On Thursday morning he kept up this populist tone, telling an enthusiastic audience at the American Legion convention in Cincinnati: “We will stop apologising for America, and we will start celebrating America.”
A Trump administration, he said, would consult with the military veterans’ group to promote “pride and patriotism” in schools – “teaching respect” for the US flag and pledge of allegiance.
“That flag deserves respect, and I will work with American Legion to help to strengthen respect for our flag,” said Trump. “You see what’s happening. It’s very, very sad. And, by the way, we want young Americans to recite the pledge of allegiance.

We want our kids to learn the incredible achievements of America’s history, its institutions and its heroes.”
The call to “advance the cause of Americanism – not globalism” came as Trump reiterated the anti-immigration message at the heart of his campaign, which delighted core supporters and dismayed his few remaining Latino allies, who had expected a tack towards moderation.
Despite a whirlwind visit to Mexico on Wednesday and suggestions of a softening in his approach to the issue, the campaign increasingly seems to be emphasizing nationalism as a tactic to defeat Hillary Clinton in November. Source I swear, Americanism is on its way to becoming a full-blown religion with this kind of... dare I say it... indoctrination. You're about a hundred or more years late on this statement. Most of public education in america is about indoctrination into the "american way" starting with the peer pressured mandatory pledge of allegiance with the hitler salute before he ruined it and we went to a simple hand-over-heart uniform action for everyone to do.

That is how most (non-black) Americans got here. Which is part of the humor in the same folks yelling the loudest for immigrants to fix their home countries (do as I say, not as I do). Then when Americans (not supportive of white supremacy) take even the littlest steps toward it, they are told to go find a better country.
Our criminal justice system reminds me of a flood. You have people living on a hill saying the prep and reaction aren't perfect but they are acceptable, meanwhile people are drowning at the bottom of the hill screaming for help. The cherry on top is the people on the hill calling the police to file a noise report on the people drowning.
Kaep would be the guy (lower, but still) on the hill saying "Uh guys, you realize they are drowning right?"

It's because they aren't white. No one had anything to say about the white Olympians not putting their hand on their hearts.

But the people at the top say “Well, they should have seen the flood coming. Its their culture of not looking for floods that did this to them.”

Actually the flood was punishment for their sins.

Clearly the answer to this problem is to build a wall.

Trump is an epic disaster for anyone who doesn't want Hillary in the oval office. And it was foreseeable ever since it became clear the tea party would probably get an immigration-centric candidate through the primaries. Now Trump confirms that he meant what he said during the primaries about immigration, and he forfeits the general as a result. You just can't have a wide enough appeal as a right-leaning immigration-centric candidate.
Any Republican who voted for Trump in the primary really just lost track of realism and shot themselves in the foot.

I can tell you how furious i was when i discovered i couldn't become a pioneer in eastern germany, because when i was old enough, the GDR ceased to exist. I wanted that stupid blue neck band so hard. And that is with the most unpolitical family. Every form of political conformity taught at school is bad. Sure, some forms are worse as others, but "MURICA!" is dangerous nontheless.

The 2016 race has ventured into a lot of uncharted political territory, but it's just now touching the divine.
As part of a Federal Election Commission crackdown on fake presidential candidates (remember Deez Nuts?), officials sent a letter to the Staten Island address where God’s campaign manager apparently lives.
“It has come to the attention of the Federal Election Commission that you may have failed to include the true, correct, or complete committee name, candidate name, custodian of records name, treasurer name,” an FEC analyst wrote in the letter, which was sent Wednesday.
Now God has 30 days to prove He exists, or his campaign for the presidency will be terminated.
The letter was sent as part of the FEC’s effort to sweep fake, parody candidates out of the race. The Center for Public Integrity reported nearly 250 suspected bogus candidates had filed paperwork with the FEC, which also sent warning letters to Satan, Captain Crunch, Rocky Bolboa and Butt Stuff.
The center also reported that the success of Deez Nuts, a candidate created by an Iowa teen who was at one point polling at 9 percent in North Carolina, spawned scores of imitators.
Reached for comment, the FEC told the Center for Public Integrity only that there has been an “increase” in fraudulent candidate filings.

Well, I'm glad the FEC is working on those important issues rather than such minor things as violations by the major parties. (/sarcasm)

Donald Trump paid the IRS a $2,500 penalty this year, an official at Trump's company said, after it was revealed that Trump's charitable foundation had violated tax laws by giving a political contribution to a campaign group connected to Florida's attorney general.
The improper donation, a $25,000 gift from the Donald J. Trump Foundation, was made in 2013. At the time, Attorney General Pam Bondi was considering whether to investigate fraud allegations against Trump University. She decided not to pursue the case.
Earlier this year, The Washington Post and a liberal watchdog group raised new questions about the three-year-old gift. The watchdog group, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, filed a complaint with the IRS — noting that, as a registered nonprofit, the Trump Foundation was not allowed to make political donations.
The Post reported another error, which had the effect of obscuring the political gift from the IRS.
In that year's tax filings, The Post reported, the Trump Foundation did not notify the IRS of this political donation. Instead, Trump's foundation listed a donation — also for $25,000 — to a Kansas charity with a name similar to that of Bondi's political group. In fact, Trump's foundation had not given the Kansas group any money.
The prohibited gift was, in effect, replaced with an innocent-sounding but nonexistent donation.
Trump's business said it was unaware of any of these mistakes until March, when it heard from the watchdog group and The Post.
On Thursday, Jeffrey McConney — senior vice president and controller at the Trump Organization — said that after being notified, Trump filed paperwork informing the IRS of the political gift and paid an excise tax equal to 10 percent of its value.
McConney said that Trump had also personally reimbursed the Trump Foundation for $25,000, covering the full value of the improper gift. McConney blamed a series of mistakes, all of them unintentional. McConney said there had been no attempt to deceive.

Well, it sounds like they basically said she was a whore. Looks like libel to me unless they prove it to be true.

I don't get how these types of cases they always ask for some stupidly huge amount of money. Like really? They should pay $150 million because they lied? Numbers on these things are so inflated.
