Am I seriously wrong to think that's sarcasm? I've lost count of the number of time Trump defenders have had to interpret his quotes to make them less horrible. If it is so obvious, why did it take 24 hours to say? My bet is he waited to see if the reaction was negative. When it was, he backtracked like he always does. Read the fucking tweet it has obvious sarcasm. Unless you honestly fucking think Trump was saying the press would mightily reward Putin for this, you have to admit it was made with sarcastic intent. This is going back to why Trump got so much support in the first place with regards to people throwing a fit over the most mundane shit
It wasn't a tweet, and there is no sarcasm on his face.

EDIT: He also goes on to say he doesn't know Putin and has never spoken to him which is a direct contradiction to his prior comments that they met a couple of times backstage on TV shows.

So best case scenario, he was making a highly inappropriate aand potentially dangerous statement, and at worse we take him at his word that he wants Russia to commit espionage against his political rivals. This sort of shit is par for the course and a large reason many people can't stand him.

There is no reason to make a third party run in a two party system. Reform FPTP and maybe he'll try. Yeah, everyone knows the two parties have always been Democrat and Republican... Which two parties are seen as the "two parties" never changes. Not once has a "third party" moved into becoming one of the two major parties. Also, It's not like anyone ever ran for president as third party before later becoming president within one of the parties. Clearly nothing has been gained in American history from people running third party. Stop pretending to be stupider than you are. None of that is applicable to this election. The two nominees have never been less liked/trusted in modern polling history, if there's an election it applies to, it's this one. No, it'll be much more likely to be in the fallout from this one as the parties analyze what went wrong in this election. But even then they'll be far, far more likely to reform themselves internally and take ground previously occupied by a third party than implode and be replaced by a third party. This isn't a debate we're having, this is just me having to explain to you how first past the post works. It is extremely difficult for one of the two dominant parties to cease to be dominant and takes active effort on their part. It just doesn't work the way you want it to. We're not arguing from equal positions here, this is me speaking from a position of knowledge and you speaking from one of ignorance and I am trying to fix your ignorance. And you really ought to be smart enough to understand that and listen. I know you really liked Bernie and I know you really don't like either of the two candidates. That sucks for you. But that does not change the intrinsic barriers created by first past the post or the colossal amount of momentum that the establishment parties have. Reality isn't treating you very nicely right now but that doesn't mean that reality is any less real. You need to stop committing to this insane alternate reality in which there is any scenario that results in a win for you. The system failed you and that's that. You're not explaining anything to me silly. There's more to running third party than winning a single election. But I know you know that and are just being difficult. Firstly, you made a case for a third party winning and replacing one of the two major parties. Not me. So that's why I responded explaining how incredibly unlikely that outcome is. As for there being other advantages to running third party. Running against the establishment to show them that they have underestimated the popular support for an issue is great. Bernie did that and he forced Hillary left. But forcing Hillary left doesn't mean shit if he then runs against her. Bernie forced Hillary to become a candidate that he could stand behind, why would he then want to not stand behind her? In a representative democracy you sell your votes for influence over the people you elect. You can sell them cheaply like apolitical lifetime Dems or you can sell them expensively like Bernie has but if you're so principled that you refuse under any circumstances to sell them then you're doing nothing but disenfranchising yourself.
I think you misunderstood my post. I think Bernie made his own calculations and I won't speculate on his motivations. I was just pointing out that third party runs in general have value beyond victory in a particular election. Bernie wasn't running because he wanted to be president he was running because Clinton was not going to run on a progressive platform and he thought someone had to. He's essentially been able to pass the torch to Stein and stay in Senate probably with some new clout (unless Clinton's stupid streak would extend and she would screw him over).
Or we get Trump and then it will be that much easier to rally against and we'll probably have some new Republican supporters who are willing to sacrifice social and economic policy preferences for someone who's not corporate owned.
If my vote ends up hurting Hillary, she's already toast anyway.
Really, no one want to own up on this one?

He's dead serious and then realizes too late that he said something dumb and then backtracks. He's been a public figure (warranted or not) for over 3 decades and as soon as he becomes a politician his opponents want to forget his personality and rewrite it with the media's take. Yes, he has a sense of humor. + Show Spoiler + If he's elected he'll be the only President to have had a Comedy Central roast. The American public knows him, for whatever it's worth. This is why he's not vulnerable to random shit that other Republicans would have to constantly be apologizing for. Were you even watching the press conference live? Here's my challenge to all of you people. Watch some Trump things live and actually make a note of anything you thought was controversial. Then the next day look at what the media is telling you is controversial and see if you came to the same conclusion. Just for laughs.
Having a sense of humor doesn't mean he gets a pass every time he says something idiotic. His roast was great; I think something interesting about it is that the only rule he gave his roasters was that they weren't allowed to say he wasn't rich. He said they could make fun of his family and take shots at anything else besides his bank account. lol.

Of all the shit you can criticize him for to contrast him against Clinton, this is a non-issue that just makes him look like the good guy for standing up against bullshit political correctness like this
Especially when it pales into comparison to what Clinton actually did with classified information
It's hilarious because it's actually gotten the media to attack him for saying Russia should hack into Clinton's highly sensitive information she deleted and mishandled, which wasn't supposed to be highly sensitive in the first place

Trump has said several times that he has met and gotten to know Putin, and now he says the opposite.
"In a Nov. 10 GOP debate, Trump said: “I got to know him very well because we were both on ‘60 Minutes,’ we were stablemates, and we did very well that night.” Three days later, he sent out a tweet changing that story – “I only said I was on @60Minutes four weeks ago with Putin — never said I was in Green Room. Separate pieces — great ratings!”" ~ http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/donald-trump-putin-russia_us_5798e7b4e4b02d5d5ed3d2fc
"Donald Trump said Wednesday that he has never actually met Russian President Vladimir Putin despite bragging multiple times recently about conversations he has had with him. Trump also said during a National Press Club luncheon in 2014 that he was in Moscow and he spoke "directly and indirectly with President Putin who could not have been nicer."" ~ http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/trump-never-met-putin-fact-check

Sarcasm doesn't seem like the right word; though there is some comedic-style word which would work reasonably; but I can't quite think what. I don't think the trump statement was truly terrible; but it was ill-thought out, and/or intentionally vague.

Could not be a more clear case of Trump supporters disbelieving automatically what they read in the media, and interpreting it in favor of Trump. Trump said it on TV, directly facing the camera LOL.

Trump is not malicious. I doubt he actually wanted people to attack his opponents directly like that. But he is definitely an instigator and knew that kind of statement gets him both airwaves as well as people talking about him.
