I think this was Bernie's strongest debate performance yet. The way he switched the foreign policy topic to Henry Kissinger, masking his biggest weakness, was clever. Though to be honest I think Bernie's foreign policy stances are fine, he's just missing *something*.

CNN is going out of its way to boost Clinton post-debate. It's pretty clear to me that Bernie had the best lines tonight.

Anyone who needs to know Hillary's campaign is in full meltdown, just look at how close she is tying herself to Obama, her plan was to run down the middle.

Hillary did pretty good IMO, she's figuring out angles that work.

The "ran against him line" was dumb. Come on, she ran against him for president when he was a senator, not when he was an incumbent.

Sanders has improved somewhat on foreign policy which is good. Apart from that, I remain unimpressed with his platform.

I think in a couple debates where the candidates really grow into their own it's going to be really great debating.

I like Bernie's willingness to not distance himself from Obama or the last eight years. Its nice to hear a candidate not try to run from everything their focus groups says people don't like. Its nice to hear candidate trying to apologize for government and be proud of their accomplishments.

Hillary did OK outside of the Barack Obama fawning, and the Wall St. donations stuff that will always plague her.

On the other hand, I thought Bernie shined from about 20 minutes in till the end. Really think it was by FAR his best debate, and made me even more excited for his candidacy. I know i'm biased, but I recognized that his early performances weren't great... this was.

Good reason they haven't polled there either. Basically, Hillary's claims in Nevada was mostly bluster. It's generational like the rest of her support.

Well, idk how close it will be-- but why would the Clinton campaign downplay expectations if they weren't expecting a somewhat close result? Bernie has a LOT of paid staff in NV. I'm actually quite interested to see how it will play out.

The 20th is my birthday, so maybe i'll get a nice surprise

Always better to downplay, then be like "wow we did better than expected". Doesn't matter if you're winning or losing.

I wish you the best of cakedays, but as a bit of good natured ribbing I will say it's too bad you're only 20 because you won't be able to (legally) drink to Hillary's victory.

I'm ten pages late because I was out hiking today instead of shitposting in this topic at work but Common Core maths is exactly how maths work in my head. It makes much more sense to teach people how to break up and manipulate numbers so that any numbers, be them decimals, fractions, negatives etc work just as easily as >0 <100 integers. Times tables are a memory exercise and a useful tool but extremely limited in scope. Being able to recite that 12x12 is 144 is all well and good but being able to instantly break 13x13 into 13x10 + 10x3 + 3x3 is way more useful. Also while 10x3 is the same as 3x10 in this case the order matters, not in terms of creating the right answer but in terms of understanding the manipulation. The 13 on the right is broken down into 10 and 3 to give us 13x10 and 13x3 and then the 13 on the left is broken down in the same way to turn the 13x3 into 10x3 and 3x3. When you're juggling numbers in your head location matters.

That's the kind of maths people should learn. A calculator can solve the problem, teach the kids to understand the problem.

I disagree with Bernie on damned near everything, but I genuinely respect the man for being so damned honest about his positions and beliefs. It's incredibly refreshing, and it stands in stark contrast to Hillary, who is the embodiment of political duplicity. Frankly, I suspect that she would be better served standing her ground on her more moderate platform instead of faux-chasing Bernie down the far left rabbit hole. It's not like she's going to be fooling any Bernie supporters into thinking that she's like him. People know what the score is.

this is how chinese people learn maths. it was my secret weapon and was better than a calculator.
