in the eu it means unified tax and probably fiscal union Fiscal union and/or unified tax does nothing so long as countries somewhere on the world are havens. If you really wanne fix it you would need a global fiscal union which eliminates taxes havens. It is amazing the lengths people want governments to go to so they can maximize tax revenue. Why is there never soul searching about why they are being out completed for profits. Why do you think that pretending like people are not human would lead to a better answer? Humans in general are greedy power hungry beings, to pretend otherwise is a recipe for failure. Was my option realistic? Hell no but a fiscal unions impact on tax evasion will be limited so long as there is a viable tax haven somewhere in the world. Because people are greedy and if they have the option they will use it.
The problem in this situation isn't greedy people acting rationally. Its greedy politicians lying rationally and getting upset over lacking a total control over every possible situation.

well to be fair If someone's running for president I'd kind of like to know if they think the biblical apocalypse is about to happen. That being said I actually think his answers not too terrible although I don't think any actual countries will think "well the apocalypse is coming I better nuke someone."

During normal questions it became apparent that Carson had deeply religious ideas so future questions probe just how deep they go.
The crazier you are, the more crazy questions you will get.

It is just a factual statement that there are groups out there who would like to bring on the end times and would use a nuke in an attempt to usher it in. To say that there is a current government with that ideology is probably a stretch but it isn't too hard to imagine a scenario where a radical group takes power and has this line of thinking. Imagine cold-war era tension except one side doesn't have self-preservation as a concern.
edit: also the "we are always getting closer to it" or however he said it is just a true statement as well ^^. I mean I don't like Carson but his answer to that question was reasonable enough.

You can't have factual statements about the end times. His answer is no better than if he'd started talking about the servants of Sauron.

One does not simply *speak* of the Nazgul.
Plus there's 9 of them. There's only four horsemen. Oh, and the nine ride giant corrupted flying lizards. I know what I'm more scared of.

Humanity did just fine after the world was flooded and Noah and his family saved all of the animals and repopulated earth and that was only ~3,500 years ago.
So maybe a bunch of nukes go off, nbd, another 3,500 years and we'll be right back, maybe even faster if more than one family on a giant arc lives through it.

You might want to read up about radiation (i know your not serious ).

The statement that we are getting closer to the end is a factual one(unless one believes that time is directionless/cyclic). As well as the fact that some people believe a type of end days is near. (that is a foundational part of IS theology for example)

Equipping police with body cameras may be an effective way to improve the behavior of officers and the public with which they interact, a new study finds.
Last week, researchers at the University of South Florida released their report on a yearlong body-worn camera pilot program at the Orlando Police Department, in which they randomly selected 46 officers to wear the devices and compared them against 43 officers who did not.
In the 12 months from March 2014 through February 2015, use-of-force incidents -- also known as "response to resistance" incidents -- dropped 53 percent among officers with the cameras. Civilian complaints against those officers also saw a 65 percent decline.
The study also showed significant reductions in the number of civilian injuries by officers wearing body cameras, and of injuries to the officers themselves.

Firstly it was clear from context that the end of days was not the heat death of the universe but rather the biblical apocalypse. There was no ambiguity and pretending that you think there was ambiguity is just pretending that you have comprehension issues. You don't and you certainly don't need me to explain what "end of days' means.
Secondly,
he said, "You could guess that we are getting closer to that." The issue is that he personally believes that we are approaching the apocalypse. He added some comments about the state of the world but the quote above wasn't about the opinions of ISIS, it was his own.
Thirdly, while getting closer could indeed simply be a statement of direction, that the distance, or in this case time, from A to B has been reduced any English speaker would infer that a degree of proximity is implied. Getting closer suggests that the subject is close already, and that the closeness has increased. But surely you already know this and you're just attempting to reframe it as "Carson was just trying to argue that time has a direction and therefore all future events are getting closer" to try and argue.

She started off asking him about his religion. He is seventh-day adventist--- which is a denomination which believes in the imminent second coming of Christ, according to wikipedia. So I guess it was on-topic.
Of course why we still ask candidates about their religion is another good question.

But not in predictable ways, as evidenced by the widely different policies implemented by many presidents who seemingly share a religion. For instance, GW was Methodist and according to wiki Obama has attended mostly Methodist churches since he resigned from the Trinity United Church of Christ. Yet they have had pretty different policies.
It seems clear to me that religion is not a very important aspect of a potential president's decision making process.
