Would any of you guys be able to help me out with a watch purchase?

I have really really small wrists and I was wondering what kind of watch size would be okay. Did a jank measurement of my wrist with a disposable chopstick paper cover marked from a ruler thing online and I'm slightly under 6 inches in circumference on my wrist. What kind of face diameter and/or lug-to-lug size should I be looking at?

I've been looking at a Seiko (SKA659) but it says it's 42 mm face and that it's 50 mm from lug-to-lug. Would it be able to fit? If not, any chance there are similar watches that still look pretty sharp? I've found most of the smaller ones to be quite a bit less nice-looking

Thanks so much!

38mm with a thin bezel looks pretty good on thin wrists, makes it look large without actually being large

Damn, most of the 38mm ones seem relatively simpler, and the fancier ones of that size seem significantly more expensive than equivalent-looking larger watches. Maybe I'm just not searching well enough. Anyway thanks, I really appreciate it!

What's a good style of tie to wear with a white shirt and light colored slacks to a beach event for a broad-shouldered, muscular dude?

Are you wearing a jacket? I think no tie, it's the beach. Or maybe a linen tie in a complementary color to your trousers (still, needs a jacket. Otherwise no tie). If you're wearing a summer suit (tropical wool or linen), a knit tie could work. But really anything that would look out of place at an evening event would be appropriate for the beach

A bowtie, if you're trendy

I'd defer to your usual dadcore websites (put this on, die workwear, a suitable wardrobe, etc) as well. Which reminds me I wanna put together a beach style guide for my inevitable beach wedding.

I am not wearing a jacket. But it's a wedding. A linen tie maybe. Or a knit?

Don't bowties look like they are choking big dudes? Imagine The Rock in a bow tie.

42mm might be a bit too big for you if your wrists are really thin... try 38ish? Definitely recommend trying on different watch sizes even if the watch itself isn't one you're interesting in buying. Good luck!

Yeah I'll look out for 38mm diameter ones. I can't really find any that size which I like though there's a Seiko SKA659 which I wanted, and there's a SNKK81K1 which looks similar but still definitely inferior ;__;

Anyway thanks! I'll definitely try some on when I get a chance to get a feel for them.

tbh i spend more time agonizing whether I should spend like $150 on a throwaway suit than on a regular mtm suit

its a beach wedding though isnt it? i wouldn't even wear a normal shirt, just a linen one. ties need jacket. aesthetically, the tie is just a straight line that leads eyes to your face, so without the neckline of the jacket it's just a big distraction. I mean, not a big deal but i'm a proponent of that.

i glossed over the bigness part hah sorry. i think linen over knit, mostly because knit ties tend to be slimmer, which wouldn't complement your build well. depend on the bowtie. here's a not skinny guy wearing a bowtie (http://beehive.govt.nz/sites/all/files/imagecache/thumb_huge/images/MD_bowtie_PM.jpg)

its small enough that it looks like an accessory and not like, a thing on your neck.

yeah internet says tie needs a jacket. i guess this is why i had a hard time imagining what to wear without a jacket. if i wear a jacket i will sweat through everything in like 20 minutes.

old barbershop men are not a look i want to go for.

linen jackets, if the material isn't bad, won't be too awful. but it will be another layer.

just an example. the look isn't important, rather the proportion of the tie to his body/chest/collar/face and the way it looks like an accessory and draws attention to his face (through the balance of black bottom -> white shirt -> black bowtie right under the head to bring your eye to it, contrasted to the red jacket).
