Nah they would have to change Lustboy/Bjerg as well. I thought their entire current roster counted as NA, for grandfather reasons? not to mention we STILL don't have a definition of what an NA resident is, and Bjergson has lived her for a year so it's possible he doesn't count against them either way Resident = resided in NA for 2 out of the past 3 years. That means Berj, the whole of LMQ, and Dexter all become residents some time in the next year provided they continue residing in NA. Before then, neither TSM, LMQ nor CLG can bring in further imports. TSM and LMQ cannot swap out an existing import for another, unless they drop a minimum of one import in addition to the swapping. Any player on the Active Roster of an LCS team or a CS team who participated in the most recent Promotion Tournament at the time of this policy change who would not satisfy the Resident definition in 1.2(a) will be considered an "exempt non-resident", which allows such a player to count towards the three Residents required Lustboy, Bjerg and Dexter all count as NA as well as whatever members of LMQ stay on the team if the org still exists? Exempt non-residents still count towards the cap, they just can't be forced off because of it.

the wording says otherwise, I'm either right or the article is very poorly written
ok I see, I still think using the wording "count towards the three Residents required" is pretty awful all things considered

They need a jungle shotcaller to ease some of the burden off Bjergson IMO so he can, crush lane like he is supposed to (and does when they win) more consistently.

I'm just glad they gave multiple examples, so at least we know for sure in these specific circumstances what can & cannot happen.
inb4 TSM Dexter He's the best option TSM has right now (since I don't see Berj or lustboy being dropped), unless someone knows of a really good NACS/Challenger jungle player?

I don't think in a million years it will happen but I want Azingy

(that's the only thing I rmbr about him from the few matches his team played against LMQ >_>) Why do you think it'll be unlikely? Things, like TSM picking up Gleeb as a replacement for Xpecial, have happened before. It's not like TSM has a lot to choose from with the 3/5 rule restricting them.

Deft to leave samsung blue?

Given the shift to 1 team orgs, Samsung will probably drop all of Blue.

Could TSM: 1. switch Bjergsen or Lustboy for an NA player, 2. switch Amazing for an imported jungler, 3. switch back to Bjergsen/Lustboy?
I think this is permissible by Riot's rules, but maybe I'm missing something since I don't follow the scene much or anything.

Doesn't quite work like that, interesting thing though is that helios' contract expires soon and it is allowed to trade a non-resident already in NA for another

Dammit the examples didn't cover but it feels unlikely because you're replacing a Resident with an Import, which is what the rule was supposed to restrict. If going roundabout-ly like this would circumvent... Riot pls. xD

By the way, all this talk of Winter OGN being cancelled and OGN teams not being abled to be sponsored by the same team is all Riot's idea, the geniuses who has been the shining beacon of light as we have witnessed thus far.
Exactly who is this for?
1) The players? Anyone with half a brain can figure out that's not the case. 2) The poor multi-billion dollar organizations like Samsung who might struggle supporting two teams? Are you kidding me? 3) To make it easier for those once a year arm-chair fans who finds it too hard to differentiate between Samsung Galaxy Blue and Samsung Galaxy White? Who cares? They're all faceless Koreans to them anyhow. 4) To cut down on the temptations of match-fixing and collusion? Seriously? This is where you start? By limiting the participation of respected, experienced sponsorships and letting unchecked "companies" like AHQ and Monster Gaming get their dirty hands on these young kids? 5) To ensure all regions are treated equally? They're not equal to start with. China never gets their patches on time. Europe and North America have money thrown at them directly by Riot Gaming. Exactly what kind of equality is Riot Gaming looking for here?
There's a lot of things I hate about the E-sports scene in Korea, but Riot Gaming is the LAST organization that I'd want to fix the ongoing issues that exists over here. Blizzard fucked things up years before thinking they knew better when they obviously didn't, and it's just a tragedy how Riot Gaming just waltzes everywhere thinking they know everything just because their marketting of the game happened to be successful.

Would 3. not fall under "Team is starting three residents, two non-residents, and wants to replace a resident with an exempt non-resident" which is a permissible roster move?

The final equation would be 2Resident+ 3exempts into 2Resident + 2 Exempt + 1import which is explicitly stated to be not possible though...
Riot pls?
Final Edit: interesting loophole you've discovered. inb4 this is actually TSM's plan. They even have people in the org ready to carry this out. (Amazing -> Nightblue, someone->someone foreign, Nightblue->Amazing)
Maybe there's some rule somewhere along the lines of once an official Riot-sanctioned roster change has been made (be it in or out of a team) the player then goes into transfer cooldown (cannot enter/re-enter the team)?

Here are the 3 legal moves TSM can make to bring in a Korean jungler.
1. Bench Lustboy for Oddone. In order to be legal they need another resident on their bench but that shouldn't block them. 2. Sign Kakao. Legal because their team is now 3 residents, 1 exempt non-resident, 1 non-resident. 3. Promote Lustboy, bench Oddone. Legal under example 2 of permissible roster moves. "Team is starting three residents, two non-residents, and wants to replace a resident with an exempt non-resident."

There is if you trade a player and want him traded back but it's relatively short(3 weeks?). Remember the Link to C9 trade.
