While I understand that there's a need to discuss this matter, this thread has way too many trash posts in it. Please think carefully about what you want to say. Ad hominem attacks on Swedish people in general, calling you fellow Starcraft fans idiots etc etc will be dealt with with harsher punishment from here on out. Keep it civil people.

Page 230: Here's some more stuff that'll get you banned!
- Conspiracy theory mongering about MLG and GOM
- Comparing people to Hitler
- Posting useless one liners of arguments that have already been repeated ad nauseum.

It's GOM's decision at the end of the day. If the players have a problem with their moral code, then they can move away from Korea and participate in the rest of the world. Stephano is a prime example of someone who doesn't need Korea -- if other top players felt the same way then they would move. But as long as players want to play in GSL, they should abide by GSL's and that country's standards, just as they should do the same with every other tournament held in any other country.

should GSL also have banned zergbong for going otu drinking the night before and therefore diminshing his own quality of play?

He still makes an attempt to win a game.

i am wondering why mc never got banned for taunting his opponents several times.
gom tv could have atleast warned naniwa before banning him as there was no rule forbidding what he did...

This is absolutely retarded. In up/downs they don't even play out games that are meaningless.

He broke no rules and was banned..ok would you rather see a 4 gate to make the match "competitive"? Or are we going to admit that the tournament structure sucks and call a spade a spade. Giving players no incentive to win is stupid and doesn't create a competitive environment so I say this is GOMs fault.

People who are Naniwa fanboys need to understand that this kind of misconduct is punishable. Throwing a game is one of the worst things you can do in this sport.

In other sports, you can physically and intentionally harm another player. That is grounds for punishment. In Starcraft, you can disrespect your opponent, undermine your team, let down your sponsor, disrespect your fans, and insult the people running the tournament all at the same time by doing what Naniwa did.

What the... This is just, insane. Matchfixers does not get punished (coca etc, their teams punished them) but a guy who throws a worthless game is? Not subscribing this season, fuck this.

I'm pretty sure Coca lost his Code-S spot for that incident AND got banned

No he just got pulled from the A-Team and was forced to the B-Team and was pulled from all events by his own team until he grows up.

GOM did nothing.

GOM didn't need to, that's the difference.

SlayerS punished Coca for them to save the team face. If they hadn't you can bet your SC2 account GOM would've banned him themselves.

After the punishment of past players for offenses not even occurring inside the GSL this is the only consequence I can see that would give GOM the respectability and consistency in the way they handle offenders. Imagine how their Korean audience would think if Naniwa was simply given a slap on the wrist because he is foreign and doesn't hold the same customs they do?

Naniwa came into this league fully aware how Koreans react to such things. The blatant disrespectful he showed towards the organization that invited him, the fans that support him, and the sponsors that pay him should not be taken lightly. I'm glad the standard is being upheld, even if it may be a bit harsh (for all offenders).

Byun and CoCa blatantly matchfix, "oh they did wrong, we're entrusting their teams to punish them."

Global StarCraft League not really showing fair treatment to global players...

One happened in a GOM tournament, the other didn't.

Guess which one handled each case.

I have so much more respect for gomtv now. The league must set standards for their players and if those standards aren't met, those players should be punished.

I did some re-search and I could not find in any of GOM’s rules that what Naniwa did was against even part of a rule?
I may not of found the specific rule that states he did the dirty but from what I can see he did something wrong/annoying but not something illegal tournament wise.

How did someone in GOM come to the conclusion that they could do this without making themselves look unprofessional? I think the correct course of action should have been “we are disappointed by what transpired in the Naniwa vs. Nestea match and therefore we are creating this rule to make sure it does not happen again etc” then they could all have a tea party with Naniwa shaped cookies and dunk them several times in their high temperature beverages until they felt better…

What they did was unprofessional to say the least in my opinion. I could definitely be wrong if there is a rule though then I would support what they did.

Naniwa deserves way worse than this for what he's done in the past, but GOM is the only one able to step up and actually have the balls to stand up for their organization. I'm glad they didn't let a diva go thinking that he could do whatever he wanted and disrespect the viewers as well as his opponent like that.
