Makes me sick that everyone is saying that Naniwa is an amateur prize hunter or only in it for the money. It's very clear what his goals are and what he wants out of the game. I understand the difference in culture here but in a culture that prides themselves so very much on respect they need to stop saying such fucking disrespectful things about Naniwa,

Yes, NaNiwa and CatZ make an amazing duo!

Proxy hatches and probe rushes, indeed what a duo.

Yeah, won't be paying to watch GOM-tournaments for quite some time, completely lost respect for them after doing this

People seem extremely confident they know what the GSL rules are, when all that ever gets linked is a long out-of-date document.

Edit: yup here are the current rules: http://esports.gomtv.com/gsl/record/leagueInfo.gom

During the Open GSL seasons they had the following rule:

"GomTV can deny your participation if you are found unfit to be a gamer."

I'm pretty sure that rule still stands - and just isn't mentioned on their (english?) website.

not saying if I agree or disagree with the decision but it's probably that rule they are applying.

this is bullshit. pure and total bullshit. i will admit that what naniwa did was wrong and inappropriate, but this sort of punishment is just way over the top. not happy, GOM, not happy at all. OP please supply an email address where we can write to them to voice our dissatisfaction. this is just not on.

No, this is common for Korea culture. They take respect and pride as much as Japanese. If they don't do this, there is no way they can explain to Korean audiences.

They explain that he did not break any rules and that they will endeavor to make sure situations like this never occur.

You do NOT punish a player who broke no rules because what he did isn't part of their "culture". This is possibly one of the most unprofessional things I have ever heard of a company doing.

This. He broke no rules.

I will not be buying a new GSL ticket for next in protest. Not because it's Naniwa, but because this incredibly unprofessional and bad decision making, blaming someone else for their own lacking format.

Join date: 12/14/11. I find it hard to believe anyone who'd purchase a GSL ticket as a non-Korean wouldn't already be signed up on TL, especially if said person would randomly join it to complain about not purchasing a GSL ticket.

No one cares. There are more people who are happy with this happening than not.
And on the pedestal these words appear -- "My name is Ozymandias, king of kings: Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!" Nothing beside remains. Round the decay Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare The lone and level sands stretch far away.

Only Naniwa threw games. Hero played as well as he could. He didn't go 0-4 because he threw anything.

A punishment had to happen for NaNiWa's unprofessionalism. It was only a matter of time..

Well played GOM

While I don't agree with gomtvs choice, it is their choice to make he was invited to their tournament and he disrespected it. Those of you saying Bye bye to gomtv, Kespa would have done the same thing, it is only a matter of time before they enter the scene.

Naniwa was effectively INVITED to the tournament, he didn't qualify. Gom are well within their rights to do this he was disrespectful to viewers and the tournament then still expected to get invited to play in their next tournament?

That's fucked up. Is there no room for emotion in korean culture? Or is there simply too much emotion?

I'm so glad I didn't buy the annual pass yet. Now I wont.

I demand a refund from GOM, not because of Naniwa, but because I took an arrow to the knee.

GSL should watch some of Idra's MLG games. They really don't get how much more emotion our players show and how they don't like being toyed with.

Did you see his game against DRG? He clearly did not play to win. The commentators mentioned it, and it was obvious in the reactions in the LR-thread.

I agree with their decision completely. I do not understand why people are flaming gom for such a respectable idea. They are protecting the integrity of their league. Naniwa did not meet their standard, so he is out.

Great job GomTV! Thank you for punishing a disgraceful action.

There is a rule about players' behaviours, whether Naniwa broke it or not is up to your discussion

Warning or disqualification
- 경기중에 과격한 행동으로 상대 게이머나 관중들에게 위협을 가할 때
- During a match, a player shall not offend the opponent or audience with abusive behaviours
