They have been known to transmit some nasty things you don't want like salmonella, cholera, typhoid, and hepatitis, to name a few. You definitely don't want any of those. Also, they can trigger allergic reactions, so probably want to get them out for sure.

I lived there for about 4 years and cockroaches are just something you get used to, just like how if you have family who leave the front or back door open during the summer pretty much anywhere you live you get used to house flies. Although I must admit I never had one inside a keyboard. I can understand though if you eat over your keyboard a lot and haven't cleaned it.
