hey mensreas post brings out a question I have for everyone, maybe u can help...why is it that most things ppl find funny are things at someone elses demise? other than the whole "glad its not happening to me" reason. I've no idea why, but my brains been chewing/analyzing that lately like theres something else there...dun think thats a worthy enough topic for a thread...its just a thought" Oath, Thanks. And I am glad to be back. Not all things people find funny are at other people's expense. On the other hand, there may be some truth to your observation. And I think you may have answered your own question, at least in part. Superficially, the reason we enjoy having fun at the expense of others seems related to an innate sense of sadism which gets amplified through indoctrination into a sadistic culture (Some cultures being more sadistic than others of course. Not that sadism doesn't have a place in society. We probably couldn't have survived as a species without the trait.). But, more fundamentally, it's insecurity. An obvious and slightly extreme manifestation of this might be the school bully (all bluster and very good at showing off how tough they are - but very insecure about themselves inside), but no one is so totally free from insecurity that they can't get a good laugh at someone else's misfortune. My 2 cents.

Currently I train back on Thursday. 5 sets of Deadlifts x 6 reps. 2 sets of Barbell Bent Rows x 10 reps. 2 sets of Dumbell Rows x 10 reps. 2 sets of Pulldowns (or Chins) x 10 reps. I also do heavy upright rows when I train deltoids. I do drop-set barbell shrugs on occasion, typically start with 405 and pyramid down to 135 each set. I don't count the reps on this exercise, I tell my buddy to strip a plate when my range of motion is next to nothing (i.e. no visible movement). Thank you for your kind words.

I know that feeling, virtually zero ROM on shrugs. Anyway I inverse pyramid my way up. Warm up with say 180, and work my way up to 360 (4 45's on each side). Or alternatively i'll start at 380 and just go 'till failure a few sets. Btw, this isn't relevant to anything really, but did you see big Ron's 2,250+ lb leg presses in his redemption DVD? It was sickening.. I would've puked so fast if I could do that. EDIT: Also... Damn you and your mesomorphism. ![]()

Damn you and your mesomorphism. ![]() Yes I've seen all 3 of Coleman's videos. He is a freak in every sense. I'm shocked, at the age of 40, he can train so heavy yet avoid serious injury. I think my favorite scene is in his video The Unbelieveable where he front squats 585 for 4 repetitions. Markus Ruhl's video Made in Germany is damn good as well. The lifts arent as impressive, but his quadriceps and pectoral development put Coleman to shame. Your shrugs training sounds decent. Do you upright row & bent over row as well? I like shrugs for the range of motion and the ability to throw some weight around, but I personally feel the rows are more effective. Deadlifts especially. I started lifting weights in highschool for the football program, so my training has always been oriented towards the compound lifts. I add in some other exercises for fun/variety, but rarely stray from the basic core lifts. I don't have any pictures on my computer currently (I linked the previous 2 from my profile at gosugamers.net) so I'll get on that here shortly.

I mean hell, they're probably bigger than my head. How old are you btw? Bodyfat %? Ever think of or planning on cutting soon? You got an amazing physique bro, I gotta say I wouldn't mind having your body for a day, you'd probably look great if you cut up to say 6% bf and went into a comp. Ever competed? Also yeah, I do rows too. And I definitly agree with your post, I too rarely stray from core lifts. Oh, and I assume you dislike Cell-Tech? :D If so, I got a hilarious screen shot regarding it that no one else here would understand, but you'd love it. :p "Everybody wants to be a bodybuilder, but don't nobody wanna lift no heavy ass weight" Gotta love Big Ron, he's never going to lose the Olympia until they add a smile pose and Gunter whips, or until he retires. Oh, and have you ever met any pros? I got a buddy who's met about a dozen, apparently Levron is a TOTAL asshole, not to mention his physique is absolutely pathetic for an IFBB pro now, he only trains like 4 months a year and my mom has bigger forearms than his. He has these jacked out tris/bis then some scrawny forearms... He used to look great though.
