If the training house supplies food, sure it may be ok. But lets be serious you are a pro gamer making 15k/y for 5 years that is a total of 75k (~50k after taxes) for 5 years of your life. If you save 100% of it, you would be on a nice start to a retirement plan. However after you finish your progaming career where do you go? You're ~25 with a pretty bad resume, your hope is to stay within the scene as a commentator, writer, etc. That savings you had over the course of 5 years will mostly used up by the time you get back on your feet.

Last but not least, lets say they practice 56 Hours per week (I'm sure some put in 70+). That comes just under $7 per hour, factor that in with they are the best in that particular field of work, its a very very small number even I can top that number by streaming.

I'm not saying progaming isn't lucrative, but 15k/y is a horrible estimate. Didn't Destiny say he gets at least 50k/y on his own?

He was getting 5k+ a month(lessons + stream ads) when he released some info about it a couple of months back, he has been getting double the viewers since then aswell tho so even more.

So i went here and found this mystery announcement. I read through a Billion of pages, with i don't know how much Theories about what is going to happen, from the strangest to the funniest. A lot of clues have been released, but you can't really make much out of them. So i figured is should talk to Incontrol, he'll probably know right? So i asked him what should i do when this announcement is going to be public, and he says:"You’re movin’ with your auntie and uncle in Bel Air" I whistled for a cab and when it came near The license plate said "FRESH" and it had dice in the mirror. If anything I can say this cab is rare, but i thought "Now forget it" - "Yo homes to Bel Air". I pulled up to the house about 7 or 8, and i yelled to the cabbie "Yo homes, smell ya later". I looked at my kingdom, i was finally there, to settle my throne as the Prince of Bel Air.

Have you heard of a thing called a UNIVERSITY? It's a weird magical place that students that have finished High School go to in order to get something called a degraa... degrede?? Degree, that's the word. A degree. Which they later use to get a job.

Being 25 is not the end of the fucking world.

But yeah this does seem like a good bet given the coincidence of Gamescom, if LiquidHuk isnt already back in Korea, maybe a Huk vs Idra(EG whoever) showmatch.

So imagine how much worse it is when you've just wasted the first few years of what should have been your working life, and you're that much further behind in buying a house, etc.

Are you serious? Most people i know in sweden don't really aim to buy a house until they're in their 30's. Why is buying a house a priority at 20-22?

Why the hell is there a standard of living discussion in this thread?

Epic burger pics.

Maybe because it is in fact, relevant to the speculative nature of this topic, and probably a bit more useful than a (literally) 2000th post about if EG is getting Huk or not?

Being 25 and not having a foundation besides "I have very good APM and special tactics" is pretty detrimental for life overall.

Well, Idra won't come to IEM and HuK just advanced in Code S. So I dont think something like this is going to happen...

lol...

I'm pretty sure, that every possible announcement, has been mentioned within the first 200 pages.. Everything after that, is just people copying people..

Don't think that you on the page nr. 4xx wrote something unique, that nobody ever thought of before.. i can assure you, its true.. Try reading the post..

Not if you manage to save up tourney winnings during that time and pay your tuition fees, and graduate debt-free.

For first, 15 thousand per year is alot of money to use for people who lives in paid training house with fulla accomodation and supply. Sure pro gaming is kinda short sighted career, but its not really believeable that people like Huk would be retiring at age of 25 either, also so many pro gamers are nearing their 30th birthday and some even passed it already.

But anyway, 15k per year is alot of money to spend if you live in sponsored training house and this is my point. People are really stupid if they claim that it is not alot.
