But you're presenting a false dichotomy. What if you could make good (enough) money playing competitive SC2? Why does it have to be an either/or?
It's not like I'm saying people get into progaming for the money. They get into it because they love playing. But when making decisions about what team you're going to be playing with, money should definitely be an important factor, since you are spending the best years of your life on this activity.
I think you are overvaluing how much the lower tier players would be making, unless it was sarcasm.
You can get quite a handful by streaming enough...

This is an ARG marketing campaign. It's designed to make people guess, because there are esoteric clues planted in it for us to figure out.
I'm having fun. So is most everyone in this thread. I don't understand why you have to be "embarrassed" and "sick".

heres one nobody has thought of yet:
idra and huk resolve their rivalry in an MMA fight, the big announcement is the date and that idra will be trained by incontrol, huk by nada!

Hype is fun. We enjoy ourselves. Nothing negative comes from those who wish to hype, hyping. It's not like you'll be disappointed because we build up the hype. Only those who get into it would be disappointed, and we are enjoying ourselves enough for it to be worth it. I am sorry if your butt hurts.

And wayyy more money from sponsors... the fanbase is what wins in the USA sooo why haven't any moved over to earn some easy $$$. Wtf mate? The more prizemoney to be made is a myth. go look at the top earners for SC2 they are al korean. yes but to win any money in Korea from prizes you have to WIN GSL, in EU and US you tend to get prizes for coming in positions other than 1st aswell
I'm pretty sure just RO32 of Code A nets you about $1500, it goes up depending where you place, and I'm assuming code S is a shitton more.
Actually WINNING Code A nets you about $1500, pretty much the same as going out of Code S first round.
Winning Code S gives you ~46k, placing second gets you ~$18k.
"Prizepool : 1st: 50,000,000KRW (~32,000EUR, 46,000USD) 2nd: 20,000,000KRW (~13,000EUR, 18,500USD) Ro4: 5,000,000KRW (~3,200EUR, 4,500USD) Ro8: 3,000,000KRW (~1,900EUR, 2,800USD) Ro16: 2,000,000KRW (~1,300EUR, 1,850USD) Ro32: 1,500,000KRW (~1,000EUR, 1,400USD)"
That's Code S.
oh I see, there is a problem with Korea tho in that forener scene is getting big now and Korea is half way across the world from every other esports scene and theres only really 1 bit Korean tournament where as there is loads in EU and US
It's certainly a problem, not for Koreans though. You see if foreigners never "catch up" to the Koreans, It's our scene that's gonna die, regardless of which is the bigger one, because teams won't invest in foreigners when getting Koreans for potentially less money more or less guarantees success. We need people practicing in Korea. Badly.

Yes, I was. I'm quite positive that players like Idra and Puma and probably DeMuslim get quite generous salaries from EG, if I were to take a guess, I'd say around 50k a year on average.
Which would be a lot of burger flipping.

This thread is full of so many misunderstandings, misinformation, trolls, and generally ridiculous posters that it amazes me.
I wish people would actually think about what they are saying and know what they are talking about before posting.

So can we all agree the announcement cannot possible be just *ONE* thing? Puma has won much more than HuK recently and that was a post. So if we do agree about the future possibility of EGHuK, then we also know something bigger is coming.
Do we have any evidence of anything BESIDES the HuK transfer? I mean, I can't seem to find any legitimately informative clue about a possible move to Korea.
