I can't believe this still is needed but religious and gun control side discussions will be met with harsh penalties from page 52 and onwards.

This requires almost no effort to stay afloat and breathe so them remaining still may not mean dead. Tredding water is another way to stay afloat but if these people swam hundreds of meters and aren't use to swimming I'm sure they could be really tired and just resting as well as tredding water can require a lot of energy if you don't know how to do it properly. Just trying to remain positive here. Aye, been thinking what was the best way to go for these kids. I'd say this was probably it, get far away enough to not be in range and then just float. I just hope that most the pictures are of people doing that and hiding...

Saying the attack was extremly cowardly Violence should be answered with more democracy Praises all the medic, police etc has and is doing a great job handling the situation. The person responsible for the Utøya incident has been apprehended by the police. Some claims are that he is blond, and approximately 185-190 cm in height. The police have not been willing to comment on his nationality. They believe he is linked directly to the bombing in oslo some hours before the Utøya incident. Utøya is a festival of sorts for young "labor" followers.. 14 years and up. Racism has been seen (and heard) all around Norway today. Many people thought this had to be an islamic based attack. Some people have resorted to beating up people of eastern origin. Knut Storberge just stated that the apprehended person is of norwegian decent.

Yes but the problem is that he had some kind of rifle with a scope which means they would have to get fairly far out to be completely safe. I think someone mentioned the distance to closest land was around 600m so they would have to pretty much get to land to be safe. Maybe the reason the sick fucker took the rifle was so that he could pick of the ones trying to swim to safety..

Well for anyone who isn't really physically fit in their upper and lower body or hasn't swam lots in their life, 700-800m (I think that was the distance) is an insanely long distance to swim. I'm sure with the panic too they sprinted from the shore until they tired out so it wouldn't be unreasonable to assume that a lot are just resting and floating as they would've been in the water for a long time. I really hope this is the case.
