I can't believe this still is needed but religious and gun control side discussions will be met with harsh penalties from page 52 and onwards.

Hm.. so the attackers thought the PM was at work, and otherwise he would be at the youth meeting?
I think that decision to work at home today, was one of the best decisions ever.

Guy on the phone from the shore by Utøya is saying the people are being evacuted from the island by boats. He says they are still hearing shots, terror police with helicopter is on the scene, but he has no information regarding what is going on on the island.

Varden (a small paper) claims that at least 4 people are shot dead on Utøya.

There has not yet been any attempt to get out to the island, and the people at the camp are apparently hiding from the gunman and won't talk in cellphones out of fear of exposing themselves.

Fuckin hell, atleast those people swimming *should* be safe right? :/

If they don't drown, yes.

Im not sure where this place is, is it sea(and if so, is it freezing?) or inside land island?

It's in lake Tyrifjorden in Buskerud county. It seems from the map that it is rather close to the shore, but the lake is fucking huge, so it could still be quite a long swim.

Here is the island on the map. The distance seems indeed quite long for clothed people to swim. :/

The suicide-bomber in Sweden was born and raised in Sweden, but it was not "homegrown terrorism" but islamistic.

We'll have to wait and see.

that's still homegrown terrorism.

I agree.

There's a time and place for that discussion. Don't fucking bring it here.

Not to be the devils advocate here, but why shouldn't people be allowed to voice their opinions in times like these?

Local reactions, judging from facebook, is that we need to cut down on immigration and throw out people from the Arab/Muslim world. Bomb them all to hell. Etc etc.

People simply does not seem to look beyond their own nose.

I'm from Norway, and if you look at the big picture, we brought this on ourselves.

What's the difference between bombing innocent civilians in Libya and Afghanistan and a bomb going off in Oslo? Nothing.

On a map it look to be between 1 and 2 kilometers but it's in a lake. They should be able to make it but im not even sure how easy it is to even see the direction you are swimming when it's that far + people will be stressed out after running from the gunman etc.... Hopefully they'll all make it

Shitty i went to oslo once i remember it being the cleanest city ive ever been to. Like seriously everything was so clean and the city center was packed from like 10am onward... guess its just a good thing the bomb wasnt there. Oh and the grass was so green like i cant even describe it to sumbody who hasnt seen it. It was just like the brightest green ever. Such a nice place. Tragic that this would happen there of all places.

yeah, its told that 4 people at least have been shot, seen by witnesses. And Utøya is a small island outisde oslo which is used for a summer camp that is located there. kids go there every summer to go to summer school, drive boats etc. The island is pretty much just a summer camp, nothing else
