I can't believe this still is needed but religious and gun control side discussions will be met with harsh penalties from page 52 and onwards.

I fail to see how this is different from stuff happening every single day all over the globe, other than the victim for once being the people of a rich country.

orly?

Please tell me how its racism.

Its obviously muslims that blow themselves up we all know this, when another bomb goes off we all know a muslim did it its a fact. Please prove me wrong if you can, which I know you cant.

It's not 'obviously muslims' that perpetrated this particular bomb. It's likely, yes, but there are many instances where bombings get wrongly attributed, despite it being 'obvious' who did it. Proof that you COULD be wrong includes:

Northern Ireland, 1969: A bomb blows up a power station in Northern Ireland. It gets attributed to the Irish Republican Army, and the fallout discredits and topples the relatively liberal unionist government of Terence O'Neill, and he's replaced with William Craig, a hardline loyalist. The perpetrators of the bombing turn out to be the Ulster Volunteer Force, loyalist extremists, who would welcome Craig in preference to O'Neill, and whose politics were diametrically opposed to the IRA.

Bologna, Italy 1982. A terrorist bomb kills hundreds of people at a Bologna train station. It's blamed on left-wing extremists, and the police and government launch a crackdown. The bombing later turns out to have been the work of far-right fascists (possibly working with the Italian intelligence services).

Oklahoma bombing, 1995. A bomb rips through a federal government building in Oklahoma City and kills a huge number of people. The press blames Muslim extremists. The culprit turns out to be right-wing American Christian militia members.

Madrid bombing, 2004. A bomb blows up a train and kills hundreds of people, shortly before the 2004 Spanish General election. The government blames ETA, Basque Seperatist guerrillas. The culprit turns out to be Al Qaeda.

As I say, it's likely that muslim radicals planted this bomb, but it's also very possible they didn't, and overzealously blaming bombings on the wrong perpetrators can often have very harmful effects.

It's a bad habit to use incidents as your arguments. We all know it's VERY likely that this was done by muslims, so might as well assume it for now. When something chewed on your chair you're gonna suspect your dog, not your goldfish.

edit: spelling

Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty? Come on. It does nobody any good to start pointing fingers before you have even a slither of information.

This is a myth. Norway is engaging quite actively in the "war on terror".

You also fail to see that these kinds of paniced reactions happen every single day all over the globe as well. The difference is that Norway has been tergetted. That's why all the norwegians are making a big deal out of it.

Edit: To avoid any misunderstandings: Yes. It is a big deal. It's fucking huge.

Foreign newspapers are doing a lot of speculating, there is nothing to support such claims at this time.

Or the way Id like to put it: There is nothing that would suggest it being anything else then a muslim bombing.

There has been shooting at a summer camp for the worker parties youth group, several people hurt don't know about deaths. Seems to be a part of the terrorist attacks.

Yea because all afghanis are militants and they have no civilians. At least that's what NATO likes to call every single person they kill. Interesting population demographics. 100% male, 100% militant.

This is so horrible, but it could have been much much worse. Luckily the area of close proximity of the bomb didn't seem very populated at the time of the explosion.

Imagine how much worse this could have been. What if a bomb of this magnitude went off in a more populated area?

I've checked 4 news channels on TV and so far not one of them is discussing the bombing. Kind of pisses me off...

If anyone has links to news sites covering this live (preferably in english) I would appreciate it.

TV2 reports that there has a lot of shooting on Utøya, the guy who's dressed up as a police officer is supposedly shooting wildly about himself.

It is different. Norway has no grievances against other countries, well not that I know of. It would seem strange to attack a peaceful country.
