What? Are you stupid? The mental faculties of a 12 year-old are completely different to that of an adult who realizes that what people say about you on the internet doesn't fucking matter. A 12 year-old who is just developing their personality won't be able to distinguish the difference in bullying online or bullying in real life.

Which brings us back to the first question: what is she doing on the internet in the first place?

I don't understand that question though. Can you give me a reason why she shouldn't be on the internet?

Last time I checked, 12 year-olds were allowed to access the internet. Also, she was the victim of a lot more than just "internet criticism".

I don't understand who Jessi Slaughter is and I have no intention of googling it, so as a completely neutral party I'm appalled by the father's actions. Even if she is a miniature Rebecca Black.

The fun part about this actually is that her dad threatened to kill the internet trolls who trolled all over his daughter last year iirc.

I can't blame him too much, yeah its wrong and stupid but I bet his life was made hell just because his daughter wanted to get attention on the internet. She seemed like the type of girl from her videos that kept going on the internet and making videos even though her dad told her to stop.

There is nothing that justifies hitting someone. I feel pretty bad for your future children, since you think it's OK to hit them if they don't do as their told.

poor girl
first she tries to be all nice and cool and fail on the internet
then she gets trolled hard everywhere
then her nudes come up
now her dad punches her in the face

I pray to Odin I can raise my kids better than that

Obviously I don't think punching a child in the face is ever right, I just understand why he might explode the way he did. However I do believe in spanking a child if they don't do what they are told but thats a whole different discussion.

So you think it's wrong 100% of the time to ever hit your children ever?

God, you're going to be a terrible parent. I bet you think putting them in a corner and giving them a stern talking to will do the trick, huh?

But I'm not justifying punching a child in the face. Of course that's wrong under almost every circumstance.

I dont think he could be more clear.
12yo dont have any thick skin, their defenses arent any good, their definition on what's right and wrong are still developing, making them susceptible to malice....
you give then something designed to EXPOSE their image, they will do it. maybe with no malice, but there are some asshats around ready to exploit their naiveness

sometimes I find it hard to explain the obvious, it's always so much more complicated >_>

It's wrong under every circumstance. There is no almost. And telling your child what is right and what is wrong in a calm and reasoned manner will make the child listen. Yelling and screaming or imprisonment (locking a child in a room for example) will not explain to the child why what he did was wrong. All they hear is BLA BLA BLA BLA ATTENTION BLA BLA BLA BLA, and it goes in one ear and out the other.

Just because a they are young doesn't mean they won't understand if you explain something to them.

It is a shame when any child is abused, whether it be online by a nameless, faceless crowd, or by the very person who she calls her father. If only the girl had a chance growing up in a home with so many depraved things going on (lack of discipline, mentally unstable family, etc). . .

But what does being an "easy prey for pedophiles" have anything to do with putting your face up on the internet? Is iJustine on YouTube an easy prey for rapists? A child on the street is an easier prey for pedophiles than this Jessi Slaughter, because if a pedophile wants to pedophile, he'll grab a child, ANY child.

iJustine is 27 years old.

Jessi Slaughter is 12, and craving attention. It seems obvious that some people would be willing to take advantage of her. And pedophiles don't always just pull random kids off the street. They meet kids on the internet too and exploit them. There was even a show "To Catch A Predator" that demonstrated how rampant child predators are over the internet.
