MARCH 25--The father of “Jessi Slaughter,” the 12-year-old girl who last year became the victim of a vicious online swarm, was arrested last month on a felony child abuse charge for allegedly punching his daughter in the mouth during an argument, The Smoking Gun has learned.
Gene Leonhardt, 53, was busted for striking his daughter Jessica, who told Florida cops that she had been arguing with her father when he “punched her, causing her to have a bloody and swollen lips.”
It's only appropriate in the midst of the Rebecca Black story that we're reminded of the last time the internet ganged up on a young girl. I feel really bad for her now, at least Rebecca is getting a nice chunk of change from her video and will probably have 14 more minutes in the spotlight. Not to mention her loving, well-to-do family. What is Jessi gonna do? I mean at this point she is more or less destined for internet porn if she survives another 6 years. And by that time even streaming porn will be in 3D or some shit.

What? Are you stupid? The mental faculties of a 12 year-old are completely different to that of an adult who realizes that what people say about you on the internet doesn't fucking matter. A 12 year-old who is just developing their personality won't be able to distinguish the difference in bullying online or bullying in real life.
He punched her in the fucking face? I kind of sensed that he was probably a dick to his daughter just from watching the videos and shit last year but wow. I'm kind of surprised that he was that abusive.
well look at the kid. she aint exactly the calm tolerable type. im sure plenty of you would probably end up wanting to punch her out too. children can be demonic little assholes concentrated with pure unholy evil within them. they can make your life miserable as hell.
ofc you still dont do it. Nobody should hit a kid like that at no times. Punching a kid is just reallly really loooooow no matter what. he dun goofed up.

I don't understand who Jessi Slaughter is and I have no intention of googling it, so as a completely neutral party I'm appalled by the father's actions. Even if she is a miniature Rebecca Black.

The fun part about this actually is that her dad threatened to kill the internet trolls who trolled all over his daughter last year iirc.
I can't blame him too much, yeah its wrong and stupid but I bet his life was made hell just because his daughter wanted to get attention on the internet. She seemed like the type of girl from her videos that kept going on the internet and making videos even though her dad told her to stop.

There is nothing that justifies hitting someone. I feel pretty bad for your future children, since you think it's OK to hit them if they don't do as their told.
poor girl first she tries to be all nice and cool and fail on the internet then she gets trolled hard everywhere then her nudes come up now her dad punches her in the face
I pray to Odin I can raise my kids better than that

Obviously I don't think punching a child in the face is ever right, I just understand why he might explode the way he did. However I do believe in spanking a child if they don't do what they are told but thats a whole different discussion.

So you think it's wrong 100% of the time to ever hit your children ever?
God, you're going to be a terrible parent. I bet you think putting them in a corner and giving them a stern talking to will do the trick, huh?
But I'm not justifying punching a child in the face. Of course that's wrong under almost every circumstance.

I dont think he could be more clear. 12yo dont have any thick skin, their defenses arent any good, their definition on what's right and wrong are still developing, making them susceptible to malice.... you give then something designed to EXPOSE their image, they will do it. maybe with no malice, but there are some asshats around ready to exploit their naiveness
sometimes I find it hard to explain the obvious, it's always so much more complicated >_>

It's wrong under every circumstance. There is no almost. And telling your child what is right and what is wrong in a calm and reasoned manner will make the child listen. Yelling and screaming or imprisonment (locking a child in a room for example) will not explain to the child why what he did was wrong. All they hear is BLA BLA BLA BLA ATTENTION BLA BLA BLA BLA, and it goes in one ear and out the other.
Just because a they are young doesn't mean they won't understand if you explain something to them.
It is a shame when any child is abused, whether it be online by a nameless, faceless crowd, or by the very person who she calls her father. If only the girl had a chance growing up in a home with so many depraved things going on (lack of discipline, mentally unstable family, etc). . .

But what does being an "easy prey for pedophiles" have anything to do with putting your face up on the internet? Is iJustine on YouTube an easy prey for rapists? A child on the street is an easier prey for pedophiles than this Jessi Slaughter, because if a pedophile wants to pedophile, he'll grab a child, ANY child.

iJustine is 27 years old.
Jessi Slaughter is 12, and craving attention. It seems obvious that some people would be willing to take advantage of her. And pedophiles don't always just pull random kids off the street. They meet kids on the internet too and exploit them. There was even a show "To Catch A Predator" that demonstrated how rampant child predators are over the internet.

She might be dumb because of what she did on YouTube (or wherever it was), but I don't think she's a moron who'll take her clothes off because a "friend" she can't identify tells her to.

Judging by the way she reacted to trolling over the internet, I wouldn't be surprised if it did result in something similar to what you just described. Oh wait. It actually happened.

And 27 year-old women definitely can't be overpowered by a men. Oh wait..
People attack her because she's an easy target to call a fucking idiot, which is about as far as it goes. To Catch a Predator is mainly about predators finding random people in chat rooms, not scouring the internet for Jessi Slaughter's personal AIM address and then try and pose as a "friend", then all of a sudden try and fuck her.
1) not theoretical. that's how it happens 2) not so much about trust -- se my previous post, and it's definetly not all of sudden - these ppl take their time. 3) she DID take her cloths off, maybe to someone she knows or to an online buddy...... see my point?

Oh man, being from Florida this entire charade finally makes 100% sense. At first I just thought it was some typical girl with an inflated ego ready to be popped by the first person who has to deal with her besides her white trash father. But no, this makes it concrete. Dunnellon, Florida? I'll give it to her. She is probably the most beautiful girl in that city. Without a f*cking doubt in my mind she is.
