Holy crap... the survey results at the battle.net forums are godawful. These casuals are hurting our game. Marauders favorite terran unit? Roach favorite zerg unit? Colossus/Immortal favorite toss units? I wish they used the teamliquid poll instead.

lol if they make phoenix a little "more powerful and easier to use" it will seriously dominate everything.

While I do think that late game brood lords give toss problems, phoenix is really good at what it does. If they are made stronger still, it may help deal with brood lords, but things it already does well, it might become completely abusive at...

The pheonix is really powerful right now. I don't understand why they are trying to fix this unit when it is already an incredible tool for harass and reaches an effective critical mass in the mid-late game which can put the hurt on armies across all three races.

Sweet, a hellion buff would make counter-sentry/immortal play way easier

Also, there is nothing wrong with encouraging more mech play. I can't wait to actually try the raven/tank/marine opening into ghost mech, especially once the hellion buff comes out.

Even if nony use Phoenix well, it's still a pretty crappy anti-air unit if you compare it to the Corsair.

I guess everything is in the eye of the beholder. When I read making them a bit more easy to use I actually read that as the change they are making is to actually give phoenix and hellion some improved micro capability. Especially considering how much people have been asking for that.

I don't think Phoenix needs a buff at all right now. Mayyybe they could use an upgrade on the fleet-beacon to make them more viable late game once armies get huge.

Overseer upgrade should be cool. New spell for infestor is definitely welcome.

Hellions - I don't really care. Making their attack no longer stop their movement for so long might be nice.

The reason people dislike hellions is obviously because they're sluggish and unresponsive and feel like ass to micro - not because they're weak. Hope they don't get buffed.

No that is not what they are saying, they are refering more to how 'fun' the unit is. They aren't necessarily going to just 'buff' the unit, rather than change the ability to make it more of a useful/fun unit. Doesn't always mean buff. there can be lateral changes! ^^

The thing about the pro-gaming scene is, at least with Starcraft's history, if you leave them at it long enough, they'll figure it out.

So long as the core of Starcraft remains, that is: small selection of units, pretty much every single one is overpowered one way or another, everything has a job to do and things get awesomely complex when you start combining units together, the pro-gaming scene is going to be fine.

And its funny how fickle some of you guys are. These are the same people that got us to this tight point of balance already.

They don't just land these numbers by dumb luck.

You know the only problem with Phoenix is the job it was supposed to do is terrible at it. The Phoenix wasn't supposed to be a harras unit, it was supposed to be an air control fighter, something that could give toss control of the skies, the gravaton beam was more envisioned to lift up critical units so the ground army could break through.

At the moment, the Phoenix does the job of the Vulture when it should be doing the job of the sair.

Also easier to use could just mean a moving shot seems like a good thing to me overall.

i'd like to know why they are buffing phoenixes right now and make no mention of corruptors. theyre both similar air to air units but one is clearly very useful in all matchups and the other is only good for killing colossi. and halting production

On a more serious note: this seems to indicate that there will be another patch that gets wasted on irrelevant stuff, which means another two weeks of beta time less to get to the important parts. My highly complex calculations estimate the probability of this game getting fixed before the end of beta to be 0.3142 now. Which means the probability of it being fubar is now approximately 0.6858.

I like it. In late game pvt it is a game winner: vortex can put half the terrans' army into the void while you take out the second one, and than surround and finish off the first. Also recall on production facilities is as good as in sc1, only you can recall your ENTIRE army.

All Blizzard needs to do is make its units benefit more from micro. No numerical changes needed unless it promotes MICRO BASED balancing. COME ON Blizzard!! They don't even realize how bad they're going to mess up the game for people vested in competitive play if they don't start reworking key units to be balanced around MICRO not A-MOVE.

Well, SC didn't get 'fixed' until patch 1.08 which was a few years after release...

since both infester and overseer is probably gonna get changed im putting my money on that they move the infested terrans to the overseer and add a complete new spell for infester

thor is probably gonna have less cast time, be smaller and in compensation less dmg or hp

i think hellions will get a more stable attack (less cooldown and less dmg)

phonix its a tough call tho. they might just decrease speed of it and make it more robust, maybe give it back the overload spell or w/e it was called. will be interesting :D

im really happy they r trying to make the game more fun because that interests me more than balance atm

i really like this idea, they are good but i think they need just a few changes to really get people to use them or even incorporate them into there armies. lets hope this next patch is a good one

Why does it HAVE to do the job of the sair? Just because its a rough equivalent in tech? Maybe its not so good as an anti-air role because its so powerful as a harasser and even in a main army with the graviton beam disabling units.

I feel like Blizzard is trying too hard to cater to people that aren't going to put half the effort into getting better at Starcraft 2 as most people put just leveling to C on iCCup.

I guess from a business standpoint that's all fine and solid, but trying to make everyone happy is only going leave some people very unhappy, and they choose to leave the ones who care the most about the game more or less in the dust. Awesome.
