So a few of my friends were playing bet games last night and I wondering how many people here are interested in playing games for their money? I am thinking about starting a little website and what not for bet games. Every game would have an admin to be there during it and both players would send their money to this admin. Then the admin would send it to the winner.

You cant know if its a scam. So kinda pointless to accuse of that at this point imo...

But I dont think theres much utility to such site. People can play bet games pretty easily as is, just transfer the money by whatever means, you dont need admin for that. And even if you potentially had more players to play for money with with a site dedicated for it, people usually would only want to play for money with players they know somewhat well, so they know they have winning chance :D

Unless you find a bunch of rich carefree noobs to bet away from somewhere.
If you have to ask, you don't know.

Not a scam. He's my friend his intentions are for the SC community only. I'm sure once it gets big he'll start charging like a dollar a betgame or like a 5% fee or some stupid thing, but for now he just wants to put something gosu up that can make the community more active.

P.S. if it happens I'm in.
SC is like sex. You should play often, but never too hard. And you should only try hard when it matters.

I think most people who are interested in bet games are interested in good natured bets with friends. If you distrust your opponent enough to require an escrow then the bet is no longer in the spirit of good fun.

If you do think thier is a good market in grudge bets between bitter rivals then you will still need much better community standing for anyone to trust you.

Good scam =

Moderate betgames for FREE. Bribe one of the players that you will guarantee him the win(and half the winnings) by swapping him with a gosu player, then keep the other half of the winnings yourself.

I truly don't think people would decide to entrust a stranger with any sum of money... Sorry. Othewise, a online booky for starcraft bets would be an interesting venture.

I think having a private server where money was used each game. Such as you can play $0.01 games where each person puts up $0.01 and the winner of the match wins. Then play up to like $1000 games or something. I'd totally play for something like that.

Even with like $5 you can turn that $5 into like $5,000 if you just grind the games. The better players will be wanting to be playing higher stakes, so $0.01 games would be like playing UsEast 3v3 nr20 people, and playing $50 games would be like playing a C rank. Then top players like Jaedong would be playing $1,000 games or w/e

When I first saw this thread, I thought it was gonna be liquidbet with money. So now I am hijacking this thread. My idea is during a pro game a group of people will bet on a team/player while another group bets on the other team. You can choose how much you want to bet and which group you are in, ask how much other group put up.

So lets say I bet $5 on Ace and including me, the total amount of money people bet on ace is $100(so I wagered 5% of pot). Now lets say the other group's total bet on OZ is $500. Ace wins and I get 5% of 600. Of course there needs to minimums and maximums moderation and I probably need a big enough interest and a trusty bookie. Discuss

Wouldn't you want 5 % of the 600? (100 Ace + 500 Oz).

I play for small amounts with people from liquidpoker.net sometimes, even if you play a smurfing A- or something, it doesn't really matter if it is a BO3 for 25 cents or something. It gives the better player incentive to play a bad one, and it is quite inexpensive for the weaker player. I've probably lost around $10 or so, but who cares, I got to play a bunch of competitive games with good players. It's also fun to bet on people while obsing, like, "oh i'll bet 25 cents that guy wins."
"ok, but you have to give me 3:1."
"ok deal."
All money transfers were usually done through pokerstars, no admins or anything were used since I doubt anyone would want to ruin their reputation for a few dollars, and even if so, who cares if you were scammed out of $3 rofl.

well you could have something like X amount of money to create an account, and people wouldn't spend like $20 to play $1 games against no bodies, when they could play $5 or $10 games. There's also going to be a lot of rich poker players who don't want to only play $5 games so there would be some easy money at the high stakes as well
