Career vP: 29-25 (54%) Career vT: 88-44 (67%) Last 10 vP: 3-7 Last 10 vT: 7-3 While Quarterfinal C is generating more buzz for its "two generations of gosu" matchup, Quarterfinal D is sure to produce better games. fOrGG and Stork met for a very entertaining Ro16 match in the ClubDay MSL, where Stork defeated the then-defending MSL champion 2-1. The 2set on Athena 2 is recommended viewing. For Stork, much has changed since that last series with fOrGG. Atcually, the quality of Stork's play has fallen off so significantly since his Incruit OSL title that I'm surprised he's still alive in both Starleagues. Birdtoss is bombing the Winners League (I have this theory that he and BeSt go out drinking together during their teams' designated WL practice hours), and a quick look at some of Stork's recent losses reveals his play just seems to be lacking that extra special crispness that powered his OSL championship run. There was a time in his career when Stork could have whipped fOrGG without any preparation, but that time has clearly passed. That could mean trouble for Stork in this match, because it falls just one day after his first OSL Ro8 game against Jaedong. Stork's 2-3 loss to Kal in the ClubDay quarterfinals (in a match immediately following the Incruit OSL finals) proved he's willing to prioritize the OSL over the MSL, and that will obviously hurt his chances against fOrGG here. fOrGG, on the other hand, has been preparing exclusively for this match for the past two weeks: he's played just four Winners League games in total, and none since the 1set of his Ro16 match with free on February 2. fOrGG barely bested free in a pathetically cheesy series of games, but he is nevertheless my darkhorse pick to take the Lost Saga MSL title. Though TvP is his weakest matchup (historically speaking), fOrGG still possesses a crazy macro style that is easily capable of rolling any of the six dragons. We haven't heard much from him lately, but I'm convinced fOrGG will make plenty of noise in this MSL. I think fOrGG's unlikely run will begin in earnest with a dominant victory over Stork: aided by a very Terran-friendly map pool, fOrGG will take this series 3-1.

Poor forgg. He is a fucking sick terran but god damn. Stork imo is the scariest pvt alive. Best units rolls you. Jangbi harasses perfectly into mid-lategame. Stork does both of those, and outsmarts oppts.
I predict 2 proxies in the first 3 games.

Forgg is actually still alive and looks sort of secure atm, but that reaver will find holes I'm sure.
Yes, here it comes at bottom of main, dropping a goon to draw fire, while landing a scarab among the scvs. does little dmg, 2 scvs taken out.
The reaver actually gets taken out by unsieged tanks when Stork tries a snipe.
Forgg is still in this, but in the meantime Stork's been macroing and getting a third up

Dumb, but he can afford it. His macro is merry and well and unless Forgg does some magical vulture harass and/or dropship play, I don't think he's gonna get outside his base.
Zealots have speed now and they're running in, unfortuantely they're all dead and only goons are in play now. It's enough by far though, takes out the defense setup and the scvs come out to defend.

Especially Stork. His strategies for BO5 PvPs (against Bisu in -07, against BeSt in fall -08) are gold.
Say what you want about Bisu or whoever having superior mechanics, but Stork has been the Protoss master of perfect BOs since 2006. I don't think any progamer toss puts as much time into perfecting his BOs as Stork does. It might seem boring, but a perfectly planned and executed BO can just propell you into such a lead that you can't lose from there.
If you look at his PvT play for example; he always has a few extra units at a given time into the game than any of his peers do. Those few extra zealots or whatever is sometimes what differs a broken push and a succeeded one.

Stork played incredibly well that first game, but I think fOrGG is going to force 5. Who wins in my mind is a toss-up. Will Stork continue this new trend of finishing the deal? Or will he revert to his old style of choking? Will fOrGG have something up is sleeve? Which player will have momentum on their side? In my opinion, this was the best Round of 8 matchup because we had so much going on with it. Whoever wins this will give JangBi one hell of a run for his money, and the winner of this MSL will come from this half of the bracket - not ZerO or Luxury. God help whoever makes it to the finals if fOrGG does make it.

Factory built at normal timing, a depot is built next to barracks and above/right of the factory. Looks like some kind of building position that might shelter marines. Don't know the exact simcity thoughts behind it.

Some mines are planted and gives him breathing space

Stork has good map control now, but forgg gets some vultures around. not being successful at doing any dmg though. His nat is finally running and has some defense there. It looks though as if stork could bust it any second, though he's opting to sit back and defend from vulture harass. safe play.
He knows he's firmly in the lead and needs to keep it that way until carriers come into play

Forgg getting a good position outside stork's nat with turrets and sieged tanks. In the meantime, stork's carriers are doing damage to the nat, but not enough. a massrepaired turret keeps him out.
This push timing was EXCELLENT from forgg and the nat nexus is dead. stork now bottled up and needs to do serious dmg with those carriers. He's in the main now, but he just can't seem to do critical damage

Stork tries to take airspace above forgg's factories but gets driven off. he's doing damage, he is, but it's merely not sufficient. Ok so finally he breaks the key turrets and takes out the armory. NOW Forgg is in trouble.

siege mode is done but forgg is just sitting midmap. Stork has observers over those tanks, just waiting for them to try to move forward. He's moving in sort of like BeSt did against Hwasin. Pure goons against pure tanks. not successful. at all.

Forgg decides to plant 7 tanks virtually on top of each other at the nat, but almost nothing in his main, so stork uses that to do neat damage over there instead. takes out scvs, 2 tanks, 1 vulture and makes all the scvs run to the nat. Lol Forgg has a tank wall pushing the 2nd gas expo. Stork tries to push against it with Dragoons but has to pull back. Then he goes and drops a zealot, dragging a mine and killing 3 tanks, damaging others.

Forgg has to back away from the bridges, because zealot bombs are happening.
Stork has 3 bases in play, forgg has two and has to defend constantly now.
Stork decides to go all out goons against tank cluster again, loses lots and backs off.
This guy keeps pending between beautiful decisions and friggin poor. Speed zeals in play now as Forgg tries to psuh over the topright bridge again. That helped a LOT!
Stork now breaking all the way through and Forgg looks bad.
Stork backs off, but only after taking out everything but 1 tank of Forgg's army.

Hmm, forgg actually sneas 3 tanks and some vultures up the the 2 o clock wallin. Gets a turret and a bunch of mines there. It actually looks really good. Fine, the tanks are taken out, but a bunch of vultures take out all probes at the minonly expansion and a few are sent into the main. Forgg sends a few to the nat as well from another direction.
GREAT multitasking from forgg - he does some serious eco damage here!

Forgg hellbent on pushing up to 2 o clock and has another, just identical push coming. Stork now with a lot fewer units in comparison (hi eco damage). and has to wait for forgg to move into flank-able position (which you should have done in the first place, birdass :p)
He does send a few zeals into there and makes the tank pop stones at each other.
Stork moving to take 10 o clock, walling off with pylons. Forgg is leapfrogging upwards to 2 o clock, stork trades some units there to buy time.
Forgg is showing his trademark macro and stork's eco is still lagging visibly

How do you know that's the reason? Many players have shown poor results in proleague but have done great in individuals. Bisu being one, although he's dispelled that claim by his recent performance in proleague. Some players are just better at preparing for series and the meta game.

4th going up at 10 o clock for stork. Forgg macroing off of 7-8 factories. Has a shitload of stuff in good positions right now. I havent watched upgrades (watching small daum sports player, not visible in this format) but I bet forgg is at least at 1-1 atm.
Shuttle reaver at forggs third base (4 o clock) does niiiiiiiiiice damage, taking out something like 7-8 scvs before vultures come in to ruin the party. Stork maynards probes to 10 o clock while forgg is busy elsewhere - that would have been free vulturefood otherwise

Unfortunately Forgg has some well positioned tanks on cliffs etc, making it impossible to push any further.
CUTE! DT at 4 o clock takes out the scan and is now working the CC --> defending tanks.

I'm so pissed. I picked this match to stay up for over JangBi-NaDa because of classes. This was a major letdown.
fOrGG just looked outclassed the entire series and I think he's going to be mediocre for the rest of his career now. A great TvZer, and a modest TvP/TvTer. It's a shame, I really like him.
Ah well, we have 2 great semifinal matches to look forward too, that's for sure, and a PvZ final. Of course, one of the Zergs is a notoriously bad ZvPer, and he's favored in the semifinal. Either way, I'm looking forward to the semifinals next week and then the finals. Hopefully we see 15 great games.

Jangbi dominates PvT but Stork's just too intimidating. ForGG confidence is visibly shaken after the first game elavator. Stork apply more pressure and killed him off.

It was rather hard to see Forgg losing like this. Before quarterfinals I predicted that Jangbi wont have problems with Nada - and he had some problems, cause he did some very stupid recalls in 1st game and was completely sloppy in 4th. I also predicted Stork's win - seriously Stork is just Forgg's nemesis.
For semis:
Luxury vs Zero
Whatever everyone say - i think Luxury will win this cause he's one of those few who can just sit and make it to the finals. Zero will be crushed no matter how bad he prepares.
Stork vs Jangbi
It's sad for me to predict Jangbi's victory, but I think that way. Though Stork is my favorite player out there and I'll very happy if he wins.
P.S. If somehow Stork will take OSL - he'll repeat Boxer's record by taking 2 OSL in the row. If he'll take MSL also - I'll consider him bonjwa.

P.S. If somehow Stork will take OSL - he'll repeat Boxer's record by taking 2 OSL in the row. If he'll take MSL also - I'll consider him bonjwa.
Luxury has never been in the finals, so I don't really know what you're talking about.
I hope that Stork wins so that he'll get another silver and a Zerg wins the OSL.
The number of titles don't really help with the Bonjwaness since Stork has been playing abysmally in the WL and is definitely not the best player at the moment.

Forgg was more known for his tvp before his tvz until he met stork and his tvp just fell apart after. He even admits this himself. In the msl selection ceremony he picked stork first. He said his tvp was really good until he met stork and his tvp hasnt been the same after

ForGG is a very good player, hey he won an MSL, not to many proleague players can say that. I don't think ForGG has a grudge against Stork, no more than Hwasin has a grudge against Flash. ForGG is just not S-Class like Stork, Flash, Jaedong, Bisu, Best, etc.
I put ForGG in the same class with Hwasin, UpMagic, and Fantasy.

That has a lot to do with the fact that protoss simply don't go carriers anymore, most of the wide open maps don't really play well with carriers.

I kind of disagree with your post. Jangbi is 1-1-1 vs Flash a win on blue storm, a loss on colosseum and a draw on blue storm. They have only played two offical proleague matches, but Jangbi has done just fine both games. He also has a good record against Nada and has only played two games against Mind. I dont see how you can say Stork has the best pvt. I see him having the best along with Jangbi and Bisu at the moment. Stork and Jangbi's play in the mu is very similar where Bisu has a completely different style. They all seem to be on the same tier for now though.

Man ... can't say I'm too hyped about the rest of this MSL now. fOrGG vs. ZerO/Luxury was the last hope I had for a truly exciting final. Nothing against these players, but none of the possible championship matches really do anything for me.

Jangbi will own Stork. Even Stork admitted that he sucks against him in practice, and he has already been owned by Jangbi in a previous starleague.

Stork can play on a level with Bisu when he's going full force. If he brings that to the semifinals match, there will be JangBi blood all over the wall.

Jangbi possess all skills and all tools of pvt, and he finishes games with 1 reaver. Id still say hes the most feaful pvter right now and has been so for quite awhile. I wasnt expecting forgg to win, seeing as the condition hes been in recently.
edit: He(forgg) shoulda beat stork in the msl, but really it did seem like the back to back loses to stork and then much traumitized him, doesnt really make sense but w/e.
And Jangbi is 1-1 vs Flash, not sure what that posters point was, and if you remember the first game from last year, it was when Flash was in Jesus Mode, and if I recall correctly somehow came back from a deficit and beat jangbi.

Jangbi style is very different, hes much more of a storm toss. Much much more harassment based, especially with two shuttle play. Bisu has some macro down, and great positioning. Stork is the arbiter god. Also stork makes much more us e of light tech than the others. Anyway my point is he beats flash on a terran map, along with mind and nada, and stork just eats s class terrans for breakfast, his losses are mainly arrogance against lower level terrans. But against a wall, i would trust stork to take down any terran always, bisu is definitely getting there, and jangbi too, but stork is just on another level with pvt. Again im talking ab the quality of the games stoprk plays, against s class terrans (well i guess they could b a class if ppl consider flash the only s class), in their home court (rush hour, andromeda, neo harmony) stork pulls off wins he just shouldnt. And thats y his pvt in my head has been the greatest since 2008 officially, and even earlier he showed great expertise in the matchup.

Jangbi went reaver in to carrier a few days ago - I think Khan decided the metagame has abandoned carriers, making them advantageous again. Also, Stork goes carriers really often against fOrGG.
