maybe you should do your homework on who is playing before you actually make a comment.

Sarcasm is hard to read on the internet, cut them some slack. I disagree with your assessment of 9 pool speedlings as 'cheese' though.

He was probably sad to eliminate his friend in such an embarrassing game from the MSL. UpMagic and Jaedong practice together despite not being on the same team and are friends I believe

As always, no two people seem to define cheese the same way. I like a definition around the lines "early-game attack that derives its success from the fact that it is hidden, and sacrifices the economy in such a way that the game is lost if it does insufficient damage."

Going 9pool is certainly not cheese in and of itself. Going ling all-in when when realizing his opponent had an incomplete wall-in and had scouted him last might quite well be defined as cheese. I am pretty sure that if up had scouted LJD first, the game would not have ended in that particular fashion.

That being said, I am of the opinion that it is in fact a pro's job to win the game, by whatever means he deems the best, fastest and surest. Sometimes that way is cheese, sometimes not.

yeah people can define it differently but there's a general definition of cheese and that is:

1. if it fails, the player is not just behind, but basically loses
2. if the opponent scouts it, it is very easy to stop

that said, i don't think 9 pool speed is cheese in any instance

you certainly can't make the distinction between cheese and not cheese circumstantial factors in the game, like if up scouted JD first = not cheese and scouted last = cheese.

your "going all-in ling when realizing opponent had incomplete wallin" logic fails because:

1. Byzantium 2 cannot be traditionally walled so JD knows this and thus 9p speed is a bit stronger than on maps that can be 2sup+rax walled

2. JD made 4 more lings (while his first six were en-route) before deciding to attack so i don't see how you can say he "decided to go allin after seeing an incomplete wall" because the extra lings were already being built

3. JD likely went 9p speed as a semi-defensive move to counter a bunker rush

Can anyone tell me how the fuck is cuteangel 11-1 in his last 12 games and his only loss being best? This is cuteangel were talking about here, the same guy that loses 8rax scv rush to 3hatch before pool vs Luxury. The guy that gets owned by every player in existance. Oh god with theese results he might as well end up in the PR.

on a side note, since Jaedong didn't advance as his group's #1...

Nada doesn't have to play Jaedong, Free does

Free has the worst luck lol

Hehe, sometimes people talk before they think...

Btw I was thinking more or less the same as you (even if 9 pool speed is not a cheese imo) :
when Boxer bunker rushes, people call it brilliant play, even if he does it 3 times in a row in an OSL final, when Flash did it vs Bisu last year, they called him an asshole, when he does that again the other day, while he has proved himself as a monster, some people call it brilliant while still others (bisu fans of course) curse him for that. But when a "nobody" like Frozean does it to Jaedong, he's a fucking noob... And what about the Bisu/Luxury game on Troy? Even if I was cheering for Bisu, i'd call it a clever build, especially on a map so hard for Z players.

Imho, cheesing is an important aspect of the game (and it's fun to watch), and that not only the top 10 pros have the right to use. Or maybe we should introduce a "5min no rush except if you're boxer" rule? That would be awesome! ;-)

PS : don't get me wrong, I love Boxer.

yeah they went to the same high school.

but if you remember, jaedong embarassed upmagic far worse on his road to his osl championship

another thing about almost all cheese is that you're pretty much playing for a coin flip, the outcome is pretty much determined by luck and whether or not your opponent is familiar with that cheese
