Best has 3 zeals. Casy has started his add on. 2 zeals comming. They kill 2 rines, one dies and the other runs away. Best makes a pylon in the spot a cc wouldnormally be made. A goon is out and it scampers (yes scampers) towards the terran base. A mighty scv is attacking the pylon. All the rines go down but 2 vults are out with mines and lay about 5 or 6 or them. Casy is secure. He also starts a cc right next to the pylon. Nice pylon best. GW.
Casy has about 12 mines layed above his nat choke 1 vult of doom is attacking the pylon. A second fact is up. Casy moves 3 slow vults to right below the toss ramp where he runs into 6 goons but stillmanages to kill maybe 2 probes?
Best has 2 gates that block his front. Also a robo facility and a support bay. Nice choice considering Casy has no turrets. However he does have an armory almost done. He also has a starport with an add on. The starport is flashing and an academy is up. 7 speed vults movingtowards the protoss nat. A reaver fires one scarab at them but they run and none die. Reaver at the Terran nat! Scvs run as do 2 tanks defending. Ouch for casy. Hes losing a lot of mining time.
4 vult drop in the protoss base! NICE! HES DOING MAJOR DAMGE . He drops another 4 in. But at the same time Best drops a reaver back in the scv line takingout a few. 2 stargate carrier starting. Casy sloppy,losing vults to goons without running them or moving them at all really.
Alethios, its katrina what do you expect Casy already has some gols out, about 5. Casy up to 4 facts. Bestgod with 5 or so gates? A cc is floating to the second nat. Casys secondnat is up. The stargates arent flshing at the moment, ok their they go.. BUt the min only is going up. Casy is doing really well actually. Props to him. 2 carriers are out. A reaver with a shuttle supports them but tanks instantly kill it lol.
Casy is playing really well. LOL another 4 vult drop kills some probes and 2 goons with one mine blast. A vult still alive and with 5 kills. 2 Carriers harassing the 2nd nat.
He then runs away asap Casy up to 6 or so facts. Also startinglike 5 turrets. BUt carriers and a reaver arrive just as they start. The scvs run but best doesnt get many kills. A LARGE tank/gol army moving towards best god. BEST ENGAGES WITH CARRIERS ZEALS AND GOONS + REAVER SUPPORT. Fairly even fight both sides take damage but nothing really deciding. The reaver is back in the t nat. Killing turrets. Theres also a lone zeal chasing scvs. Casy continues his pressureon the protoss nat. Hes doing well. Best doesnt have the units to stop it and hes wasting a lot to tank fire. Best back at the T nat again but loses his shuttle. The scvs STILL cant mine though.
How does BestGod expect this build to work w/o his third gas, and even in bases with his terran opponent? And I thought no one could fuck up carriers on Katrina.
This is a fucking great game. One of the best tvps Ive seen on Katrina. A hero reaver still alive. Kills the scanner and dies to 2 tanks. Ok A large T army at the protoss nat. About 8 tanks and 12 gols. Best has 4? Carriers. P ENGAES T! But quickly realizes he wont win and runs.
Casy is not in a huge advantage. The game is very close. P has 5 carriers now. OH shit I spoke to soon. Casy levels the protoss min only. However speed zeals/goons and carriers rape the shit out of the T army. Its stilla pretty close game.
Oh shit! The armies miss each other. Bestgod with 6 well microed carriers picking of tanks andgols. This push is in trouble! A carrier goes down but all the gols and tanks die. They only take out a few gateways and 1 carrier. INTENSE.
Carriers are at the undefended T nat. The armory is down. SO IS THE CC! About 12 gols moving to defend. The EBAY Sci facility go down. And the carriers escape uncscated from the gols. Bestgods min only is back online. Wow what a game.

Ya carriers become harder and harder to stop as their numbers grow. When P gets to 6 or + a land army its incredibly hard to stop unless the Ts army is MUCH large. If you add in the terrain of Katrina and its just impossible.
I still think he could have won after the resume, except that he decided to take his army way out of position. It was very painful that he only had one scan though.

Well he most likely wouldve lost if he directly engaged the P army. There werent THAT many gols in his army. Ps land army wouldve died, but afterwards the carriers wouldve had free reign on Ts army. Not a good situation.

if he "pressed his advantage" he would lose all his units and therefore lose the game much sooner than he did. obviously he was trying to move forward but that absolutely cannot come at the cost of his tanks
the only thing keeping bestgod from harassing earlier was the constant threat of units outside his main, casy could not lose those units and hope to win the game
casy's advantage was not in unit numbers, it was in the positioning that allowed him to keep the carriers away from his own base. if you realize this then you realize he was in fact pressing his advantage, by keeping bestgod's carriers away from himself

"pressed the advantage" was not the best choice of words. and these are all good points.
But as you said, he was able to keep the carriers at bay for a good amount of time. Long enough, I believe, to get another expansion and keep the game in his favor for a greater amount of time, probably leading to a win.
But whatever, I need to get back to watching the game at hand.

That wouldve spread his defensives even more thin. Giving him more ground to protect against carrier harass. I wouldnt be derisive, but I think its really unfair to not give credit to players who played as excellently as Bestgod and casy did in that game. It was a fantastic game.
On the current game. Wow really interesting variaton on Casy's normal 1 rax acad openning from his championship run. In that OSl he pretty much opened 1 rax acadinto fast expo.

What is really amazing is that the nukes didn't just act as a surprise rush. He used them consistantly, 1 nuke in particular that took down almost every single drone in Jy's main. Amazing stuff.

Agreed, but you have to admit the ultimate goal, after takingout the sunken line, was to get the hatch. And he couldve done it had he focused on the hatch.

Nexus at nat has around 100 hp. This is turning into a battle for that patch by the ridge at the nat. Vultures raiding Free's mineral only. No into free's nat. Kills the many probes, couple zealots and finishes the nexus there.

just saw the free/jy game on katrina. Wow, what a match. I must say that jy started out quite well and developed into a good midgame, but i feel it was the wrong choice to switch to ling+ultra. If he had kept with hydras I think he could have beaten free, or even hydra/ultras, with that economy he had running. Endlessly suiciding single files of lings into archons didn't help him either.
