Protosses need to adapt a new meta for these maps. The expos are really snug and are much easier to defend for Terrans. And it makes it much easier to also pick off the speed shuttles for goliaths. Not sure what the answer is but the gateway man has been nerfed a lot. | ||

Quite baffling to me that Leta can have a super late CC, throw away that many vultures, and not fall behind too much. His 3rd base is not even late. And by the time he gets it up, the map will take care of the rest. What Best should have done is just camp Dragoons on his base to minimize probe damage and go for Carriers asap. The 3 6 9 12 bases on this map are almost invincible for Terran. You have to go through 2 narrow chokes to just enter the base ffs. I remember Rain got a huge lead vs Mong on this map in the qualifier, but he never attacked those bases, just storm drop after storm drop while transitioning to Carriers. | ||

From a Protoss point of view there's no indication of a proxy Hatch on the map to scout for, just because the drone is blocking the ramp on a map like this. Players may check for it next time, but not because the information in the game tells them to do so. It's just because they've seen this game. | ||

And because Flash will be the last pick for sure, he'll go into this group of 4 Ts again. It's funny that the season Flash returns, key players, including the ones who can take him down like Soulkey and Best, are dropping like flies. Not that he wouldn't win this season with all those players in, but he probably didn't expect his run to be this easy. | ||

So what kept Starcraft going for so many years is what's actually slowly killing it. Maps. As for the group today, nothing much to say, the results were maybe unexpected but at the same time entirely in the realm of possibilities for BO1. Best is not a poker player so he doesn't comprehend this format (let alone against Zerg) so that game wasn't a surprise either. To make this season complete I fully expect a group with all zergs and a protoss and another one with 2 protosses at least in the next round. | ||

Sure, advantages exist, but if you think strats can't be tailored in a bo5/7 to catch them with their pants down that's on you. Also, having maps skew towards your race has an added psychological debuff in becoming complacant because you assume you're stronger because of the map -- they might not put in enough effort and just play standard and lose because of that. So... advantage Flash, for sure, but don't count out Bisu/Soma/JD/Rain just yet. | ||

Fair point I guess, I think maybe it’s a combination of Terrans figuring out a lot of new stuff lately and getting help from maps. I don’t think SOOP could have anticipated that combination, so I was a big too quick to judge. Ro. 16 should be better. Still gutted Rush, Queen and Best is not in it. Leta appeared to be playing a great macro game vs best but it was more the map bring incredibly T favoured in straight up play, so easy to get 4 defendable bases. | ||

Secondly, the ingenuity and grit pros have to overcome these issues is inspiring. I wouldn't count anyone out to find tailored solutions to these maps to, at the very least, give them a fighting chance. For clarity: I still think the maps are very T favored, just laying out the conditions out in the open one also has to consider. | ||

Queen botched that attack in the final game. He ran seven zerglings in instead of killing the empty bunker, then moved them to a corner attacking nothing while being slowly killed by the wraiths. I feel like he focused too hard on his mutas in the natural and just abandoned the lings. Then threw everything he had a now-loaded bunker and lost everything. Not looking forward to 500 terrans, but I'm glad Leta is among them for some spice. | ||
