He really didn't want to give Action any time to reinforce it and solidify a soft contain there. Getting armor upgrades so early was definitely a play this series. I think he had a read on Action and what he is going to do in the mid-game. Pretty good adjustment. Also that's one of the ways most P's lose to Zerg on that map.

Can’t believe he won those games on HBR and Nemesis. I think I saw the supply diff in the nemesis game at 200 v 120 at one point. Incredible.

Looking strong! | ||

If he plays like this, making hydra bust look like nothing he can take out any zerg. Been Meta since early 2020 to stop muta strategies at the time. Then people moved away from Muta strategies back to hydra and the DA stayed.

To be perfectly honest, the real reason why Best won this series is that he scouted so well in games 2-4 and always build the correct amount of defense (enough but not too much) to not die to early hydras. It's very hard to do that and many of the best Protosses could have easily died early here, in which case the series would have gone 3-0 for Action within 30 minutes or so... Late game protoss has always been extremely strong in PvZ. I still have nightmares of trying to fight lategame toss on Bluestorm... It just rarely gets to that point because Hydras. And Dark Archons are underrated. Protosses never build them and if they build them, zergs ignore them... On April 03 2023 21:20 Simplistik wrote: I was surprised by the gg timing. He might have stopped at 2-0, so extremely far behind in upgrades, and just lost his entire lurker force, no sunkens or sim city at his bases. So he was definitely in a rough spot but, as mentioned above, it was the last match in the series in case of a loss, so not trying to fight a little longer seems like an odd decision.

Gonna be hard to top games 2 and 3 of this set in ASL15. The maelstrom usage on HBR was so slick, and almost mining out Nemesis was such a crazy situation. So happy for Best!!! Last Protoss hope looking super strong!

Amazing play from Best but honestly, if it wasn't Action who couldn't stop himself from suiciding hydras and drops nonstop for the killing blow, I don't think he could make those comebacks. You put a guy like Soulkey or Hero in those situations and it's 3-0 for Zerg. It's ridiculous in this matchup that Action can opened with hydras to have a game ending threat, but could still transition out of it into a macro game where he had the lead. I mean, Best built the correct amount of cannons to survice - a difficult task in itself - only to continue the game in a position where he was expected to lose.
