Every player really gave their all and showed some neat moves: Action's cunning bag of builds, Light's single dummy turret to fake a 3rd expo, Larva's mass queens, Best's ninja DTs.... Too many to count! BW is well alive! Looking forward for Flash's random!

I'm surprised no one is talking about the first BeSt vs Light game. BeSt threw away like 15 zealots to pure mines when he tried to bust Light's mining base at the end of the game and Light barely had much of an army there (think like 5 tanks?). I facepalmed hard when I saw that. Not to say this was a guaranteed 100% win, but that move essentially sealed his fate that game. It's somewhat akin to Light's marine blocking the SCV from blocking the choke and allowing the lings from Larva's 4 pool to make it in, except this was an AI thing while BeSt chose not to split and had all his zealots evaporate before making much contact with the tanks. Maybe though we'll get our first PvZ finals in like what, 11 years? Counting only "premiere" starleagues (OSL/MSL/KSL/ASL) I don't think there's been a PvZ final since Jangbi vs Luxury in that one MSL? There was EffOrt vs Bisu in VNSL which was essentially ASL's predecessor (almost like ASL0 lol). However, you are right. We haven't had a PvZ finals in all 9 editions of ASL so perhaps we may get it in this one.

BeSt beating action also felt really odd, but I chuck this to Action's mind games backfiring hard in that second game on Benzene. Should've just rolled with mass hydras or something. First game between them was just weird. I'm surprised no one is talking about the first BeSt vs Light game. Yea that was a big throw but I doubt it woulda made him win the game anyway. It was a shame cause it coulda been longer game and possibly he would still have a chance. He was playing from so far behind that game though. I mean its already amazing he made it that long, but I dont think he would've ever won that game. Still a great game for Best though, despite losing. Edit: I do think with perfect templar control he could've won that game. Best nowhere near played perfectly, but it was damn good. I mean same can be said for Light of course. But we like to root for the loser.

But we like to root for the loser. Best seemed rather 'sloppy' with engagements throughout. Even in the last game vs Light, his repeated drops were rather inefficient in terms of economic trade-off. But seems to me that Best is a macro beast, and that's all part of his gameplan - take the occasional tactical losses in order to gain a bigger strategic advantage. Though inefficient, the engagements distracted Light, forced him to turtle, and allowed Best to freely expand and control the map. The flip side of such gameplan is that Best often don't micro his army as well as, say, Bisu. But ultimately it's a feature, rather than a bug, of his overall approach to the game. (I'm basing this notion from the group games. I'm not an avid follower of Best's games. So do correct me if I'm wrong).

But we like to root for the loser. I disagree. Light's base on the left side was getting mined out and was recently attacked by BeSt who killed some workers too. The main mining base for Light was the one on the right. If BeSt controlled the engagement much better than he did, he shuts down the mining of Light and puts him on a timer seeing as BeSt still has 2 mining bases which had a good number of resources as I recall. Not to mention that Light's overall army wasn't as big which would favour BeSt if they were to engage at that moment. BeSt however throwing away like 15 zealots due to not splitting was huge at that point. Go back and watch the game (I should too incase) but I remember a huge amount of zealots evaporating to a mine field. Even as a macro beast, losing that many is essentially gg in this kind of situation imo.
