That felt like S player zerg vs B tier terran. Although I'm glad Ample is showing up lately, securing KSL ro8 and passing qualifiers on ASL is a good sign.

EDIT:
After watching first game I take that back, Ample's mech play was quite good!

This is Ample versus THE Zerg in a televised offline match, I'm willing to cut him some slack.

I think he had a very good showing, looked a lot more confident in their first game (and then waited half a century for SK to basically get the entire map). And organ was just manhandled. I think we'll see more of Ample, there's been some serious improvement and his KSL results weren't just a fluke.

Tears of joy are shed.

That rally point sending drones forever to Ample's natural was painful to watch. SK even let a few drones on the way to have a full scout of the path.

Damn that really sucks that SK might have to forfeit halfway through the tournament :\ . Can anyone confirm 100% that there's no way he can get a deferment to finish out the tournament if he's still in it by August 10? Seems that since he said a date that it's a definite thing?

SK is like unarguably the best all-around Zerg right now, it's definitely going to be a weaker race with him gone soon.

We all hope Soulkey will be actually able to delay his enlistment, he wouldn't be the first to do so(I think he's one of the very few who could stop Flash in this ASL, I am now officially rooting for him).

Jaedong seems done and, with Effort and Soulkey gone, Zerg apparently won't have a serious tournament contender(one should hope for Zero to resurrect and/or for Larva to finally become competitive on the greatest stages).

So Bisu also said a draft date that was during a tournament but he was able to defer it?

I have faith that Zero will be back to speed by next season. His online play is fantastic, but his performance last KSL was really disappointing and he didn't even make it past the qualifiers for this ASL :\ . Hopefully he just needs a bit more time to get back into the groove of offline tournaments. If not then the top 3 zergs are Larva/Action/MisO and none of those guys are finalist material as of now :\

I can't tolerate non-Korean games because I'm only interested in the best; the final game was pretty good. Ample is improving. Excellent commentary. Rematch of G1. I voted yes. Didn't watch the TvT but otherwise enjoyed the games.

What are they going to do about the SoulKey situation?

Let's say they award the Ro.8 spot to number three in SoulKey's group, that means his group will be way easier than the others and everyone will want to get in it. On top of that, if SoulKey wins the group, there's going to be a "decider" match with nothing at stake.

The most fair way to handle it would be to have a mini tournament between the four losers of the Ro.16 decider matches, but that would require them to set up an extra night of games, and possibly at very short notice, which would be a logistical nightmare.

They could also just draw lots but that's never a good option in a tournament.
This is my signature. I love that I can have a signature here. I haven't had a signature since like 2008. It reminds me of the old internet. I wish I knew what to put here though.

I thought Ample looked great, especially during the early game. His mechanics might just be a bit slow, hence getting massively outpaced by Soulkey in game 1, but "getting outpaced by Soulkey" doesn't make you a bad player, y'know?

I don't know, but Afreeca has done a good job dealing with these logistical nightmares in the past. I remember when they had to replace Sea on very short notice. Killer lost to Sea in the qualifiers and took Sea's place. Went on to Ro8! [ASL S4]

BTW, put me down for Soulkey leaving exactly when he said he would, regardless of his state in the tournament.

By the way, Tasteless must've read the praise for Cadenzie or was simply refreshed from vacay, cuz booooy was locked in! Extremely fun commentary. I don't know about y'all, but imo Ample was legitimately out playing the great Soulkey for large swaths of the first game. Soulkey definitely wasn't on his A game. But as soon as it turned into a long macro game, I mean, c'mon... very difficult to keep up with Soulkey post-Defiler if you're a Terran.
