The biggest FOREIGN tournament. And yes, it's really confusing to me why such a high profile event (5k+ in prizes, offline finals in a cool location) doesn't get a ton more hype.

Probably because in 80%+ of the qualification pools there is already quite a bit of certainty on who is advancing.. It's the same players who have been winning tournaments for past 2-3 years. The Moscow LAN will be quite a bit of fun to watch I'm sure but it's still quite a ways off.

I don't quite agree that the same players attending is the problem.

In both ASL and KSL there's more or less the same players attending, with some variances. The same can be said for top foreigner tournaments. But it's still possible to create hype. It's more about creating emotions than the actual prize pool, or the variety of players.

I think you misunderstood me. There is no problem or issue with expecting the best and most active players to advance. It's just that this creates very little drama for the qualifiers. And no one should expect people to continually post in this thread for the next 4 months until the finals occur.

yesterday we had the America Qualify 1.
this week will have Qualify 2.
the winner of each Qualify wins 1 paid trip? thats means theres only 2 spots for America? or if a player can afford to pay his own trip he can particiapte?

This is only true if you only care about the results, otherwise still some great games are played and it's fun to watch, and there are some underdogs to root for, for example I did not expect Oya to win in EU.

Unfortunately not, Temil. You are, of course, welcomed to come at your expense as a spectator, and highly likely you will have a dozen of games with eleetes, but out of the tournament scope.
