Welp, those games were pretty rough. Hope Rain was just phoning this one in cause there was nothing at stake, he played pretty sub-par compared to his usual form. It would have made a pretty disappointing final.
ZerO come back and he's been killing the S tier protosses atm. ZerO is our king <3

Maaaaaaaaan... Rain playing like the loser that he is... it's not that he lacks skill, because that's clearly not true. He lacks the ambition of a champ... Who said there's nothing to fight for? Not only $2000 difference between 3rd and 4th place, but even more - the prestige and delivering for the fans. 3 games no economic harass, no notable offence.. nothin. Yeah, Effort is a monster, but Mini played to win.. and so he did. Can't wait to watch the finals, between two players that actually have both substance and character! Props to Effort for the nice display, but it felt more like a practice day for him... in charge of the whole thing from the very start to the very end.

rain didn't wanna play or something? wtf was that quick 0-3 lol

Kind of a disappointing 3-0, maybe it's Rain's weaker PvZ, maybe it's his lack of motivation. Maybe it's a bit of both.
Congrats to EffOrt though!

He is? Woo. I hope he qualifies next season.
Any news on when hero gets back? He was my other zerg favourite along with effort, I'd love to see him back on form. edit: could have sworn he went to the military before bisu did, but I must have misremembered. Guess we'll see him back next year

woke up late, now i see the complete stomp that effort did. In the end, it was good that this was not the finals....

Yeah like I predicted earlier, there will be few ladder level PvZs from good players, even if it had finished 3:2, it still would have been average series imo. Its just the 3rd place matches are like that, I doubt that Effort was more motivated or prepared better than Rain, even though he won convincingly

All around solid play from Effort, good on his side. Rain, well, his game was lacking. Mini showed what it takes to dismantle Effort and we saw nothing even slightly resembling Mini's vigor here so the result was definitely deserved. I enjoyed the games but I always wish for more than 3 games in a bo5.

Terrible 3rd Place match.. looked like Rain just could not be bothered to play after that semi-final loss..
Damn shame.

excellent games from effort, his mechanics are astonishingly good. He was just fighting so efficiently with mass hydra, he kept sniping templar and dodging storms in game 3. The map was pretty good for mass hydra, but efforts control sets him apart from other zergs.

Gonna miss Effort for the next two years ggs

Can't say I'm glad to have watched the games, but the sign:
AGE: 60 APM: 40
was pretty awesome.

Disappointing by Rain. Think he would feel some professional obligation to keep the good games coming and the hype for Brood War building.
Man feels like we just got effort back
|
Yeah, some weird games, Rain looked devastated after that.
I feel like he went in with a strong macro focus and expected Effort to be scared of shenanigans after the loss to Mini, but nothing played out like Rain had planned.
Besides the missed drop there wasn't really anything that felt bad from his play, things just didn't go his way at any point. Weird to see.
Effort was on top of things, I hope he can come back strong after his time in the army.

So Rain plays at an average-to-above-average level and gets beaten by probably the top Zerg around at the moment and everyone's like "what, Rain, you didn't even want to try?".
Those weren't the storms of someone who wasn't trying.
Maybe now you can just admit Rain is overrated instead of saying dumb things like this.
edit: I'm so fucking glad it was a 3-0 stomp though, maybe this'll cause the people who were saying "3rd place match is gonna be the real finals!" to self-reflect some.

Hopefully, Mini will receive a bit more respect now.

I find STX SouL expro protoss players play better and stronger for the mid and late games. Bisu definitely has his own unique style to constantly harass early mid game and get 200 max goons with hts.
Funny thing is STX SouL expro protoss player(s) seem weak against JD, but strong against other zergs. And that is Shuttle. He is really strong in pvz late game and effort cant win if the game goes too long.

Yes exactly, Rain tried so many ways to scout the main in g2, designed a speedlot sair push that killed a ton of overlords in g3 and tried to get a dt in later, had so many good storms and nearly toppled effort over with his push on whiteout. Effort just managed to deflect everything very well where he had failed to do so vs mini.
... But they just couldn't give effort any credit and had to attribute it to rain not trying. This seems to be a consistent theme here, not giving the winner credit.

What is your position on the matter? Do you think Rain "wasn't trying"?
