I also thought the new player played pretty well actually. Showed some good controll. Hope to see more of him and other amateurs. We need more new players.
Fun night, but after KSL BO1's arent enough anymore :D

Wow man, where had game 5 100% in the bag and just stopped macroing for the longest time, It looked like he was transitioning to ultras from his resource bank but then he just streamed lings.

Is it even humanly possible to reach pro level if you've never been a pro?

Nah, I think the pros know amateurs would have lack of stage experience + nerves and both Shuttle & Miso used hyper aggressive builds to take advantage of that. I'm sure Byul practiced for more standard games so the proxy rax and 2 hatch caught him way off guard. I'm sure if they played standard Byul would have shown us better games.

If Byul was Mini in that game on sparkle where he suicided his reaver, then I would have my doubts too. Because that was just fucking stupid, and Mini is a pro. But this wasn't so bad. I also think it's hard for us to imagine what the nerves of playing on stage at a broadcasted event does to your play. This guy has what it takes, and I hope we see more of him.

I'm sure if they played standard Byul would have shown us better games. it was almost like he wasn't expecting early aggression (which was a bit silly as it's the most obvious way to quickly beat an amateur). also he was doing dumb things like positioning marines under a cliff where they received heavy muta harass and also not building a bunker AFTER he saw the 2 gate goons coming. not impressed at all tbh. although i felt Where was being downright obnoxious morphing the guardians over the rax as a diss to an amateur. Real classy. I'm glad when shuttle beat him it exposed that he can't do much besides early aggression

It seemed rather important, and as I was listening to the English stream I found it frustrating that Tastosis made zero acknowledgment of this. Of course, as beloved as they are, Tastosis have a great many flaws these days.

edit: To preced any off topic Bisu comments cause of my name, I absolutely loved his builds in the series where he beat Bisu and it was genius in the same way Bisu lost to Yellow on HBR. But variations of all ins and trick builds gets you far enough to be stomped by players like Flash who don't die to it.

Of course, as beloved as they are, Tastosis have a great many flaws these days. Sometimes I'm critical of them, but these days they are busy AF casting between both SC1 and SC2. It has to be really hard to stay focused on all the elements with the constant switching. The best thing posters can do is just leave helpful feedback so they can leverage that information in the future. Artosis was streaming BW this morning and is putting in the time when he can so it can only get better. edit: On top of builds and gameflow, there are a ton of storylines going on. For instance the Neeb vs TY matchup and so they also have to stay on top of those too lol.

He doesn't have as much oomph as Jaedong in a macro game, but he plays to win and looks so happy when he does. His games are often very entertaining.

And yeah, it bothers me as well but it's nothing new.

PURPOSE a couple of seasons ago seemed a lot more featherweight than ByuL yesterday. I'm wondering how yerim2 will fare given that he was dispatched easily by ByuL in their ACS finals.

game 5 was kinda odd and where did not play to the defensive strengths of zerg. zerg kind of played as if he were on a clock, and he really was not.

And everyone talks about larva but I haven’t seen many good results. So I’d say shine has a nice game and behind Jaedong the scene has been wide open for someone to win some tournaments. Now is your chance shine ol buddy. Shine would've lost 0-4 vs Last. He has decent ZvP and ok ZvZ but that's it.
