I don't recognise the guy on the right for some reason.
On the left, Um Jae-Kyung, the narrative-based commentator responsible for numerous narratives unique to the Ongamenet StarLeague, such as the "Legend of the Fall", and champions who walked the "Royal Road".
On the right, it is none other than Nal_rA himself.

man its so obvious britney doesn't want to leave this MPL as a one time thing, I know I don't want this to be a one and done.

It's TOO good to be a one time thing.
With CJ losing yesterday and Snow out, who is there to stop Flash? STX needs to sweep all their non-flash matchups or it's GG for them.

Good shit Action. Classic defend your 4th while stopping Protoss 4th. Excellent game and a great drop to distract Protoss while killing his 4th with cracklings.

Peaks of Baekdu seems to be a tough map for Protoss agains Zerg. You have to be all over the map, while Zerg can utilize the nydus canal to get around that obstacle. Although, there's not a lot of open space, so Zerg can't really flank Protoss units that easily, so maybe it balances out?

Also, aGarin is randomly flying around the map and just happening to find all of these hidden expos from Jiyu xD. She should just take her regular natural instead of a hidden base.
Jiyu has +1 carapace now but slightly less muta. But she still has the spore and more drones so her ling counter attacks are annoying.

Jiyu looks like she could kill a man.

Oh my god Jiyu won the muta battle and ended up with like 5 extra mutas... that instantly died to scourge after haha. But shes now doubled aGarin's supply and running across the map with 3 control groups of lings.

FlaSh with his trademark 1 rax FE while Shuttle went 1 gate core expand. looked like a 28 nex so pretty standard. We'll have to see if Shuttle opts for a faster 3rd or will he go for a 2 base arbiter play.
Shuttle had a proxy pylon to the north position at the top left natural but FlaSh with his map hacks finds it with an SCV. no robo or citadel building so nothing suspicious but FlaSh knows where to look in the future with his vultures.
|
United States9647 Posts
Double machine shop on both of his factories and a quick 2nd gas for FlaSh. Potentially the looks of a fast 4-5 fact timing to punish Shuttle's fast 3rd at about 6 minutes into the game.
|
United States9647 Posts
Looks like no timing, FlaSh instead went for a 3rd CC and some goliaths to chase out the observers. looks like we'll be moving into a macro game. FlaSh will have a slightly hard time securing a 4th base/3rd gas on this map unless Shuttle fails to hold the middle to stop FlaSh from taking the 6.
|
flashs 2-1 200/200 timing will be before shuttle is maxed. doesn't look good for STX.
|
United States9647 Posts
FlaSh using a brilliant dropship to hit top right which is behind a pylon wall. Goons have to break their own wall down and FlaSh uses that time to kill the cannons with a tank and kill probes with vultures. He then drops the main with vultures but an arbiter pops out right in time to cloak the probes.
FlaSh's macro is absolutely insane though, he's 20 supply UP at 12 minutes into the game. Not sure if FlaSh is just this good or Shuttle's macro is just off today.
Kills all the probes at Shuttle's 4th and then runs into the 3rd and gets more probe kills. FlaSh is comfortably in the driver's seat, even taking the 9 island base for his 3rd gas.
|
|
Classic Flash.
Shuttle must have sent some of his resources back to Aiur or something.
edit:
But wow, perfect engagement by Shuttle
|
holy shit. that was an amazing attack by shuttle.
|
United States9647 Posts
FlaSh moving into the middle of the map with more vultures and a vessel + gols to clear out observers. Man FlaSh's vultures in large numbers are just as scary as Fantasy with 4 vultures running around in your base.
Here comes the 14 minutes maxed 2-1 timing. Shuttle is luckily maxed but with no bank, one bad fight for Shuttle means game over.
OOOOO 3 big stasis on the Terran army, one vessel remains unstasised but almost all of Flash's vultures are in stasis. huge attack by shuttle and great storms cleans Flash's army. Flash is desperately trying to maintain some position to defend the stasised units.
|

That was a glorious push break by Shuttle :o
|
United States9647 Posts
Alright no too bad for FlaSh overall. He got dropped in his island base by zealots so he's forced to stop mining there, but he cleaned out the rest of Shuttle's forces without much difficulty. Shuttle is still on 4 bases while FlaSh has the 6 already mining now.
|
United States9647 Posts
Oh no. Shuttle attacks 6 with a control group of goons but FlaSh uses it to his advantage and traps the goons. He's now able to secure 6 with tanks on the high ground and shuttle is once again even in supply. He really needs to double expand at some point otherwise he's going to get rolled in the economy.
|
United States9647 Posts
ooo another great break by shuttle in the middle of the map and he crushes FlaSh again. HUGE stasis on all of the right units and Shuttle is able to force the lift on 6 while he secures the mineral only 1 oclock.
|
United States9647 Posts
Yeah the difficult part of Grandline is how open the middle is. FlaSh trying to hold that is going to be so difficult, especially with storm to melt the tanks. Hopefully we see more high templar usage in PvT.
Another break in the middle, this time a much closer fight and FlaSh barely holds. He snuck a hidden top left main base but Shuttle sees it with the observer and is now moving over to kill it.
A great recall by Shuttle as well to recall a handful of zealots and goons onto the island base of FlaSh. FlaSh is effectively mined how and no economy now, trying to desperately hold the 6 while Shuttle is now at 182 supply vs 90. Looks good for Shuttle.
|
|
seemed like shuttle got out macro'd/harassed hard in the beginning, but somehow turned the game around with amazing breaks.
|
United States9647 Posts
You can see a clearly frustrated FlaSh talking in his camera now. This is generally when he knows he has lost or is in a horrible position. Shuttle is now swooping down with his massive army to crush FlaSh. Good stasis again and that's all she wrote. Shuttle brings a game back, 1-2 now in favor of KT.
|
Shuttle had a plan: never let Flash push up the Grand Line.
Flash messed up multiple engagements tho.

That’s low key one of the best games of the year. Incredible come back given the position Flash put himself into. Shuttle’s only chance was to dominate the engagements and he nailed it perfectly. Amazing turnaround.

FlaSh was dominating the early-mid game and flubbed his EMPs. Still a glaring weakness in FlaSh's game is his vessels.

This was the third time in history "KT Rolster" won by a score of three-to-one with only Flash losing.
The last time KT Rolster won by a score of 3-1 with only Flash losing was in 28th June 2009 against Woongjin Stars.

Talking about Flash being the reason for a KT-loss, one would also have to mention 2011-12 SK Planet Proleague. I still get mad/sad when I think back, Flash lost both his matches, the 2nd of the series to Fantasy and the ace-match to Bisu, even though the team had pulled it back to a 3-3.
Almost broke my heart at the time. Even though against the other-best Terran and best Protoss of all time, you were so convinced that Flash would win anything given his records at the time... and then he even got knocked out by Fantasy again in the OSL semis, too.

Letting your team down by losing twice in an important post-season series, despite the rest of your team carrying their weight to give the ace player two opportunities to seal the series, is definitely one of the worst things that could happen to a player. However, it was almost a right of passage that numerous team aces had to suffer through:
1) Anytime losing both his matches in SKY 2006 ProLeague R2 post-season series versus MBC Game HERO 2) Bisu losing both his matches in Shinhan 2008 ProLeague post-season series versus OGN Sparkyz 3) Leta losing both his matches in Shinhan 2008/2009 ProLeague post-season series versus CJ Entus 4) Great losing both his matches in Shinhan 2008/2009 ProLeague post-season series versus CJ Entus 5) Jaedong losing both his matches in Shinhan 2008/2009 ProLeague finals series versus SK Telecom T1 6) SnOw losing both his matches in Shinhan 2009/2010 ProLeague post-season series versus SK Telecom T1 7) By.Baby losing both his matches in Shinhan 2009/2010 ProLeague post-season series versus MBC Game HERO 8) Pure losing both his matches in Shinhan 2009/2010 ProLeague post-season series versus MBC Game HERO 9) BeSt losing both his matches in Shinhan 2010/2011 ProLeague finals versus KT Rolster 10) Flash losing both his matches in SK Planet 2011/2012 ProLeague S1 finals versus SK Telecom T1
Flash wasn't alone in receiving such public humiliation. By constantly carrying the burden of being the go-to ace for your team, there is bound to be that off-day where you screw up everything for your team. Professional players who failed utterly to gain the trust of their team never had to face such disgrace. I think that famous Michael Jordan quote is somewhat appicable for this topic:
"I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed."
