Out of the huge-huge player pool from Korea, how it`s only 1-2 Koreans come to Filthy / Have at you / Defiler? in response to number 2: language barrier and koreans aren't willing to play in tournaments at 3 in the morning. you know i wouldn't actually mind seeing a foreign-ran tournament for korean 'star' players. i mean if we got ajae vs foreign all-stars going why wouldn't a monthly work?

Don't get me wrong, I still think what I think regarding the subject. I still think being born in Korea gets u a significant advantage in SC:BW over other countries. Nevertheless, I wrote about it before and I'm not going into this mess again. This has to be the stupidest thing I've ever heard. You must be using this as a figure of speech or something because otherwise it flies in the face of logic, reason, evidence, science, common sense, and rationality. The reaction from trutacz/eonzerg in this thread is cringeworthy. Stop whining about not winning and get better. If you think the viewers of these tournaments are upset because you're not winning, you're hilariously wrong. Nobody cares about you personally, until you start winning. Sorry. Your stream viewers might sympathize with you once in a while, but people watch these tournaments cause they love Brood War, not because they love you .

What meant Bonyth is that if you are born in korea you have access way easier to any other country to starcraft, you can watch way more starcraft, play on fish without lag and speak with koreans to ask and give advices.

That sums it up pretty well. If you're complaining about one player being too good... Practice more? I don't think being born in Korea gives you a significant advantage, if any. Being able to practice the game for 12-15 hours a day will surely give you an advantage over the players who are only able to play a few hours a day. The reason Scan is so good compared to the others is due to the amount of practice he's put into the game. His understanding for the game, his game sense, his multitasking, his apm. 'Top foreigners' are behind Scan in every category listed above. How can you expect to win a game or a series of games vs a player who is WAY more mechanically sound than you? Rather than complaining about him being too good, how about work on your mechanics?

I disliked alot what some of the foreign 'pros' said here but this has to be the most stupid comment of the whole thread. First: Bonyth obviously meant, that if you are born in Korea you just have better options to practise. Be it better training partners, easier accessibility to reaplays or whatever. Second: Of all the people you say this to, you pull this shit on Bonyth? If you ask me who is the one pro in this thread(s) who isn't whining about Scan, is pretty constructive in his criticism, appreciates the series and is still playing the tournaments (if he has time) it's Bonyth (I know there are others). Your comment shows that you haven't bothered to keep up with this thread and the tournament series as a whole.

Your comment shows that you haven't bothered to keep up with this thread and the tournament series as a whole. I 'pulled this shit on Bonyth' because he made the insane comment that somehow the geographical location of your birth determines your skill at anything. What Bonyth 'obviously meant' isn't so 'obvious' to everyone. The problem with your assessment though is the implication that all forms of community growth, scene enhancement, getting better at starcraft, springs from interactions with and information from Koreans. They don't have a monopoly on the ability to get better at Starcraft. What there is, however, is a lack of people outside of SK doing anything resembling deliberate practice. Our best foreigners are basically what Koreans would call casuals, they've just been doing it for 10 years. It's akin to someone playing piano for fun for 20 years. After a decade or so, they'll be passable amateurs, they'll certainly look good to people who haven't played piano before, but professionals will know they've never deliberately practiced. And then there's the small pond problem. Yeah, the foreigner scene suffers from a small pond. There's an artificial skill ceiling cause nobody in this scene does the real work to break out of the 'foreigner' skill level. So you're just intermixing with people who have equally limited skill ceiling. MindGamesWeldon talks about this for TSM and League of Legends, but that scene is a lot healthier than ours.

You try to deny that? It's a fact. A known fact and I totally agree that you have an advantage being Korean, having access to Korean scene, clans, practice partners and other stuff. Go through all of the international tournaments, including WCGs and tell me that Koreans didn't dominate people from around the globe. There were times that foreigners were pretty close to Korean level or had some good games (Fisheye, Draco, Blackman, Android and many others) but you cannot decline the fact that being Korean helps YOU BY A LOT.

Correlation is not causation. It's not a fact, it's actually scientifically (and logically, common sensibly) false.

I am *not* discontinuing the Filthy BW Cup due to low player turnout. I am *not* discontinuing the Filthy BW Cup due to low viewership on stream. I am *not* discontinuing the Filthy BW Cup due to lack of money or resources. I *AM* discontinuing the Filthy BW Cup due to the constant complaining of the foreign players. I'm really bummed about this. I wanted to keep these going through the release of Remastered, and put a lot of additional funds/effort behind growing it. I have Day[9] lined up and ready to cast some of these (dont worry, I'm gonna get him to cast one before we call it quits). I really wanted to make this work. Sadly, the community made running these events *suck* for me, and its not like I was getting any return on this in the first place. Each of these events costs me $50-$100 to run (depending on how good people are about using matcherino codes), and I might make $1 in revenue from the stream. So if everyone wants to make me miserable, why bother wasting my time? Now, as for my own involvement (and PSISTORM Gaming's) going forward in the BW/Remastered scene? It is too early to say. If the scene picks up, the team might sign a pro player to our roster. I can tell you one thing for certain, however. If we do, it wont be a foreign player. Regarding the region locking on my SC2 tournaments. It is not super relevant to the discussion, honestly. I started those as region locked, in a time when there were just no NA tournaments. There are lots of them now, so I relaxed it from NA to "Americas", with 1 week in every 4 being completely open. I actually would love to remove all the region locking from the events, and it is something I've been thinking about for quite a while. I havent done it yet because, historically, my Global events have had double prize pools/etc.. and I am not sure if I would maintain that if every week is Global. There are also considerations with the sponsors of that event that have to be sorted out before I could make that decision. In any event - these tours will continue through July 2nd. If you want to play in them in the meantime and get some free money, awesome - go nuts! Have fun! Just quit wasting my time with all the complaining.

I wouldnt say that generalizing the entire community from 3 people who play BW is a good idea. Then again, I am way more surprised you're not cancelling this right now, esp with all the posts going on right now.
