The games will all run concurrently, so the time posted there is kind of the latest and earliest (starting your group stage games later means everyone will need to wait for you to finish the games later, and it'll set the tournament behind. Asking for a 4-6 hour investment for no monetary reward is already quite a bit already, wouldn't want to increase that time further). I've been hearing some feedback, and some people would like it pushed back an hour or two, so for future editions, I'll look into it.
It's a fine balance between it being too early for NA people and too late for EU people, I want to cater to both continents. Asia isn't a big priority for me, and while it'd be nice to have Australia and whatnot, not really feasible to accommodate that many timezones.
Right now for most of EU it starts at 6pm, assuming the tournament last 5 hours (I'll see exactly how the schedule plays out after the first event), that's 11pm... And it's a Sunday night, so people have work/school. I wouldn't really want to push it further... Waking up at 8:45am pacific time shouldn't be THAT difficult, compared to having stay up until midnight or 1am on a work night.

Well I work on Monday, so that's why, hah.
And no, no-shows need to be "punished" otherwise it'll become the standard. There will be room for more, so as long as you sign up an hour before the tournament starts, you'll be fine (which is what I'd prefer if you're uncertain if you can make it). Heck, if you just show up before the tournament starts, I'm sure I'll be nice enough to just quickly add you into the bracket, or replace a inevitable no-show.
Would be great to have you play, though you're scaring away all the D players

Dual and triple casts would be great, really hard to know who will show up to cast and for how long, though a few people have already said they would, so that's super cool. I just wouldn't like to be stuck solo-casting for an extended period of time.

I should be there though. Unless real life happens then yes please punish me master.
To be clear if someone else wants stargate then let them have it but I'm okay staying there as well to fill the slot.

It's happened before. I created a hacked map once that let me cast scarab and psi storms from reavers. Was OP.

You could always do a check-in period 1 hour prior to start time so you don't have to wait on people who signed up and then didn't show.

So much extra time and waking up early though. I'll try it doing the way I had initially planned for the first time, and replace/remove any players if they don't show up (as well as add them on the naughty list).
Also, SCC-Just cancelled his position, so another spot is open in Stargate Cup. Registrations are still open guys, come play, particularly all the D people I know that are being too scared to compete, the Robotics Cup isn't filled with superstars!
