Hmm, all the groups have ~35-40 participants, check out the draws on the Challonge links. My post above just lists some progamers of interest who are scheduled to compete

well nal ra (강민) lost, but things really are the first round. No surprises should be expected I assume of the good players but I can go through some of the brackets. it's more some of the rusty pross to look for
it looks like there was some bracket fuck up and stork got pissed. he beat someone 2-0 but somehow the brackets got messed up and he had to replay that same opponent. he nearly lost that match but still won 2-1.

Yeah, wtf is holding up Stork's match...
Bisu in Ro4 of Bracket #2
Stork was told he had a bye and played against his next round opponent and won with 2-0. Then they told him that he didn't have a bye and he has to play the guy for previous round and if he beats him he has to play the guy he just beat 2-0 previously to advance. Stork was pissed but he went on to beat the guy and beat the other again with 2-1. He said he almost lost. Just wow....

8 speedzeals moving out, but zerg 3rd is defended with 3 sunks + sim city, he instead went to the nat with +3 zeals, tried attacking front because 3rd sunk not finished
not being able to attack at front, he did 3 archon 2 zeal elevator at zerg 4th base, although zerg used that missing anti air to attack protoss nat and main with mutas (only 1 cannon each base)
killing lots of probes, p tried to elevator archon/zeal into zerg main, but shuttle got killed, then he tried to kill 3rd from both sides with archon/zeal (+ rest from zerg 4th) but 8+ sunkens were too much, protoss gg'ed

now watching sea streaming terror. terror bottom left vs terran top right on CB, terror went for 3 hatch muta and t 1 rax cc into 2 rax aca, terror defend with 3 sunks.
ah terran player is mind. mind went up to 4 rax tank vessel and pushes out with mnm, terror buying time with muta/ling coming from the high ground outside mind natural.
ah, somebody else is streaming it from mind's side. he did fast dropship, dropped 3rd base killing some drones, then dropped main and killed lots of drones, lost dropship to mutas on way back. but he did too much damage, terror gg'ed
ok got a stream, terror top left vs mind bottom right on eots. it looks like terror went 12 hatch 2 hatch mass ling vs 1 rax cc into 2 rax with bunker, terror managed to get lots of lings into mind's base, mind defending with lots of scv football
that ling harass went on for really long time, constantly reinforcing with more lings. firebats save the day, only for mutas to come in and win. mind gg's
mind is using his scv to block the 3rd hatch at natural, so terror makes it above ramp, still scouting for random hidden fac, makes sunken and see floating rax at mind natural with ovi
the moment his backdoor was mined out, 4 vultures flood into the natural, making him stay at home with his lings until hydras are out (he went 3 hatch ling speed into hydra den) terror not looking happy.
back to the game, fd terran vs 1 gate goon with no nexus, mong making bunker + turrets sending vultures to scout. vulture dies in p main to dt(2 gate dt). goons try to soften up mine field for dts. But mong had enough mines and turret is up. 2 tank + bunker holding.

pushing out at the top path, killing proxy citadel on the way and marches towards p base. p tried killing the attack midway, but just had too little. Mong wins
mong playing tvz now. Mong top left vs bottom right zerg on CB. zerg played 2 hatch muta if i saw that correctly. mong playing 2 rax aca into 4 rax. zerg played rather drone heavy and got 3rd base at 3.
first mutas arrive at mongs nat. mong pushing out forcing mutas to fight mnm in middle of map. nice muta micro easily killed all mnm, now mong adding more turrets
mutas attacking nat, mong trying to move out. mutas killing some mnm trying to cross the bridge, going back an forth, but with mong at advantage, no real eco damage done by zerg.
mong army at high ground pot, zerg trying to kill it with muta+ 1 group of ling, kills mnm but loses all lings and some mutas. mong following up with 2 port wraith
zerg went guard/devourer/ling now attacking terran nat, but only had 2 devourer vs 6+ wraith. mong fell back with mnm and had wraith kill all guards, after that. zerg gg'ed.
mong moves out further towards zerg 3rd base at 3, kills 2 muta for free with good focus fire. zerg making many mutas. after that snipe, mong went back to reinforce and catched mutas a moving to that position, killing another 2-3 mutas for free.
mong attacking 3rd base while reinforcements are scattered in middle of map. mutas catch the middle part of those marines offguard, killed like 8 marines for free. front part charged for 3rd but also got killed easily. but mong had strong macro + lots of mnm, now goin out with 3 tank 1 vessel push and 2-3 groups of mnm. zerg switched to lurkers.
mong attack 3rd base at 3 from above. zerg buying time with lurkers. but zerg backed of to his nat, making it easy for mong to simply walk into 3rd base. zerg tries to attack that mnm position now, but too many mnm easily surround the lurkers and make mong win the game. mong wins 2-0
This shit is out of control, just tuned in. Only 1 zerg? Jaedong must advance next time, his group was easiest - an amateur and unknown (at least for me) Hint.
Group 1: Sexy, Tyson, TerrOr Group 2: sSak, Brainsin, Shinee Group 3: Leta, Soma Group 4: Bale, Ample Group 5: sKyHigh, Zergstyle, Britney, Miso Group 6: GuemChi, Snow, HoeJJa Group 7: Jaedong, trOt, Scan, Sky Group 8: PianO, Iris Group 9: Noble, s2, hero Group 10: Light, Shine, Lazy Group 11: FBH, Spire, Rush Group 12: Rain, Horang2, BeaSt, Modesty
I am more hyped for this tournament than all 2016 SC2 tournaments combined. So many nostalgic names: firebathero, HiyA, Snow, Light, HoeJJa, sSak, Leta, Iris, Modesty.

Exactly my thoughts. So many stars applied, Afreeca should seriously think about making this more open, I want this to start from ro32.
Damn Terror was trying so hard and won against idk who, was terran, maybe Sexy? Terror truly deserves his spot on this ASL. Now to beat the shit out of Tyson (if he hasn't done it yet ) and advance.

Yes! You suck, ssuk. That's what you get for knocking out EffOrt last season.
Actually it was Shuttle who culprit of upset with that comeback using maelstrom and storms. And Effort is playing so bad lately, getting knocked out on Thrill Starleague on group vs. Sharp, Sky and Hoejja is such a shame...
Sexy vs. TerrOr - you can't ask for better finals He played vs. only terrans so it's good for him. Let's go Terror! Also his buddy Britney got this, no way he loses to Miso or someone else.
As much as it helps the scene, it's still a delicate balance because for the better or worst, the fanbase in Korea is largely made up of player-fans rather than game-fans.

Absolutely true. But I'm a bit selfish in that I like seeing what new & interesting strategies the no-names bring to the table.

Nothing wrong with wanting either no-names or big name players in the starleauge. ^^
Shuttle said on stream that JD is sensitive to people very close to his pc(during games) so I'm assuming that includes no pov's or interviews. Perhaps he can do interviews after the qualifiers

Thx! Its a poor excuse, but im too used to 144hertz monitor. And i also admit jaedong deserves it. It is my fault for not practicing and playing as the similar pc setting to qualification. I hope jd can get some good result of asl2.
OMEKIM advances! Out of all on his group I think he's most capable reaching ro8. Let's see.
Also Scan's excuse last time was mouse and now monitor Keep fighting! Knowing you gonna face JD and still going to Busan puts you above than HiyA who pussied out 2 times when he got decent shot.

I think i played better than last asl. Probably able to take down almost every amatuer without having any troubles.
From what i felt against jd today is that hes aggressive with his ling muta. Most of zerg just uses muta ling only and has lurkers for expos. But he brought his lurkers and slowly contained my natural. I engaged multiple times when lurker count was low but he protected his lurkers and wasted muta ling only which brought me into the edge.

I think that the ASL should do like, if you qualified for the tournament the last two times, you shouldn't need to qualify again.
Im getting old that military administrative officers are sending me a letter to do my duty. Im not like flash bisu nor jaedong. Poor achievements and careers to keep delaying mine. Idk if theres next for me.
scan can you give us a little more insight? who did you play yesterday/today (akas?), what builds did you/enemy use? have there been lots of no shows again? it feels like more than 50% is no show
Pretty even split of the races Hoping some Zerg make it interesting in the bracket

Well his recent results show that he certainly practices enough. And it might be the cultural difference, but in my opinion dodging the nicest tournament of the year is so much worse than losing...

On December 06 2016 10:27 zyzzbrah888 wrote: can someone tell me about Stork vs Rush and Free vs Miso ? anyone clear favourite ? i have no idea about BW
Stork and Free are clear favourites, they have loads of stage experience and both of them are members of the Six Dragons. I'd say both of them were at generally the top player on their respective team for most of their career. All 4 players are ex-pros, where Miso and Free were on the same team. Rush is a decent player who arguably has the ability to win against anyone, even on stage. Miso is the kind of guy I'd advise not to look for any success in BW and just enjoy playing the game as he is a nice guy. Compared to other pros he's always been at the bottom and I don't ever really see that change. The only way I see him advance out of this group is if he knows an insider weakness of Free and is extremely lucky. And I feel Miso has to win 2 games for that. He will have to cross his fingers that Rush will beat Stork. Stork is the most successful player here. I'm quite positive the following will be the outcome of this group: 1.Stork/Free 2. Free/Stork 3. Rush 4. Miso
