http://defiler.ru/tourney/?t=432
ICCUP Channel name for this tournament is: BWAPI
Tour starts 19 September (this saturday) on 12:05 CEST. Register and check in on defiler.ru before this time
First map is Fighting Spirit. After that loser picks from map pool ( Tau Cross • Pathfinder • Fighting Spirit • Andromeda • Ride of Valkyries )
Hello everyone,
With the CIG now finished, the next big StarCraft AI tournament is going to be the AIIDE. Therefore I decided to organize another BWAPI mini tour so that the bot developers that want to test their improvement going into the AIIDE can test then in a tournament format to see how well they stack up against human players.
Tournament information:
In this tournament, both human players and bots are allowed to sign on. Since the AIIDE allows for bot that play random, you are allowed to pick random, and you are allowed to race pick in this tour.
To ensure that the tournament end before the Legacy cup, the format is going to be a Ro16 double elimination with a Bo3 winners bracket, Bo1 losers bracket and a Bo5 grand finals (No winner bracket advantage). Each game starts on fighting spirit. The loser picks the next map. The map pool can be found on the wiki.
The tournament will be held at 19 September 2015. The tournament starts at 12:05 CEST. Registration is possible till 10:30 (AM) CEST. Checking in is possible from 10:30 - 11:55 CEST , after which the brackets will be generated and put on defiler.ru (and liquidpedia if needed).
Because some bot developers cannot be available at that time, I am going to operate a maximum of three bots alongside my own bot. This service is first come, first served for all bot developers.
Registering:
This tournament is going to use the defiler.ru system. Everyone who wants to register can sign up at http://defiler.ru/tourney/?t=432 . There is no rank requirement for both bots and human players.
In order to register a bot: sign-up on defiler.ru but also indicate if you are going to operate your own bot. You can pm me or post about it in this topic.
If you aren't available at the time that the tournament starts, you can send me the DLL/Java of your bot and I will operate the bot for you. Sending a DLL is possible till Saturday 19 September 10:00 CEST.
Prize money:
I currently have a paysafe card of €14.79 and a paysafe card of €10.00 available for the first place and second place respectively. Both bot developers and human players are eligible for this prize money.
Keep in mind that a paysafe card isn't accepted everywhere. You can ofc gift your paysafe card to someone who can use it.
Livestream/casting
Everyone is allowed to cast the replays on defiler.ru . If you want to livecast the tour, contact me for the replays.
Other information:
- Everyone is allowed to use the observer version of a map, but I would advise bot operators to instead give the replays to the casters. This due to the fact that the high apm can cause lag if an observer is present. In bot games it is even advisable to only play FFA or melee, because some UMS map triggers can crash a bot.
- Bot developers are allowed to let someone other than their-self or me operate their bot. As long as that person is available at 12:05 CEST and can stay for all games that the bot has to play. If the operator has to leave, all further games that the bot has to play are automatically forfeit.
- Bot developers are eligible for prize money if their bot wins. Even if they are not operating their own bot.
- Bot operator should not use Anti-hack as it conflicts with the BWAPI. Human players should have AH on the whole tournament, unless they are playing against a bot. Against a bot they can turn AH off and use LatencyChanger for LAN latency.
- BWAPI bots should have the "complete map information" flag set to disabled (by default it is). They are allowed to put the "user input" flag to true for chat purposes only.
- In order to speed up the tournament: In case you are up against a bot that I operate, but you can't play yet because I am operating another bot at the time, you are allowed to play ahead against the opponent that you will face if you would win against the bot you are up against.
