Max Rank of C- is allowed, though if you are a player that has hit C and played in DRTL exceptions may be made on a case by case basis. In case of seemingly strong players without ladder results they will be evaluated by a committee consisting of myself, and several others (TBA). It's subjective, but that's the best we can do
It hasn't been an issue in the past but I want to be abundantly clear. If you have been C-/C/B/A++ at any point, do NOT post your max rank as D+ xxxx pts. This applies to any account. If you've been 5000 pts on one account, but only 2700 on another your max rank must be posted as 5000.
Failure to read and follow this properly will result in tournament inelgibility
After that, the 16 players will be randomly seeded into a single elimination bracket. Maps will be predecided.

Who can play: This league is only for D-/D/D+/C- rank players who are willing to participate consistently. This means MAX RANK. On ANY account. You cannot signup with a D/C- account if you have been C or higher on another.
You may ask to play even if you don't fit the criteria and we will review the case.
**The exception are players with previous DRTL/DRIT entries. Most of these players are exempt for having to inform me of their situation as I already am aware.**
How to sign up: You can indicate your interest by posting your:
TL Name: XXXXX ICCup Akas: Main ID, other known ID 1, other known ID 2, etc. Highest Max Rank achieved on ANY account Race/Matchups: (Please just use letters, ie. TvZ/PvT instead of the tlpd icons. It's much easier to read) DRTL Team you're on/Previous DRITs:
New Players to DRIT: Please include your ICCup account name that has at least 20 games played, minimum 10 replays at least 10 minutes long PM'd to LMaster. Your TL account must also be older than the start of this thread with minimal exceptions. The decisions by the admins for your entry are final.
There is one MAJOR difference. In this tour, D-/D/D+ players will essentially be playing a double elimination tour, and once eliminated will drop into a lower bracket containing just D-/D/D+ players. If you're C- and lose however, you're out. The purpose of this is to allow for a larger overall field and give D players a chance to play stronger guys, but also have a meaningful tournament within that

I already forfeit and nominate Telecom as the winner. As someone who has defeated numerous progamers, was in ever and is clearly the best god damn protoss on teamliquid i dont even consider myself worthy to be in the same tournament with such a high caliber player.
you also run the risk of letting terran players "offrace" as protoss, and then become instantly better in the vs T matchup than they ever were as a terran.

Not to start a balance discussion...but to start a balance discussion: + Show Spoiler +
that's pretty rare.
Maybe it's true at low D's where no one is especially good mechanically or strategically and the easier toss mechanics pay off, but beyond that...not really.
I agree with L_Master here. I've 'off-raced' for fun with TvP and trying to play TvZ or ZvP and I am horrible. This was even when I was at my peak in gaming. I think posters here are really over estimating it. If a guy has played for a while and is C as Zerg or Terran and he were to offrace as Protoss, then he would probably struggle to even get high D+.

You could probably do pretty well in Arcania Starleague by just showing up on time every week and taking walkovers lol If a D player REALLY wanted to try and take as many walkovers as possible a top 3 finish could somehow happen with excellent bracket luck. The one hour time difference does suck tho and I don't blame people for signing up for this instead

Should be possible to work out PPs, no?
I don't wanna talk too much about my tournament in this thread but yeah it could be worked out with postponements.
Players can reschedule their games to be played before the scheduled play time or postpone for some time after it but they should be aware that I have a very firm replay submission deadline of 24 hours past the default game time even for postponed games. So for example, they could postpone their Arcania Starleague game to 23 hours later but doing so would only leave them an hour to play their game and submit the replay.
When players play their games for my tournament is up to the players themselves. I set a hard deadline for 24 hours later to make sure that the games can be casted in a timely manner as well as to make sure the tournament keeps progressing smoothly etc.
If a significant amount of players from DRIT would like to participate in Arcania Starleague but aren't feeling confident about the scheduling concerns I'm willing to consider moving the scheduled time to an hour later or something so that there's extra time but it can get somewhat difficult for people in European time zones. Like I said though, Arcania Starleague should probably be discussed in the Arcania Starleague thread. I'll be happy to answer questions or discuss things there with people.
Good luck to everyone participating in DRIT though and have fun!

It's not that serious lol, I think it makes sense to discuss it in either thread since there is obvious scheduling issues.
For anyone still asking questions about today, Lmaster posted in the other thread that this league will be delayed by one week so he can complete his Jury duty.

3rd place from groups will be competing for 3 spots to form a Ro16. So you have top 2 from each group moving on (12), plus KivA with the bye (13), and then the 3 spots from 6 3rd place finishers (16).
Keep in mind that when D-/D/D+ guys are eliminated they will fall into their own separate tournament bracket.
If evileye, icedraco and/or hollerado come, they go through in 2.
Precise enough? :p
Not off to a great start
haha I'm glad that I was wrong here. GL in the tour!
However, from experience, I'd say the chances are good that somebody else wont show up ^^. Honestly, 5/24 not showing up might even be an underestimate xD

Uh I'm really sorry about this, but it seems you missed my post before in that I can't play in this due to the fact I'm moving at the end of the week. Is there a chance you could get someone to replace me quickly, because I'd hate to think I'm ruining things

I'll play if it's not too late to enter, I somehow missed this thread and I see there's at least one person getting a bye into the next round, plus another signup after the groups were announced. Able to make another group? I would need reschedules too

Well I'm not moving now until 3 weeks time so I could probably play, I'll probably be a bit of a walkover though unless I can get a bunch of practice in beforehand and I'll need a reschedule as Saturday we're sorting more packing.
This move has been a total annoyance. If it's easier then you can give my spot to Birdie and I'll play next time :>

Well, I cannot give it to him outright as other people have asked beforehand, but if you don't play them someone can slot in.
So in answer to Birdie, you can show up and if there are no shows (which there usually are) you should be able to join.

This sounds fair, but isn't the default time ridiculously early where birdie lives?
edit: I believe there were 2(?) people that asked before Birdie. If they can get accomodated and Birdie is the only one left out, I wouldn't mind him taking my spot (of course only if the rest of my group are ok with it and the probable subsequent rescheduling). I will be around at the default time anyway and I could jump in if there are no shows (which is quite likely as you said...)
edit 2: Maybe you can waitlist everybody who (has signed up after group selection/) will sign up from now on, and allow them to fill spots for any no shows.

No last time he played was D/C-RTL pilot league. That was a month ago.
Like I had thought, hit C once. Definitely nowhere near C+, usually by that point you can cruise up into yellow territory just dropping a few games, but RulZ is clearly grinding his way up ranks.
You're just looking at stats and not the actual games. Rulzbooom is way ahead of anyone else in this tournament. He has eight losses this season so far. Let's go over them individually.
One loss to ColdDevil who has an 86% win rate over 93 games this season and no previous season history. ColdDevil was C rank this season once already and C- another time. He's clearly smurfing to troll/beat up on D rankers.
One loss to iiN.Winfred a player that is currently over 3700 and was C+ last season with a 65% win rate.
One loss to Ty2 - very consistent C+ player. His stats on the DepressedOne ID were 37-7 last season.
One loss to 0T_T0_sask - this guy is c- and from his matchlist looks super cheesy (you decide what that means) but he seems able to take games off C players regularly.
One loss to By.Movie - literally a progamer (probably the same type of player as 0T_T0_sask) lol.
One loss to ozzy. - There's like no information on this guy but looking at his current matchlist he doesn't seem D rank at all.
One loss to DL)Zimek - This guy is C+ right now and went 6-2 vs iiN.Phobia another C+ player. Zimek could be B- if he keeps laddering.
Final loss to eldrus5000 - 70% winrate player that beat a lot of other players Rulzbooom lost to (such as ColdDevil), he beat Handy several times(was a TSL player and is like 40-10 C+ now), went 3-2 vs radley.
TL;DR - Rulzboom is only losing to players that are really fucking good and definitely would "cruise up into yellow territory just dropping a few games" as you put it if he wasn't fortunate enough to run into C+ players so often.
Remove all of the losses to C+ or higher players and that leaves two losses to 0T_T0_sask and By.Movie (who he also won a game against). His stats would be 19-2 C-.
Stats aside, if you watch a lot of his games they're pretty telling IMO.

I have been contemplating if I should play in this league myself, since I believe that I am clearly superior to a lot of the participants. I have mentioned in several DRTL/DRIT threads that I consider the skill gap between a player who can hold C- and one that cannot to be very large (in comparison to 1 or 2 rank skill gap from C rank and above), leaving the weaker player only a miniscule (if any) chance for an upset. This was also the reason why I dropped out of DRTL mid-season. I was sure that there were multiple players who were not weaker than me and even a few that I considered myself the underdog against, but due to the random nature of pairings landslide victories were a regular occurrence, and the off-chance for 1 or 2 even games while having 5-6 stompings seemed neither appealing nor fair. That's why I greatly approve of the format D/C-RTL pilot league, which in most cases offers players a fair chance to win.
That being said, I am fairly certain that neither my mechanics nor my game knowledge are anywhere close to C+ level. While I deem myself among the favorites for the title in this tour, I feel that there are 5-6 players who would be on even footing in a boX against me (With half of them I've had recent very sobering experiences; the overwhelming majority being P; obviously I cannot know how many will actually show up) This and the fact that D players will get their own bracket after dropping out from the main tour, made me decide that I wouldn't be breaking the spirit of competition if I were to play here.

While neither XRTL stats nor iccup stats offer a very accurate image of one's skill, I feel that hundreds of iccup games allow for a somewhat better indication of skill in comparison to 40 or so TL event games. For accuracy sake, I did go 6-0 in drtl before moving on to CRTL and going 7-1. However, for me to be able to beat players I believe were clearly better than me, I had to put a lot of effort into preparation. For most CRTL games this meant: - getting advice and picking a specific build order for the map and mu (that avoids the late game) - several vs AI games just to select optimal scouting patterns and building placements - 5-15 vs player games doing the same build over and over again - having somebody (almost always dcemberzerg from my team) watch my replays and offer improvements
As I said, I do not think that D/D+ players could make any upsets, but I'm not the only player in the tour that represents a seemingly impenetrable wall for them, and they would end up in a D bracket afterwards, anyway. At the same time, some players that have been doing ok at C- level might be able to upset players better than them just like I did in CRTL, given some moderate amount of dedication and preparation.

I dare you to watch all of my PvP wins in the most recent tournaments I've played (your tour, crimson 1 and CRTL 2). You should be able to spot a common theme ^^ Not that I recommend, but if you really want to have a clearer picture of my PvP skill, you can also watch my losses in this matchup in the tournaments mentioned above...
I realize that my PvT in your tour might have looked way out of the scope of the D/C-RIT. However, it's my best matchup and I have been vocal about my opinion that PvT in low ranks is an extremely hard uphill battle for the terran. I honestly believe that the terran needs to be mechanically way better than P in order to stand a chance in the late game.
On a side note: The player by.movie I went 1-1 against on iccup has a Bolivian IP and thus most likely is not the Korean toss we all love.
As I've said, I believe that there are at least 5 people in the tour who should have at least a 50:50 chance against me. My opinion on 4 of them is based on recent experience. Of course, I might as well be making up bullshit excuses... Anyway, if people really feel that I should not play in the tournament I wouldn't mind having Lmaster exclude me.
It's like you think I'm basing this on one of your matchups or something, and yes, I know that By.Movie isn't the real Movie. We can disagree on it but I stand by my statement.

Stats aside, if you watch a lot of his games they're pretty telling IMO.
I dunno i just feel like you are going to shit on this entire tournament tbh. But I havent actually been around the DRTL/IT scene in a while now so its pretty difficult to say

if you had said something before we play i could have maybe agreed to it but you didn' t say anything. Usually i play P vs random cause theres more chance of pvz or pvt than pvp. then we could have had a normal game instead of the cheesy hydra bust you pulled off. In a real macro match you would have lost to me.
haha stop crying pebble444 :D:D you lost, so what, its a game. how do you know you would win? it was our first game, noob. except that, i only lost like 3-4 units during the whole game..you suck

I imagine the issue between a random vs a racepicker would be the random can't actually random against them, since the other guy plays different MUs depending on what race they get. The guy's english is terrible, so I can't tell if this is actually what hes complaining about, but it doesn't sound like he is complaining about random players.
well if your czech language is as good as my english, you can show me... idiot... ./.
I missed this before, but as you are relatively new to Team Liquid, I would advise you to take a less aggressive approach when communicating on this forum.
and i will say that anytime to anybody again, esp. when some stupid american tries to tell me my english is bad, meanwhile he can only speak english. thats agressive. he cant even say "hello" in czech and still bitching about my english. retard

Alright I'm going to need some definitely help compiling all this. Can people please post results (spoiler free would be nice) for the groups that they know of.
Pretty sure there were a shit ton of walkovers, so it's quite possible most, if not everyone, that showed up will end up advancing, but I need results to figure out exactly what the situation is.
On the plus side, should be a pretty active tour after that

That leaves 4 spots, to be compete for by the remaining players. Basically I'm excluding "no call, no show" walkovers. If people were trying to schedule games OR posted in thread they couldn't make it I'm letting them have a shot at getting into Ro16, which leaves:

3rd place from groups will be competing for 3 spots to form a Ro16. So you have top 2 from each group moving on (12), plus KivA with the bye (13), and then the 3 spots from 6 3rd place finishers (16).
Keep in mind that when D-/D/D+ guys are eliminated they will fall into their own separate tournament bracket.

Yes. But there were so many walkovers it caused problems. Some groups didn't even have third place people, or even second place people; and I'd rather include players who showed up to play over those that did not.
Anybody that actually finished third in a group is still in the running to get into the Ro16, so no one that I said would get a chance to play is being excluded. This change basically allowed a few 4th place guys and a couple of people that couldn't work out a time to also get a second chance at advancing.

AoT finished first in my group, master_soul and myself never were able to play our final match due to scheduling incompatibility and then a bit of lack of communication on his part, he did show up on game day though and tried to reschedule so it's good you're including him in any case!

Well, he will have a week and a half to respond. If I do here from him by Friday of next week then both the people that finish second in this weeks qualifier for Ro16 will have to play off, Bo3, with loser being knocked out (or down to D bracket depending on situation)

So I'm rather confused. Are these groups A and B an additional round to get into the Round of 16, already occupied by that first list of names (Ngenuity, Hollerado, JXN, etc) Or is this the Loser's bracket for D ranked players?

The former, each group is competing for 2 slots into the Ro16.

That sounds like a great friday night, bro.
Dude you have no idea (or maybe you do), but this shit really fucked me up. Absolutely a bad trip sort of experience. I had no idea what pot was going to do or the extent of its effect. I had no idea what was going on around me, almost seeing double at times, perception of time was totally off, disoriented, etc. At one point I was absolutely certain I was going to die and was trying to get my friends to call an ambulance. Then after that I took like 3 steps away from them and thought I had left the building.
All in and all it was a really scary experience, without friends I feel pretty comfortable saying there is a good chance I could have killed myself by walking into a road or something else of that nature.
Now, that next afternoon was a little better...but still stressful because I had to work later that day and had no idea if I would be sober (I wasn't).

Whoa, that's a big letdown... after your first post, I assumed you actually had some more fun "edibles"... On the other hand, I can imagine the confusion. After eating a "heavely enhanced" brownie, I couldn't even walk for a few hours. It wasn't a bad trip though, since I perceived it as fun, it was just that there were no motor functions present anymore... I'd advice against going overboard when trying a substance for the first time. Also, more experienced friends would have probably made for a much better trip. Having a guru friend put you in the right mindset goes a long way and can make even extreme trips to another dimension be a pleasant experience.
On a more relevant note, I won't be able to play this weekend. I can play all day thursday (CET) and Friday till 15:00 GMT (+00:00). Also, probably Sunday 19:00 GMT (+00:00) and for up to 5 hours later - Mo, Tue, Wed just like Sunday.
Well, I had good friends there...but I was not in a position or mindset to be talked into a positive experience. Wasn't intended to be such a ridiculous amount, but naivety wins out. I figured a small portion of a single brownie wouldn't have been so lethal, but apparently the batch was made from like 7 months of vape...which may not be alot, since I don't know anything about pot, but it sounds like a large quantity depending on how concentrated it is.

There is no ego in this it all, he was doing exactly as required per the rules and be explicit about his skill. Well into C- is an honest assessment of skill, no different than saying "high C-" or anything similar. Saying he feels he might be too strong for the league is also appropriate, given the nature of this league. If he doesn't say that, then he runs the risk of me kicking him out for trying to bullshit his way in by being misleading about his skill level.

I'd prefer to reschedule just so we can both practice and have a more entertaining series . I'm free all next week, as I have reading week, so long as its not really early EST. Message me whatever day/time fits you best.

Sounds good. Pretty much any day will work except Wednesday and Thursday evening. My time is PST.

Wed and Thurs are probably the best days for me . Are you free like, 9-10 pm pst thursday? I dont mind playing lateish in my time zone, im a night owl anyway.
Well that was silly, with the snow the drive home turned into a 3 hour affair.
My track record for this has been abysmal so far in terms of making matches, so if rescheduling is inconvenient feel free to take W.O. if you want Hafnium.
Whoever my r08 opponent is, contact me for when a match is good for you. I'm busy this saturday, and given I dont even know who you are, I think we should wait a bit and practice.
I won my match in the ro16 but I do not know who yet I will play in the RO8. Whoever it is, I work on Saturday and need to postpone. I am free anytime on Sunday. Just let me know. Please and thank you.

Last legs? It's doing better than anytime since 2010.
Foreign scene is a little dead, but thats due to lack of tours.

Hey )Sky(Blood are you going to enable past broadcasts to be viewed or make highlights out of them? Cause atm nothing is available on your twitch channel.
Hi guys I'm really sorry, had some technical difficulties (had been up for many hours and passed out). I will still be streaming this game at a later time. Most likely on Saturday, if not then on monday.
edit: I was actually wondering that, I thought they just auto saved. I think the program im using doesnt want me to locally record and broadcast at the same time w/o payment. If theres a way to enable twitch to save them please tell me
double edit: okay looks like ive found the button. next casts will be saved for a period of time, apparently, and from that I can pick out the highlights.
I lost to Napoleon 2-3. I believe he should have the replays. I also want to say thank you for hosting this event and thank you to everyone who participated. This is my first 1v1 tournament. You guys made it fun for me. Much appreciated.
Could the r08 players send their replays to interested casters and post the actual score and match by match score, here? Theres like no replays released and no real information on almost all the games played so far.

It will be on my stream. I'm thinking this Tuesday, but not quite sure on the time. If I recall correctly something like 9:00 PM EDT works pretty well for both NA/EU?

That's 3AM for EU. I wouldn't call that working well.

Easter is this weekend (April 5), is he just going on a really long vacation? Ideally I'd like to have the finals on a weekend so it can be live casted and people can watch

Yes I'm on a really long vacation and unfortunately I have not brought my keyboard with me, don't really fancy playing using the laptop keyboard to be honest (diff. layour and its crap). The earliest weekend that I can do would be the 18/19th April.

To add some excitement to the finals I decided to hold an interview with myself.
So Artanis, you've made it to the finals. How do you feel? I feel fantastic. Making it to the DRIT finals has been a lifelong dream of mine that I've finally managed to realize, right up there with skydiving, having sex and becoming the president of Guatemala. I hope I'll be able to show good games for my fans.
You'll be facing HaFnium in the finals, a Protoss player from Wales. What do you think about him? He's a scrub.
What? He's Protoss. It's the easiest race in the game. That means he's a scrub by default.
Are you calling Bisu a scrub? Maybe I am. What of it?
You might make some people upset. Those people are probably scrubs too.
Aaanyway, what do you think of your chances? Well, I haven't practiced a single game since my last DRIT match so I don't know, but ZvP has always been my best matchup, probably because Protosses don't have much skill in general. I'm expecting a lot of proxy 2 gates and cannon rushes, they're pretty much his only hope. If he doesn't catch me unaware it should be an easy 4-0.
Do you have any last words? Live a long and healthy life, enjoy the game and listen to Valravn's first album a lot. It's a fantastic album. + Show Spoiler +

Unfortunately I'm at work, we've been short staffed so I've had to pick up some of the workload. If someone can livecast that would be really cool, if not I'm planning to cast on Wednesday
That was rather unfortunate, tried to use an old laptop to stream but quality was horrible.
Sorry for the delay and unexpected technical issues, I'll have to try and find some other form of streaming to cast soon, so cast will be a little delayed, and hopefully more suitable for the European viewers.
I tried casting again at Wednesday, Jun 03 11:00am GMT (GMT+00:00) but it seems like for whatever reason, some technical reasons seem to keep popping up to prevent me from properly casting the series... Maybe the series is cursed, maybe my casting prowess is gone, but dunno what's wrong.
I apologize to the viewers that were watching the stream of the cast when it abruptly went offline. My internet router shut off for some reason and I tried to turn it back on, and still trying to turn it back on. I'm typing this on my phone, so again, I apologize to those that were watching when it was abruptly cut.
I dunno what to do about the cast now, whether I should still try and cast the remaining game 4 and begin from there or just restart the series cast, or even cast at all, since it's not going too hot for me right now.
Anyways, again, I apologize to the viewers for the multiple technical difficulties.
