Please re-read the rules, there have been some minor changes!
It hasn't been an issue in the past but I want to be abundantly clear. If you have been C-/C/B/A++ at any point, do NOT post your max rank as D+ xxxx pts. This applies to any account. If you've been 5000 pts on one account, but only 2700 on another your max rank must be posted as 5000.
Failure to read and follow this properly will result in a permanant ban from ALL future D Ranks events.
Who can play: This league is only for D-/D/D+ rank players who are willing to participate consistently. This means MAX RANK. On ANY account. You cannot signup with a D account if you have been yellow or higher on another.
You may ask to play even if you don't fit the criteria and we will review the case.
**The exception are players with previous DRTL/DRIT entries. Most of these players are exempt for having to inform me of their situation as I already am aware.**
How to sign up: You can indicate your interest by posting your:
TL Name: XXXXX ICCup Akas: Main ID, other known ID 1, other known ID 2, etc. Highest Max Rank achieved on ANY account Race/Matchups: (Please just use letters, ie. TvZ/PvT instead of the tlpd icons. It's much easier to read) DRTL Team you're on/Previous DRITs:
New Players to DRIT: Please include your ICCup account name that has at least 20 games played, minimum 10 replays at least 10 minutes long PM'd either to Nagisama or Sync[gm]. Your TL account must also be older than the start of this thread with minimal exceptions. The decisions by the admins for your entry are final.
While entry is determined on a first come first served basis, you can still sign up on the waitlist as there are often no shows in the Group Stages.
In the case of lag/host issues, you may use other forms (ie. Hamachi/GameRanger) to play the games.
Race pickers are allowed, but they must choose one matchup for each race (ie. TvZ, PvT, ZvT) before the start of the tournament. Random is NOT allowed. You canNOT change your matchups during the tournament.
If a player disconnects during the first 3 minutes of a game he will be granted a re-match. Any problems arising will be revised case-by-case.
Observers are allowed, given both players agree. Also hosts for people having problems creating games.
If you don't want your game to be casted you must say so in advance. Otherwise you agree to have your game/s casted and your replays being made public. (Apart from the replays you send in to register, those are used for admitting you in the tournament only)
Standard other ICCup rules (i.e. Anti-hack must be on, latency changer must be on, maps must come from latest version)
Ro32 Group Stages may be played earlier if the rest of your group agrees. Games must still be played by replay deadline (Sunday, Jul 14 3:59am GMT (GMT+00:00)).
Default time to play Group Stages is Saturday, Jul 13 6:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00)
Winner of any games sends replay(s) in .zip (or .7z/whatever works with WinRAR) format to
drits5@yahoo.com
***Make sure you enter the email address correctly.***
Results must also be reported in the thread with spoiler tags.
*Ro32 replays are due by Sunday, Jul 14 3:59am GMT (GMT+00:00) at the latest.
Ro16 replays are due by Monday, Jul 22 3:59am GMT (GMT+00:00) at the latest.
Ro8 replays are due by Monday, Jul 29 3:59am GMT (GMT+00:00) at the latest.
Ro4 replays are due by Tuesday, Aug 06 3:59am GMT (GMT+00:00) at the latest.
3rd/4th replays are due by Tuesday, Aug 13 3:59am GMT (GMT+00:00) at the latest.
This means for the Ro16, you have between whenever brackets are out (no later than Tuesday July 16th) and Monday, Jul 22 3:59am GMT (GMT+00:00) to email in replays and report results in the thread. Failure to do this will result in pissed off admins and random decisions to who advances.
Another example, for the Ro8, you have between Monday July 22 and Monday, Jul 29 3:59am GMT (GMT+00:00) to email in replays and report results in the thread.
(Ideally you can upload VODs to youtube, or make it so that they don't disappear on twitch, because most of the non-youtube VODs for DRIT5 are gone =()

I'm not sure why you need to randomize people again for ro16. I found out that in DRIT 5, there was a sacrilege committed in the bracket stage where group winners playing group winners in the ro16, runner ups playing runner ups, and the most bizarre case, two people from the same group playing each other in the ro16. I don't know how the admins think about that, but imo those scenarios should be avoided at all cost.
I would like to advocate the system that was used in S1, S2, and S4.
A Winner plays B runner -up C Winner plays D Runner -up .... B winner plays A runner-up D winnner plays C runner-up .... etc.
I think this system ensures people get to play as many different opponent as possible since you can only meet the guy from your group again if you both reach the final or 3rd place match.
how about anoter drawing after group stage? 1 bag with group winners and 1 bag with runner ups....still needs something to avoid having people from one group meet again though

This was used in previous DRITs, like DRIT1/2, maybe 3. Problem was, it became so predictable, sometimes players would just intentionally lose during group stages to place second instead of just playing their best to get an easier seed into the Ro16. This eliminates that predictability at the cost of maybe some repetitiveness.

If they intentionally lose to place 2nd, then they would play a group winner. Wouldn't that be harder? Or are you saying for example, dude A is in group A, and a tournament favorite is in group C, so dude A purposely finishes runner-up to avoid potentially meeting tournament favorite in ro8?
I'm ok with randomizing in the ro16 as long as there are rules such as a group winner must play a group runner-up and two people from the same group cannot meet each other in the ro 16. (even ro8 is too early, it should be semi at least, but that's your call I guess) Like I couldn't care less if A winner was match-up against B runner-up or C runner-up or D, E,F runner-up. As long as it's not A runner-up or a winner, it's fine

I'll think about something like this semi-random seeding bracket with RedAxis.
I just think winning a group should come with a benefit. And two people from the same group not meeting each other so early in bracket stage is just so that people can play as many different opponent possible which I think fits nicely with the spirit of the tournament That is all.

As a food for thought, what are people's thoughts on having one group (out of the 8) being predetermined outside of the random seedings?
1. It won't be me/RedAxis in a super easy group to improve our chances. 2. It won't be some super insane group of death either to eliminate stronger players, at least, not in the terms you might think. 3. It is meant to be an even playing field for these 4 specific players. 4. I don't really want to give out much more info than already is. 5. The remaining 7 groups will be randomized via group selection similar to how TLS2 was done.
Also, if there are no 4 suitable players, then it won't be done. ie. if only 2-3 of these specific players signed up, and there is no 3rd/4th suitable player to fill this group, it won't be done. There would be no predetermined group.

Hm, can't seem to piece it together just by looking at the list. Interesting.
I think that as long as it is not detrimental to the other players in the league or to the players in the group, there shouldn't be much of a difference.
I am unable to play on the same day as the groups. As such, I will ask the group I get placed in if they are able to play, say, 24 hours earlier. If they are not, then I'll have to pull out and someone will have to replace me. I apologize in advance for any inconvenience caused. With that in mind, if you see this and there are 32 signups, don't be afraid to sign up as people on the day will not be able to show up so you could still get a game.

For sure. In the past drits there were always some w.o.'s due to not show up. We are all amateurs and real life can happen every day. So dont be afraid to be number 34 or 35 on the list.
I feel like my play have become even more inconsistent than it used to be because of lack of practice, so I'm signing up to motivate me to play more.

That's fine. I'm thinking of making groups be available for PP/played earlier. Depending on signups, the groups would be released 1-2 weeks ahead of the default game time. Players can play anytime between when groups come out and the replay deadline. That way, it doesn't delay group stages either.
Also, 1 or 2 maps may change. There may be some minor changes to some rules at least until everything is set in stone when groups are released. Sorry about that.

I don't pay attention to drtl, so I don't know what the deal is here, but to be fair, I was the captain of team 8 way back in season 1 and I shamelessly disappeared.
Btw, anyone want to update me on what happened with Sinedd and Eywa and why one of them is banned and the other is called to be banned? (I also recall Eywa is banned from Iccup as well, so he must have done something very wrong.)
Eywa promissed a 40k BW lan series. And sinedd had a huge fuck up in DRTL trying to claim walkovers left and right like a wizard(JOE KIM) and then his team suddenly stopped showing, and he stopped posting on DR topics.

Lol you were the captain. Not responsible?
If anything, you're the hater `0- -0` `0- -0` `0- -0`
I was the captain but there was also a co captain.. Besides the players could just play without me, it was their decision.. So I dont understand all the hate towards me here.. Its not like we were playing for money or something like this either.. So just chill the fuck out please. Im the hater.. xDDD yeah.. right. Lolz
Like hell Sinedd should play man. Hey I was just a captain, I dont have responsibility...whats the point of a captain if you dont have responsibility for your underlings? Your really telling me you had no influence on all your underlings skipping out on the league? You had no idea Maciej [or whatever] was lieing about his rank? Hell you could of posted and explained yourself weeks ago, but you disappear and show up only the second another league shows up. Total bullshit man.

Well to be fair we were warned Maciej was like C rank a while before NW skipped out of the league. You could look him up and look by the players he beat/lost to that he wasnt anywhere even remotely close to D+ rank and was infact significantly higher

I mean, yes, we were warned, but it was Sinedd's responsibility to note that one of his players were C, instead of just letting him play and feigning ignorance. It's not the admin's job or other players' job to look up the possibility of a player being above C, it's the captain of a team's job to actually play by the rules, and unfortunately, he didn't, whether it was an accident or not.

I like to think of all DR events as being united by one core of principles, and as such I feel like dishonesty in one should affect you for the others. Kinda like stat abusers in TSL got banned from future events.
Jesus Christ.. all the fucking hate towards me here.. (especially that Jealous dude.. but he was hating NW Power since day 1 so its not like Im surprised or anything ) Like I killed your guys dog or something.. it was just a D rank tournament T_T there were no money involved.. It was FOR FUN, and I didnt had FUN so I quitted.. Im sorry, I did kinda fuck up ok I understand that you could be mad, but as I said - it wasnt like I forbidden my players to play.. I just said that I dont feel like being a cpt anymore.. for fuck sake.. arent you guys overreacting a bit ? Besides I didnt really know how good Maciej is anyways, and there were more players who were C not only him..
I wont fucking beg to play in this league, if Im gonna meet such a high level of hate then just fuck it. You guys play your own leagues if you want.. but you have to know that some of you act like a bunch of, god knows why butthurt, haters.. -.- wow
Lol.... When you're captain you take responsibility for everyone on your team. If someone on your team is ineligible and you turn a blind eye despite other people telling you about his C, then you can't be surprised that people don't want you back in D events. Also you told no one you were quitting or that NW needed a new captain or who to contact or what. Since you're the only point of contact to NW, you have a responsibility to tell the organizers what's goin on with your team.

If you had fucked up as you did and come clean and said "I'm sorry, I wasn't aware that Maciej is C, he won't be playing any more," then I'd have nothing against you.
Have you forgotten your behavior? After the whole situation blew up, you stopped responding to everyone as far as I know. You kept posting on TL even while the rest of the league was trying to decide what to do about NW, and decided it wasn't your responsibility to chime in. You didn't just stop being a captain, you abandoned the entire issue and the league, and now you want everyone to act like nothing happened. Here is what happened:
Because after that point you didn't say a single thing. Why should you be rewarded with continued participation in DR leagues if you've fucked one up so royally? Of course it's still Nagisama's decision, but the fact that it was a free league does NOT excuse your behavior in the eyes of others. It's still a league with dozens of players besides yourself, and you decided to make extra hassle for others, all of which are of course not going to financially benefit from any of it.

Every other player was accounted for - sent in rep packs or retired. I sent in a rep pack to L_Master, for example. Arb had sent one in not too long before that iirc. The fucked up thing is that you STILL have this immature shitty l o l attitude about it. No remorse at all. Pointing fingers at others and saying it's unfair when you're the one who is to blame for the drama and problem in the first place. Pathetic.
only your players got banned because only your players were like "yeah im D+" and tried to hide the fact that they were C. everyone else was like "yeah i C/C- X years ago" or "i was D+ but i hit C- in the middle of the season" or whatever
I have no intention of derailing the thread but I just think that as a D+/C-/maybe C? xD myself I just think that these tournaments will be very hard to host and is bound to create some arguments. Say if you accept C- players, then the C will be asking why they can't play etc etc...
Also, the boundary of ranks in iccup just vary too much. Timezone (before the Koreans left of course), win-rate, match-ups, dodging...
Yeah, but those arguments were put to rest awhile ago. The argument we have now is that he was ignorant about the situation, despite being the captain of the team. He simply let a C-ranked player play; the argument isn't about whether it was right that he played, it was about the captain not caring enough to realize he was actually C.
I don't see anything wrong with letting Sinedd play in DRIT.
1. He's on the waitlist, he might not even be able to play if everyone shows up. 2. His abilities to manage his team is irrelevant in an individual tournament. 3. Whatever he did/did not do, I'll just leave it to whoever is hosting the next team league to deal with.
That said, if he said he withdraws, that's fine with me, doesn't really affect anything. I'd just go to next on the waitlist.
Not to turn this into a hatefest, but I do think Sinedd should be barred from captaining in future events, since most of the problems he caused were related to his avoiding the necessary duties of captaining.

As a heads up, I will be casting the DRTL4 Finals after TLS tomorrow approximately Monday, Jun 24 12:00am GMT (GMT+00:00). The important thing specifically related to DRIT is that I will be doing the group sorting for the Ro32.
I have a question regarding this predetermined group - what's the point of this? I don't really get why...clarification would be nice. Thanks for casting & organizing this.

Groups A C and F all looking pretty tough, I think my group has the most gosus in it though ;D
Should be easy for myself and Arca to take group A though ^_^
Squishy, Nagisama, and Arca, I've sent you all PMs about our group, I think I have you all on Skype too so we should be able to get those games played.
Group A - Nagisama & Arca(Crema) Group B - prophecy_ & L1ghtning Group C - uround & aeghrur Group D - mG.arb & Rlentless Group E - dazed_spy & Stardom(OD) Group F - [BB]KaiGreene & sGs.DNH Group G - Sentenal & Miss.Click.. Group H - sGs.Lmaster & sB.icedraco
Predictions: Group A: Nagisama/Arca(Crema) Group B: prophecy_/??? Group of Death C: Ghrur/TheMarine Group of almost as much Death D: arb/Rlentless Group E: ImAthTheBeach/??? Group F: Kaigreene/DarkNetHunter Group G: ??? Group H: Lmaster/IceDraco
I think DRIT is going to be a lot of Terrans and Protoss, with really only one really strong Zerg and strong racepicker making it out of groups. I guess Ghrur will benefit from less people focusing on practicing their vZ. I think Group C and D are probably the strongest groups, overall.

Not in any particular order, just who I think will make it through. Nagisama and DarkNetHunter could easily make it out too, hard to pick in those groups. A couple of players I don't know so those could also move up.

Its wierd... Like all the good players in the DRTL were Zergs, and all the ok players were spread evenly between T and P. Must be that Zerg is an easier race to play.

I dunno how you can say that all the "okay" players are spread evenly between Terran and Protoss... Judging by the previous DRIT, the strongest players are Protoss right now. There was only one Zerg that made it to the semis, and he ended up retiring to play for C-rank leagues.
Protoss is by far the most dominating race in D-ranks, regardless of whether it's an "easy" race to play, the players are simply better than the players of other races at this stage of the game.

To bef air there was only one Terran that made it there too. Most of them lost in the group stages. Protoss easily the strongest race in DRanks right now imo. Easiest race overall :x

Well, the point I was trying to prove was that Protoss players were dominating the D-ranks...
And BaBo, that poll IS slightly biased, considering the majority players are Protoss and players will always simply assume their race is the best, even the ones that consider the others to be OP.

I wouldn't say 'by far', although there certainly is a leaning towards Protoss. If you look at all the DRITs, you can see its not just a single race dominating. DRIT1 was a TvT Finals, DRIT2 was PvP Finals, DRIT3 ZvT (with Zerg winning), 4 was ZvP (with Zerg winning), and then DRIT5 was PvP again. 2 Protoss Golds, 2 Zerg Golds, and 1 Terran.

Terran has the least, most skill required and weakest race? Coincidence? i think not.
Maybe not in the past, but it's safe to say Protoss are dominating right now, as we speak, from maybe DRATL down to DRTL 4, and soon-to-be DRIT 6. In DRIT 5, there were more Protoss advancing out of their groups than Zergs and Terrans combined, and if one were to list out some of the strongest players in D-ranks, the majority would be Protoss. Even looking at the predictions people posted, most have more Protoss advancing than any other race, and the only reason there are Terrans advancing is because some groups have 2-3 Terrans in just one group.
In no way am I trying to say Protoss is imbalanced, or blah blah blah, just saying that in my opinion, Protoss simply has the better players at this point in time.
Even in the All-Star match, Protoss went 2-2, Terran went 1-2, Zerg went 2-1 (not counting the ZvZ). And with Terran, their score isn't even complete, since NewJetCity didn't play. Top 10 for DRTL4 had a close split between Protoss and Zerg in the top 10, although I suppose you could use that as evidence of Terran being weaker since they only had 1 up there. Anyway, like I said, there is a lean towards Protoss being the most dominate, but I don't think its as great as some people make it out to be.
Terran has always had strong contenders even at this level, though they seem to come and go. Many Terrans just quit playing (Obelisco, Dewski, CrazyHorse, SniperTerran) and others aren't appearing for this DRIT (KingGeedorah, NewJetCity, LCC). Despite that, this tournament still has plenty of Terrans that should make it out of groups.

I honestly think that there were more "good" Protoss players than "good" Terran or Zerg players in the most recent DRTL. If I were to choose players who are roughly of the same caliber, this would be my attempt at an objective un-ordered list of "good" players (good as in better than the rest of the playing field, so probably yellow ranked):
- 13 Sentenal Prophecy (could probably hold C- at least even though he denies it) BaBo KaiGreene TheMarine (got a lot better last season tbh) L_Master PsyonicReaver Arca(Crema) (stubborn with the goon-first openings in PvP, needs help with PvZ [but who doesn't] but otherwise solid) Mellial (hit 3700 with positive win rate iirc last season, his first true C-) icedraco (really solid player imo) Gorg fabiano (got a LOT better in the past few months, props! Even hit C-) Animus (underrated and doesn't get many results but played solid)
- 7 RedAxis (really solid mechanics) arb Nagisama (needs to work on his TvP like most other T though, could learn from RedAxis) NewJetCity Miss.Click.. (I don't get how she's so good but she is, like wow) King Geedorah DNH
- 7 Beach (despite obvious deficiencies in his play, very good macro and high apm allows for greater multitask) rauk (C player, nuff said) CityShuffle CoughingHydra (bad results but has had solid play in the past) Birdie (no offense but wasn't sure if to include him, late game seems really lacking) aeghrur shuruken (bad zvp and bad attitude about losses don't detract from his overall skill)
IMO Toss is/was far ahead. More people left T/Z than P since DRTL start due to high rank/inactivity as well.
EDIT: I do think that it is easier to be dangerous as P at lower levels, especially in PvT, even moreso than TvZ or ZvP. As a result, P player seem stronger and put up better results. There was some post, I think by NinaZerg, that said roughly "all T/Z have offrace P close to their max level" and I agree with it to an extent; it certainly feels easier to get to C- legitimately as a P than any other race, although you could imaginably just 2 fac/5 pool there as well.
On June 28 2013 03:23 t0ssboy wrote: A question for the tournament BTW.How will the ro16 opponents be chosen?1a vs 2B or what?
Uh, Ro16 will be once again selected using that random generator program that I got*. It will be semi-randomized in that winners of the Ro32 groups will be playing a random 2nd place finisher of the Ro32 groups. However, it will not be a person from the same Ro32 group. Hope that clears it up.
On June 27 2013 16:26 art_of_turtle wrote: Its wierd...
I can play every race at a d+/marginal c- level, and I find protoss the most difficult, just relative to my skill set and knowledge of the metagame.

What were the predetermined groups and why? I am curious!
Yeah, the predetermined groups was gonna consist of players who has had a track record of going 0-2 in groups and/or having bad records in teamleagues, so that at least two players would have a possibility and a chance in the Ro16, rather than not having a chance at all in the group stages. I'm not gonna name any players out of respect, but I believe the reason Nagi didn't do it was because he felt the players had improved more than he thought they had, or maybe he didn't want to single out certain players and make them feel like they need special treatment.
But I can tell you that you weren't part of the predetermined group. ;D

Statistically I'm 0-2 but Jade and Bloody Ridge are not that great for me personally. Jade because very hard to sim city at the third and Bloody Ridge well that was the first time I played the map ever =_=;

Beach can beat Echo, no doubt.
The win RATE is debatable though.
Echo is really easy to beat if you know how to play vs him.

Not to go into a balance discussion...but come on. I think most people will give you that terran is the most demanding mechanically, and in many ways the race that can get the most punished from a mistake (terran sieges wrong pretty much gotta stand and deliver, if Protoss starts a-moving bad, you can just click away and lose like a control group or less).
HOWEVER, Terran is also the strongest race when played well, and in my view is reflected in results. Of the Bonjwas 4 of the 5 played Terran. In other words, with the exception of he who shall not be named, every major BW era was dominated by a Terran player. Moreover, Terran and Zergs throughout BW have just about split starleagues, with a slight edge to Terran, and Protoss well behind.
I don't really know how you would reach the conclusion Terran is the weakest race.
So as AtomicArchon can't be reached at all, I'm assuming he's unavailable. There are definitely going to be players from the wait list that are going to play.

I don't know about you guys but I always open all the spoilers in the thread, which reduces incentive to watch any casts as I already know results. Do you think we could perhaps not reveal results publicly and only tell organizers and others in the same group? I think it would help for getting people to watch the casts.
Should we hand in replays piecemeal or after we've concluded all our games in the group?
If you guys can work it out as a group together to bundle the replays and have 1 person send it in with the subject saying which group, it would be much appreciated. Otherwise, piecemeal is fine, as long as all 5 reps eventually come in.
As a reminder, this is the last week for Group Stages. Otherwise it's default game time on Saturday, Jul 13 6:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00)

Wait... So, you want to cast games. You also don't want to know results. But you also intentionally choose to open properly marked/labeled spoilers in this thread that reveal said results. Something here isn't fitting with the rest.

For the groups I'm planning on casting I haven't opened results. I'm talking about, say, groups I won't be casting but others will, because then I'd be somewhat happy to open spoilers and not bother watching the other groups; I highly expect others do the same, except they aren't casting any groups so they open all spoilers.
On replays: better to have redundant replays than missing ones. Everyone should feel free to send them in.
On spoilers: the spoiler tag feature is designed and titled specifically to hide information that can spoil match results. If you don't want to know the results, don't open them. Even unlabeled, the only reason people would be posting spoiler tags in this thread at the moment would be to post results. People who open them anyways... 自業自得

PMs are great and all, but from an organizational standpoint it's far easier to have everything in one central location. And considering how free the scheduling for groups is, I think we need all the information we can get.
And honestly, I don't think reading spoilers is that much of a disincentive for viewers. People who want to watch a d ranks cast are gonna watch a d ranks cast anyways.

Last I heard, Uround hasn't responded to Ghrur's PMs, so he might get subbed out at this rate.
That would pull the plug on Group C being the group of death o.o
Just a question, has any of the groups actually finished all 5 of their games?
From what I've seen/heard, most people played at least the first 2 matches, and put off the rest for later because they want to practice for the winners/losers match specifically.

No word from Gorg yet, if anyone has his Skype please get in touch; everyone else in the group has been in contact, might need a sub for him come Saturday.
Wasn't really stated anywhere, but I think this is an issue some people are worried about...
In the case that a player in a group doesn't show up on Saturday, then ideally, a player on the wait-list that is the same race as the player they are replacing should be priority, not the next person that is waiting on the wait-list, as it is unfair that one expected to play and practiced a specific matchup to begin with.
Just using myself as an example in Group D, arb would be practicing a TvT, but if I were to not show up, and the next player on the wait-list replaces me, it would be a Protoss, which would mean a different matchup altogether for arb, which is unfair.
I just thought that should be brought to attention. Not something big, but possibly a difference maker in the group stages. Of course, if a specific race isn't available for replacing a player, then it should go to whoever is next on the wait-list that shows up on Saturday...

I think this is a good issue to bring up, and I'd offer a possible suggestion.
I'm not sure if all groups have been in touch with each other, but assuming some have, we could at least get a guess which groups are missing which player(race). Then already preliminarily assign wait-listed players to the groups.
This way the waitlist people still have a day or two to prepare for matchups as well and this would be advantageous in assuring that wait-listed people actually show up. At the moment I'd be more worried about neither the actual or the wait-list players showing up as well as this whole thing turning into a long fiasco on Saturday when the rest of us would like to go out and enjoy the evening/day.
So I'd start off saying, Group F - Missing Gorg (Protoss) , so we would like a Protoss replacement
and everyone who's had contact with their groups could do the same to get someone setup from the waitlist.

Ill try to get this going asap. Im free all day today to play out our matches, but gotta get a hold of l1ghtning first.
So in the case of something happening, I'll clear some stuff up before tomorrow...
If a player played his/her initial game, but doesn't show up on Saturday to play the winner's/loser's match and did not contact his/her opponent to reschedule, then the opponent can be obligated to take a walkover. It would be unfair if a replacement came into play for someone who had already played a game. If a sub replaces someone who won, it would be unfair in that they're only required just one win to get out of the group stages, and if a sub replaces someone who lost, it would be unfair in that they have zero room for error and one loss would knock them out of the group stage.
I play my first game against mG.arb and lose. RulzBoooM and Rlentless play and Rlentless loses. I don't show up on Saturday to play my game against Rlentless and I never contact him to let him know I won't be available on Saturday or that I'll be available to play any other day. Rlentless is allowed to take a walkover into the final's match to face whoever loses to mG.arb and RulzBoooM.
And mentioned above, if a player wasn't available for contact at all and hadn't played a single game, then a sub that is the same race would replace said player. If there aren't any subs or not enough subs, then unfortunately, whoever shows up will simply be the replacement regardless of the race.

I didn't read this in time, and was busy anyways, but we are scheduled to play the first game 1h30mins before the default time today, in around 2h30mins, so you might be able to play approximately 1 hour before schedule, if that would help... If not, I'm willing to postpone winners/losers by up to 6 hours, calculated from the default time. Later than that would be a stretch.

I'll be doing Group A, and he's probably going to do Group G.
Also, we might need someone to take the groups that Lmaster was originally going to cast as he's having technical difficulties... Although that's on Lmaster to decide, of course.
Will be casting Group G in ~1hr to 1.5hr time depending on when I finish dinner, aka 00:00 GMT (+00:00). Will also be doing Ro16 selections after this.

I know for a fact that TheMarine did NOT want to play prophecy_ again ^^
The way I see it, that bracket ensures that there will be 1 terran in the semis. It will be interesting to see who comes out on top. Both TvT's are team-kills as well.
Oh, I forgot to mention, DarkNetHunter and TheMarine will both be unavailable to play until Monday, so art_of_turtle and KaiGreene, if you guys don't mind waiting until Monday, that'd be great. This is just in case neither player has contacted their opponents about postponing until Monday. Hope you guys don't mind!

I don't see the problem with signing up for the league if you are able to play at the official time.
DRTL and DRIT probably have close to a 50% rate of rescheduling. There is a problem if your forced to take walk overs half the time.
It's not a problem of reschedule. Beach asked ghrur if he could play earlier or at scheduled time. Ghrur said scheduled time. Beach was ~40 minutes late, standard wait time for walkovers is 15 minutes.
yeah I asked so I can make sure if I play at the scheduled time.
I know I was late so it's my fault, but I got caught up on something unexpected prior to logging on.
I believe I have a good track record as far as showing up on match times go. This was the first offense in which I was late to any scheduled (or a rescheduled) match. I have only taken one walkover in DRTL, and this was because my opponent was impossible to contact (msj member). In addition, I've also offered all my opponents a chance to reschedule. Like I said, please reconsider?

Yeah but it's dumb to imply that if you can't reschedule, you shouldn't sign up for the league. I admit oftentimes real life stuff happens that you can't control, but the people who request to reschedule are more at fault than the people who are unable to meet the demand. Signing up means you are committing to play at the time listed, so I don't see why the person who doesn't show up at said time without notice is more innocent (not accusing Beach, because like I said, real life stuff is totally understandable) than the person who does. Complaining Ghrur won't reschedule is one thing, that's his choice/life schedule/whatever, but saying he shouldn't have signed up isn't fair when he showed up at the agreed time.

The amount of time prior or after a games set time is numbered in like, 150+ hours, the amount of time in which the game is pre-set to, specifically, is one hour on one day. Needless to say it should be very easy to accommodate someone in all the time allotted [which is like a week and a half, realistically].

Neither did ImAtTheBeach.
They had an agreed upon time which ImAtTheBeach failed to show up at the correct time.
Regardless, the decision on whether or not ghrur wants to reschedule is with ghrur.
If ghrur is willing to reschedule a game with ImAtTheBeach, it'll have to be played by Monday, July 22nd 16:59 GMT (+00:00), as that is when all the other Ro16 games should be done with, and Ro8 games can begin.

That wasn't my point. Its about you asking why sign up for a league when you can't find time for a bo3. I found asking that hypocritical when before in drtl you were justifying your decision to take a walkover because you had no other time even for a single game after, besides for the scheduled time next week.

I mostly justified it as punishment for his rude behaviour. I could and would of found time had he an excuse, or asked for it, or anyone on his behalf. But I wasnt going to make time in a busy schedule for someone like that.

aeghrur man why don't you just message him on Skype if you are free at any time until that cut-off point (22nd?)? If it can't be at a set time, just let him know when you're free to warm up and play, and if he's online I'm sure he'll be down... I live with the kid and I can vouch that he had no way of being online on time due to a family situation, it's not just him being lazy or disrespectful.
He has Skype on his phone and he is pretty much free any time in the next few days, so why not just leave it as a possibility as opposed to straight denying him? I feel like the series has the potential to be one of the best in DRIT (I see you both as title contenders), it'd be a shame for you guys to not play and for you to advance on a technicality.

I was looking forward to a rematch in the quarterfinals possibly, but I am not even allowed to play my game lol. Uber lameness to the maximum. -_-
See y'all in DRTL Season 5.
I guess that coming on time in an online game is more important than real life family matters. Beats me....
Well, the fact that you choose family matters over an online game means you made the better choice in the long run.
Of course but I really wanted to give it a shot at a D ranks individual tournament, and getting "eliminated" without a fair game was not what I expected.
I believe I'm extremely flexible when it comes to letting people reschedule their games with me & as mentioned, have showed up on time for every match before yesterday.
Marine I'll be expecting you tomorrow 17:00 CEST in OP teamliquid! If you dont show up (like previous time) I WILL take the walkover. You have been warned. You seem to have a habit of showing up late, maybe this will discourage you
You guys talk as though I didn't make out the time to play the match. I did. I allotted an hour to the match, and ran to my school to make it on time so I could play. Then the time was squandered waiting in the DRIT channel instead of allowing me to study for my upcoming midterm Monday or prepare for an interview I have Monday. To say I didn't make time for this is just completely biased BS which doesn't take my perspective into view at all, but that was to be expected since Babo took no time at all to attack me for my decision. In fact, he continues to do so while Beach plays the victim of the situation when it was his decision to not come on time. Decisions have consequences, and if I'm hated for this because Babo presumes it's unfair for me to adhere to the rules of DRIT, fine. I'll accept that. I'll accept that I'm being vilified by Beach and Babo because I chose to respect a deadline, show up on time, wait for up to 30 minutes (2x the allotted late time), and then proceeded to follow DRIT rules. :/ That's all I have to say about that matter.
Not saying what you did was against the rules, I'm saying that your hitherto "I don't have any free time" excuse for refusing a reschedule is not as plausible as "I don't feel like playing because I showed up on time and he didn't" or "I waited 30 minutes but was unwilling to wait 40" or "I feel like taking a free win because I can,": etc.
Already admitted that I messed up one page ago. Rules are rules and I'm not arguing against that.
I understand that you are busy with your life, but to say that "when it was not his decision to not come on time" is a little ridiculous on your part. I'm sorry, but you're not the only one with a "real life". I had to come back home after dealing with some intense family bullshit that kind of fucked up the entire process of me showing up by 2 PM.
But whatever, good luck in the rest of the tournament.
To the administrators of the league: Please indicate that a walkover was claimed, and not a 0-2 loss defeat.
The last TLS had someone drop from the group stage because he couldn't show or had something come up. The tournament went on without him. Same is going to happen here. If you have a set time and do not show you lose. That's how it works for nearly all tournaments. If you were going to be going out for whatever reason it's possible you could have given a warning saying you may not be able to make it onto or may need a reschedule. I know sometimes shit happens and it's impossible to make it, but the reality is that if you can't make the set date and time you lose.
If I can input my own opinion... The fact that ghrur took a walkover is extremely unfortunate, because as a spectator, I really wanted to watch the two play. But, there's always two sides to this. One side, a player was willing to wait past the deadline, out of the own goodness of his heart, and waited long enough that it interfered with his own personal matters. The other side, it was unexpected and it was a personal matter, which should be excused in that family matter should come over a computer game.
Unfortunately, rules are rules, and as ImAtTheBeach didn't show up on time, ghrur is allowed to take the walkover, and it's his decision to reschedule, although it looks like he's busy on Monday, which means that that would be past the deadline in which Ro16 should all be played.
And also, don't forget to turn in reps at drits5@yahoo.com
I hope Arca and icedraco have played their games...
tonight I completely understand and already accepted the consequences. But in my opinion, as a D ranks league, I feel that playing games is highly encouraged, especially when there's nothing on the line. Just the fact that you can practice and play in a tournament setting is not something that us low rankers can do very often. I'm just bummed out that I couldn't actually play my game, that's all.
RedAxis: I mean when the results are actually input, for future reference. Thank you

His "excuse" is not "plausible"? He already outlined specifically every obligation interfering with his schedule (every one of which he conquered temporarily for Beach's sake), so if all you have to say is that the things he needs to do are not "plausible" I guess we just have issues with trust or reality. All your other quotes are hypothetical motivations, but no evidence or fact connects ghrur to such assumptions at all. Unless you produce an actual argument that ghrur is out to take free wins or whatever, all this talk is pointless trash.
"Unwilling to wait 40" also seems to frame the issue in terms of... ghrur being stingy with 10 minutes. That deflects discussion from the larger issue of: ghrur already sacrificed upwards of an hour for nothing. He can't play Starcraft at his residence, so he had to commute to a different location just to play this. He has no obligation, moral-wise/rule-wise/courtesy-wise or whatever, to cater to the whims of someone who already stood him up for an hour.

I didn't know that last part... I guess that takes it out of my ability to appreciate the situation, since I'd never sign up for a tour (which has PP and other such potential issues, as demonstrated by season upon season of DRTL and DRIT), without consistent internet access :/
You still online? I just came from work man and now I leave for family. They changed my shift and I didn't mind, I completely forgot our match and obliged with the shift change... I'm terribly sorry I wasted your time marine

This is how it's supposed to be done (:
1)I waited 30 minutes(ask DNH for confirmation),no show.I can't waste my time like that.I hadn't played SC for like a week, practiced my ass off today and then...a no show. I agreed with that, since i asked for PP as well. But this
Marine I'll be expecting you tomorrow 17:00 CEST in OP teamliquid! If you dont show up (like previous time) I WILL take the walkover. You have been warned. You seem to have a habit of showing up late, maybe this will discourage you.
. Really kills my desire for pp,yet i'll do it for manners' sake. 2)As i said i haven't been in Sofia for a week, and i do kickboxing.Somehow i seem to be good at the damn thing because i've already won 2x first places, and i am preparing for a 3rd.Taking extra classes, then not showing one week is meh.Tommorow i have to leave at 2 PM EEST(1 PM CEST) To go to kickboxing, and won't be back untill 8 or 9,and i'll go out immediately after and Thats why i said i could play untill 12(the tommorow thing follows untill friday).

That's nice of you. However, I'm not sure: Can you play UNTIL 12 CEST or FROM 12 onward? You better clear this up with kai or else you might miss eachother.

People HAVE played their match, the only ones we're waiting on are Arca/icedraco, art/DNH, Kai/TheMarine and Echo/Lmaster, who are playing as of this post.
For Arca/icedraco, apparently icedraco has gone MIA so if icedraco isn't back by the time the last games are played, which should be Kai/TheMarine, then Arca will be getting the walkover win.

I have to update that me and turtle had to reschedule for tomorrow, because of the big time zone differences and work scheduling for him (not to mention its a TvT series so we need a good slot of time). We've arranged on playing our series at 08:00:00 PDT for him, which is 17:00:00 CEST for myself. Sorry about the delay!
On July 23 2013 11:59 SynC[gm] wrote: I have objection... Why not your series?
Because it's awkward to self cast. You know what you did, and want to explain it, so you spend 85% of the cast talking about yourself in a biased manner.
We're on the Ro16, and it should be Ro8 by the end of tomorrow. As to why the cast is never on the calender... I figure the main people who's going to cast the stuff is responsible for having it on the calender. But it's okay, only some of the results have been released, and some results are still unknown.
I couldn't contact Icedraco , we are teammates and he if he logged in to skype I'd know. I also PMed him but got no answer. I think i have no choice but to take W.O.

I didn't put mine on the calendar because I didn't feel Ro32 groups were important enough on calendar events. If you want I'll try to have it on calendar next time I cast anything. Otherwise, whether or not it's on calendar for other casters is their choice/duty to put it up.
Lmaster/prophecy - need replays by today Kaigreene/TheMarine - need replays by today
Since all the TvT's got taken, I might cast Lmaster/prophecy and/or KaiGreene/TheMarine (if art of turtle is casting Lmaster's games). Either way I need the damn replays emailed in.

Replays are uploaded and in the 2nd post. Me and RedAxis will be casting KaiGreene/TheMarine at Wednesday, Jul 24 1:00am GMT (GMT+00:00) and maybe Sentenal/dazed_spy if there's time.

Well, we're not going to cast Me/Miss.Click.. But it's okay, since our casting won't be about depth, it'll just be entertaining.

As you said, I didn't respond to the 4gate properly. IIRC I saw his probe run towards his third and didn't think he could afford that many zealots. I've never faced 4gates before, rather annoyed I lost like that

After I saw that I blocked my nexus, I just instantly 2-gated, but I actually felt like leaving because I couldn't imagine how I could possibly win. So I just decided to go as all-in as possible and add 2 more gates and hope that zealots are good :p

Understandable to tilt after such an unfortunate 1st game. I felt that something was off in game two since I normally do pretty poorly in late game PvZ. :p Also, the only "real" build I practiced for the series was +1 speedlot timing... and then I forgot the +1 -.-

Incidentally I found at least 6 replays of yourself, hence the somewhat blind 2gate counter in game 1. (you 2gated a lot in the games I watched). Game 2 I didn't do my plan, which was to ling all in (I knew you couldn't wall properly on FS so I suspected the same would be true in bloody ridge). If I had done that I think I would have won. Ah well, we live and learn

Where the hell did you get my replays!? xD I 2-gated quite a bit on ladder, because I saw how themarine beat aeghrur with a 2-gate and it looked so easy and strong. However, after doing it about 10 times on ladder, I saw that it can be quite weak actually. I also figured that a short look on my iccup profile will let you know how many short PvZs I had recently and you'll probably prepare against a 2-gate even without having replays of mine. That's why I decided to drop the 2 gate and just do +1 speedlot twice in a row... which didn't work out because I manner pyloned myself in game one and failed the build in game 2... By the way, another reason why I decided to try +1 speedlot is because in your game against arca I got the feeling that you're the kind of zerg to cut army, drone up heavily and try to overwhelm the toss in the late game.

I actually just PMed people in your matchlist for replays haha. I'm usually fine vs speedlot, but I played differently vs arca because he doesn't usually do speedlot attacks. To be honest I wasn't too sure what to expect for your mid/late game because most of the reps I had of you didn't have any mid or late game, just once you made heaps of goons. Hence the mass sunkens in game 2.

What a commitment PM'ing random people ^^ I tried the mass goon all-in 3-4 times, because themarine was telling me how insanely strong it is after he saw draw beating technics with it. Well, either the all-in is terrible or I just can't follow a simple build order, because I got utterly crushed every single time I tried it...

Happily TheMarine tried it vs me also. First game he beat me soundly, second game I destroyed it. Just make sunkens and it loses basically. One of the big things that holds me back is lack of that kind of knowledge though, like that 4gate is something new to me, standard stuff is more easy to counter but anything that's not standard is where my lack of game experience kills me.

Good thing I dropped using goons then :D And yeah, I also feel really uncomfortable against non-standard stuff. By the way, the 4 gate was neither a planned build, nor anything I have ever done before. It was just a desperate attempt to salvage a total disaster...

Make sure the timings are right, if you are off it can fail very easily. An extra 20-30 seconds can mean an extra half control group or more of hydras/lings out.
Thanks for casts everyone, was fun to watch. I will try to show better games in the future, and hope my fans will continue to support me. Without them I would never have got this far.

Now, as a Terran in me or DNH is destined to make the semis, which Terran do the Protoss, TheMarine or RulzBoooM, wanna play against? DNH, the best TvP in D-ranks, or me, lol?
Also, sorry to Nagi for not joining in on the cast again. Can't stop saying sorry since normally, I'm pretty well-committed to showing up on time and whatnot, but just that my parents were rear-ended at around 6:30 CST and asked me if I could pick them up to take them to the dealer. Sorry again, Nagi. :[
-The Ro8 has 4 mirror matchups, first time ever. -The Ro4 has had 2 , 1, 1 since DRIT3, Protoss has only won once since then (DRIT5). -5 players haven't made it into the Ro8 before. (DNH, RedAxis, TheMarine, RulZBoooM, Dazed_spy) -3 players returning to the Ro8 [ghrur (drit2), Lmaster (drit4), Arca (drit2, drit5)] -Terran hasn't won a DRIT since DRIT1(essbee), and hasn't made a final since DRIT3 (uround) -Last time there were 7 zergs in the tournament (There are 7 zergs in drit6), A zerg won the tournament. -The Ro4 will have no one who made it to the Ro4 in drit5. -Protoss has a 67% winrate when they have 4 or more players in the Ro8, and a 50% winrate when they have 2 or more players in the Ro4. -DRIT6 has the least protosses ever (12) and the most terrans ever (12)

Dont worry all the Games that werent W.O.'s got casted so its all good.
Now that we've reached the Round of 8, I'd like to announce some prizes for the winner! As most of you know, tonight will be giving 6 months of TL+ to the winner and 1 month of TL+ to the runner up.
On top of that, Psyonic Reaver will be donating some prize money for the top four as well and breaks down into the following. $20/$10/$5/$1.
On July 27 2013 02:15 Psyonic_Reaver wrote: Good luck to the remaining players. =)
Everyone should be thanking PsyonicReaver for his contribution to this season's DRIT, and last season's. Other than a thank you, he doesn't get anything else for donating his own money to watch one of us win.
Arca, would you be able to play on Sunday or Monday? Tomorrow is my brother's last day here before he pretty much heads out for good (starting his Air Force pilot training) so we'd like to go out and do some family stuff for most of the day.

only thing that matters is the win, the more 'noob' the build the better.
GGs man. That series wad pretty tense. Sorry I had to eliminate you, but I feel that if any Protoss here is going to beat ghrur, it's me. If you were wondering about the two gates I had two reasons:
G4 - I thought there was a chance you might two gate, and I have lost almost all of my PvPs playing against it, so I wanted to see what you would do against it if you didn't choose it yourself.
G5 - I just didn't want any chance of dying to proxy, and had heard that in the past haven't been afraid to use it.
Sorry about forgotten range in G2...probably woulda been even more epic 5 game series without that mistake.

ggs. 2gating is an ok build, just surprised me, especially in last game after losing using it in g4. Also I don't like it and what do you mean by heard that in the past haven't been afraid to use it? I only remember proxying against Babo as a response to 12nex
Aeghrur, we will have company over most of the weekend, so I will need to PP until either Sunday night or anytime next week that is convenient for yourself.
For the third/fourth place or the final match, can whoever has to play me be prepared to play early please? I'm done with classes this Friday, and am going on vacation with my parents starting Saturday. So, Saturday, I'm taking a flight early in the afternoon, and I'd rather not miss it. Thus, if we could play on Friday or early Saturday morning (like 11am Eastern latest), that would be ideal. Otherwise, I probably won't have time for the match until like, 1 or 2 weeks later when I get back to CMU campus. :/
G4 as I said to you I don't understand. You were 4 base to my 4 base, I mined out, and you had 10k more resources. Thought I was going to be able to chill with a massive lead, but in one sense I was way behind.
G2...what tipped you off to goon build? You made a significant number of lings and 3 sunkens out in front, which you wouldnt do vs anything else. To my knowledge your overlord didnt see lack of SG or gates going up, and I only came out 3 zeal 1 goon, which also doesn't suggest "O SHIT GOONS". Did you know I was preparing that build, or just take a bit of a defensive gamble?

GG indeed! Thanks for the great series. Makes me love BW all the more. ^_^
Hmmm, my main thought going into G4 was that I needed to not die. I saw that you consistently went for gate heavy play with a late 3rd, so I knew I could outmacro and out-tech once hive-tech hit. I had more resources because I hardcore droned behind the hydra bust fake and took 2 islands along with 6. I was indeed on 7 bases at the end, but because I'm bad, I never saturated them with drones.
G2, I remember hearing how you beat Bakuryu with a goon-timing, so as soon as I saw the goon taking out my overlord, I was suspicious. Especially because you never build goons when you go for any sort of +1 timing. There would be no reason for you to build a goon unless you were going to go with that goon build from the reps I saw of you. That's why I just threw down the sunkens.

Grats to Rulzboom, makin it to the finals. Very calm and steady player and that alone i think is the reason he got so far. Every of his decisions is well thought and he dont leave a room for panic or stupid mystakes. Good luck on the finals! Royal roader FTW!

Something I ask between the two finalists. After the games are played, please do not post about your games in the thread, and keep your results a secret. Also, if you two don't mind, please send in reps to drits5@yahoo.com, both of you.

If they're doing 7am EDT, I can do a live-cast, with Lmaster if he's awake by then.
Just the only problem will be if whether or not ghrur or RulzBoooM has any problems if I were to live-cast?

Wow seriously? What a storyline! The player who almost couldn't even play in this tournament to begin with, due to all 32 slots being already filled, gets a chance thanks to AtomicArchon being unavailable. Then just as elimination knocked on the door, having to play Rlelentless for the final game (a player who beat him once already), Rlelentless is unavailable and gives the walkover. This was meant to be. A destiny. Congrats Rulzbooom and my prediction that the winner would come from the top half of the bracket was correct!
I'll be PM'ing you for your PayPal information so that I may forward your winnings. If you decline your winnings, I will pay it forward to the next DRIT.
