Even in the All-Star match, Protoss went 2-2, Terran went 1-2, Zerg went 2-1 (not counting the ZvZ). And with Terran, their score isn't even complete, since NewJetCity didn't play. Top 10 for DRTL4 had a close split between Protoss and Zerg in the top 10, although I suppose you could use that as evidence of Terran being weaker since they only had 1 up there. Anyway, like I said, there is a lean towards Protoss being the most dominate, but I don't think its as great as some people make it out to be.

Terran has always had strong contenders even at this level, though they seem to come and go. Many Terrans just quit playing (Obelisco, Dewski, CrazyHorse, SniperTerran) and others aren't appearing for this DRIT (KingGeedorah, NewJetCity, LCC). Despite that, this tournament still has plenty of Terrans that should make it out of groups.

Anyway, like I said, there is a lean towards Protoss being the most dominate, but I don't think its as great as some people make it out to be. I honestly think that there were more "good" Protoss players than "good" Terran or Zerg players in the most recent DRTL. If I were to choose players who are roughly of the same caliber, this would be my attempt at an objective un-ordered list of "good" players (good as in better than the rest of the playing field, so probably yellow ranked):
- 13 Sentenal Prophecy (could probably hold C- at least even though he denies it) BaBo KaiGreene TheMarine (got a lot better last season tbh) L_Master PsyonicReaver Arca(Crema) (stubborn with the goon-first openings in PvP, needs help with PvZ [but who doesn't] but otherwise solid) Mellial (hit 3700 with positive win rate iirc last season, his first true C-) icedraco (really solid player imo) Gorg fabiano (got a LOT better in the past few months, props! Even hit C-) Animus (underrated and doesn't get many results but played solid)
- 7 RedAxis (really solid mechanics) arb Nagisama (needs to work on his TvP like most other T though, could learn from RedAxis) NewJetCity Miss.Click.. (I don't get how she's so good but she is, like wow) King Geedorah DNH
- 7 Beach (despite obvious deficiencies in his play, very good macro and high apm allows for greater multitask) rauk (C player, nuff said) CityShuffle CoughingHydra (bad results but has had solid play in the past) Birdie (no offense but wasn't sure if to include him, late game seems really lacking) aeghrur shuruken (bad zvp and bad attitude about losses don't detract from his overall skill)
IMO Toss is/was far ahead. More people left T/Z than P since DRTL start due to high rank/inactivity as well.
EDIT: I do think that it is easier to be dangerous as P at lower levels, especially in PvT, even moreso than TvZ or ZvP. As a result, P player seem stronger and put up better results. There was some post, I think by NinaZerg, that said roughly "all T/Z have offrace P close to their max level" and I agree with it to an extent; it certainly feels easier to get to C- legitimately as a P than any other race, although you could imaginably just 2 fac/5 pool there as well.

The old download link will no longer work.

Uh, Ro16 will be once again selected using that random generator program that I got*. It will be semi-randomized in that winners of the Ro32 groups will be playing a random 2nd place finisher of the Ro32 groups. However, it will not be a person from the same Ro32 group. Hope that clears it up.

I said I'd put 6months TL+ to the winner and 1month for the runner up.

Like all the good players in the DRTL were Zergs, and all the ok players were spread evenly between T and P. Must be that Zerg is an easier race to play. I dunno how you can say that all the "okay" players are spread evenly between Terran and Protoss... Judging by the previous DRIT, the strongest players are Protoss right now. There was only one Zerg that made it to the semis, and he ended up retiring to play for C-rank leagues. Protoss is by far the most dominating race in D-ranks, regardless of whether it's an "easy" race to play, the players are simply better than the players of other races at this stage of the game. I wouldn't say 'by far', although there certainly is a leaning towards Protoss. If you look at all the DRITs, you can see its not just a single race dominating. DRIT1 was a TvT Finals, DRIT2 was PvP Finals, DRIT3 ZvT (with Zerg winning), 4 was ZvP (with Zerg winning), and then DRIT5 was PvP again. 2 Protoss Golds, 2 Zerg Golds, and 1 Terran. Terran has the least, most skill required and weakest race? Coincidence? i think not. I can play every race at a d+/marginal c- level, and I find protoss the most difficult, just relative to my skill set and knowledge of the metagame.

Haven't really played BW in 3 months due to finals + month in Europe and all I can say is...
Holy fuck am I looking forward to playing again in two days when I finally get back home!

I'd like to be placed on the wait list if it's still possible.
TL Name: lightson ICCup Akas: omoy Highest Max Rank achieved on ANY account: D+ Race/Matchups: Terran DRTL Team you're on/Previous DRITs: N/A
Thanks!
Should I still send in my reps and such despite signing up to be on the wait list?

Nagisama why did you change your mind to not do the predetermined groups at the last second?
What were the predetermined groups and why? I am curious!

Yeah, the predetermined groups was gonna consist of players who has had a track record of going 0-2 in groups and/or having bad records in teamleagues, so that at least two players would have a possibility and a chance in the Ro16, rather than not having a chance at all in the group stages. I'm not gonna name any players out of respect, but I believe the reason Nagi didn't do it was because he felt the players had improved more than he thought they had, or maybe he didn't want to single out certain players and make them feel like they need special treatment.
But I can tell you that you weren't part of the predetermined group. ;D

Beach, don't cry, you are strong. You can beat anyone in this tournament. Let those that don't have such a privileged position have their way.
