Not worth staying up for. CJ sucks donkey balls. All boring players with no BW talent. At least Khan is awesome. Have fun tonight Khan fans!!!!! Ill watch vods this weekend.
Any predictions for the ratio of posts during the BW sets vs the SC2 sets? I'm thinking 3:2, since many BW fans have already abandoned the KESPA scene, but that both CJ and Khan still have enough fans to watch through the SC2 sets.
Only 3 possible outcomes. 1) Rorolled 2) Herolled 3) Windows update, computers explode, back-up computers only have BW.
No KT or T8 here, so I'm cheering for none and I'm kinda okay with anyone winning this. I just want Stork to win his game, and it would be better if I'd see him happy too, so I guess I'm kinda siding with Khan a lil bit.
It's only right for CJ to bring this home. Though KHAN is a bitch at preparing. Let's hope they prepare lite Stork did vs. Fantasy (0-3 roflstomp) and not Jangbi vs Fantasy (back to back legend making)
On September 22 2012 12:28 Fenrax wrote: this is the least hyped grand final ever lol
the last had 400 pages. doubt we will reach that. Go Khan!
because this is not a grand final
it's a fake final, in which half of the games will be cheese. Shine of course, will bring hella nice cheese, but still...
3d set, shine going proxy hatch\nydus on Electric Circuit, flash being caught on camera doing bisu conspiracy face, skyhigh ggs, khan does epic 2-1 comeback
As a Khan fan who waited 4 years for us to be back in the finals again, this is quite depressing. And looks like BW will go out with a whimper rather than a boom. At the very least, as a final homage, we should have the ace match in BW rather than SC2.
Well, at the very least I hope my last memory of BW aren't a bunch of hydra busts. That's all I ask. And of course Khan wins. I personally don't care as much as a fan, but for the sake of team and players it's still awesome to win the PL
game 1: shine hydra busts horang2 game 2: leta bbs' juni game 3: hydra 5 pool's reality
game 4: stork wins with a vortex in an hour long pvz vs effort game 5: bbyong 1-1-1's jangbi game 6: roro baneling bust's skyhigh
game 7: they both unanimously decide brood war is the more appropriate game to ace match, effort wins in an hour long slugfest on fighting spirit against a team melee of jangbi/stork.
I hope that despite the rather unfortunate format of the season, they will give us great BW games that we'll keep forever in our hearts and be proud of once we're over the mourning.

Don't get your hopes up please. The games will be allins.

speed zergling all in, bbs and 5pool plz
Then in the SC2 set, RorO loses to sKyHigh's lategame mass Battlecruiser Ghost Raven composition on Ohana, Stork beats herO going templar tech vs mass colossi in a transcendental PvP on Antiga, and Jangbi beats Bbyong with a 2 Stargate carrier build.

so much cheese =). But for sake of THAT ace I can accept it.

that would be epic: but here is what will really happen.
BW:
G1: Shine vs. Horang2 shine 3-Hatch-Hydras Horang2 (who has 1 cannon because he expects Shine won't do it the 74th time in a row because that would be predictable so why not save the minerals) 1-0 Khan
G2: Stork vs. Leta Stork tries 3 base Arbiter play but Leta's push is just a bit too strong. 1-1
G3: Jangbi vs. Hydra 30 minute game and Jangbi pulls through.
SC2:
G1: RorO vs. Effort RorO wins in a dominating fashion because of buildorders. I dont know any SC2 buildorders but that is what will happen. 1-0
G2: Reality vs. HerO Reality tries hard and grinds out a big advantage but PvT is just too imba. 1-1
G3: Sharp vs. Bbyong Sharp forgets how this game works and dies embarassingly.
Ace Match: SHINE vs. Hero
Shine Baneling busts the shit out of Hero (who skimped on defense because he thinks Shine won't all in him since this time that would surely be too predictable so why not save the minerals). Shine is the hero of the day. And I still won't even consider hating him slightly less!
I'M SO HYPED!!! I know the games won't be as good as it was about 3 years ago, but this is the PL Finals ffs! Both teams have waited and worked really hard for this. One of them will have their dream come true. Since I'm not rooting for any team, I'd be really really fucking happy for whoever would win this.
I guess with this, televised Korean Brood War is coming to and end. I don't feel as sad as I expected. I just feel a vague sense of loss and melancholy, from knowing that we have passed by something beautiful, and we can never go back to relive it.
TIME TO PLAY THE GAME!!!!!!! STORK IS HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

About 4-5 immortals focus firing and literally one-shotting Stork's colossi.

HerO had better upgrades, a good spread of units, and better battle micro (the immortals targeting down colossus was huge).

Four immortals out of nowhere targeting down Stork's colossi. If Stork had done that in the initial big attack on hero's natural he probably would have broken him there, but sadly 'twas not to be.

Good that they've decided to keep BW for next season toon. Without BW it would be even less populated. Even the comentators seem to feel like it's just a preliminary not a final.

Oh well. Televised Korean BW had a good run. I truly am thankful for all the games and all the stories that have happened. All the strats that occured, and all the lessons I got to learn from watching these players.

Thanks for turning off your streams during the memorial video, btw. Maybe it was a rerun but I hadn't seen it yet and it was a good time to be watching it.
Ok here's something to spark a discussion, we need more pages on this. Whats your favorite PL season, favorite PL match, favorite PL game. Whats your top fantasy PL finish?
So I will start. My favorite season was 08-09. That was the longest cycle ever and I watched every single match. I woke up 5-6am every morning during the weekend to watch everything with two streams loaded up. I skipped classes before afternoon to watch lame stuff like STX vs Sparkiz which was not of a big interest to anyone. My team finished up 20th in the first fantasy PL. I had 3 ACE players on it, samioldguy even interviewed me how I was so nuts with my picks and still managed to do so well. My favorite game is perhaps Flash vs firebathero on Medusa.

Fav pl season: SPL 08-09 reason being first season I was exposed to BW. I probably watched a good 80% of all matches played. Best pl game: too hard to choose Most memorable pl game: jd vs fanta on outsider day 1 (that motha******)

10-11 Because I watched it the most also because KT was exciting to watch (usually KTF, KT zerg play off, random fail mid season shenanigans). Favorite match probably the KT v SKT proleague finals of 2011 and NOT seeing Bisu or Fantasy come out for ace match for SKT. Favorite game... Sea vs Boxer in SKY 2006?

For me it'd be the last pure BW proleague 2011-2012... it was truly a fitting ending for BW and this last season sort of was like Michael Jordan trying to prove everyone that he still had it at a really old age... sure BW had its moments this season, but still this season it was painful to watch the two games side by side that many lost interest~
SPL 2009/10. The culmination of Flash's dominance and Jaedong following suite until they each got a golden mouse meeting up in the most epic finals I've ever seen. Their clash at the WCG on Tau Cross still defies reason. Not to mention that epic power outage game. Double 4 pool? Also, rookies like MVP beat Flash with battle cruisers getting enough confidence to tear up an entire scene. STX and MBC had a great season finishing 2nd and 3rd. Players like Light, Sea, Hyva, Jaehoon, Tyson, Calm, Shuttle, Kal, Hero showed amazing games. Go.go was still around. Oh, and hydralisks got SUPER popular in the meta game. All of a sudden everyone was hydra-busting protosses. To the point where Nal_ra weighed in with his opinion that protosses need to experiment with random pylon / cannon combinations. Players were using dark archons and arbiters.
One game to summarize it all: Stork vs. Flash on HBR Korean OSL s1 (Ro16 I think). On a cold December morning the LR thread was overflowing with shouting fans commentating about the game.

Season: 2009-2010. KTFlash pwnin, KT won both finals(WL finals and grand finals), beach finals iirc, has Outsider, match point, fighting spirit, hbr, and most of all, it's the last season with 12 teams, which is much much more interesting and exciting than the next seasons.
Match: 2010-2011 Finals. KT won with their original players Flash(twice), Stats and Hoejja(who saved the team from an 0-4). My 3 favorite players and the best of KT from each race(well, not really). That's some godly line-up right there.
Game: Flash vs FBH on Medusa. 1 hour TvT, ace match, Flash comeback, most epic ending and gg moment ever(with dat surround and dem screams from the crowd and the commentators, never fails to give me chills every time I rewatch it).
Heartbreaker finals series for SKT fans right there; even though they were so dominating that season; only 2009 could compare in terms of come-backs. Awesome games all the time; from what I've watched of older vods and live, only late 2011 in S1 and 2005 could match in intensity.
Game:
I'd have to choose between Flash vs Fantasy SKPlanet S1 Finals, or Fantasy vs Jaedong D1 Shinhan Bank 2009; both games dictated how the rest of their series would go.
Season: SPL 10-11. After following KT through the 09-10 season and becoming a fan, I was so excited when they made their way back to the finals again and took 2 consecutive championships.
Game: Either Flash vs Leta on La Mancha or also Flash vs FBH on Neo Medusa. Both are really epic TvT's.
Year of the Dong: Made CJ look like a team or practice partners until he decided to 5-pool. Carried his team all the way to the finals, beating effort twice (traded 2 lings for 6 in one game) in which he lost epicly. In the same season, he got his golden mouse.
And the finals were a bit shocking to say the least. Still, it was an amazing(not really) fight against the man who would never lose in a PL final.
match? Fantasy vs Stork bacchus OSL finals. Only OSL finals i watched live. In the preshow there was some guy in his underwear playing the guitar in front of a CRT-like TV. The way that Stork looked like an absolute noob and was left scratching his head was amazing.

Not reallly true? He stood in for Flash for ace matches and won. Infact looking up his record he was on a 5 win streak before KT got knocked out of the playoffs.
heh.... goodbye BW. These last games were both quite good ones, with Horang2 making a miraculous comeback (ok I know toss needs only to a-move, but still he had to do muuuuuuch work to win this), and Snow playing an interesting unit-combo drop strategy on Shine. The only bad thing about them is that they were the LAST. T_T
Given the terrible turnouts and clearly decline overall interest, makes me wonder whether KeSPA regrets the decision to switch games now, especially since there is really no going back.
At least from what I gather from bits I hear and looking at the attendance at games I'm not sure how much longer KeSPA will be around if they don't start capitalizing on the international markets and soon.

When money is involved, going back is never out of the question. I think if fans and KeSPA players were to unite and demand the return of BW, it would probably happen. It's the same I've been repeating over and over: KeSPA wanted to off BW because sponors apparently didn't want anything to do with it, but sponsors care about money above all else, and the ratings during the last OSL and pre-hybrid Pro League were as strong as ever.

Anywho, it's unlikely, but it could happen.
I don't see Kespa teams sustain such high salaries like in BW times, do you? The players might get significantly more money than GSL players but i see many A-teamers just retiring after a huge drop in salary.
The saddest thing about this finals is that I don't even really care that Khan lost so badly. And I'm generally quite emotionally involved in how well Khan does as well as Stork/Jangbi in individual leagues. Heck, I was more emotionally distressed by Khan's loss to Oz in the 2007 SPL finals, and I saw that one on VOD... and knew the result beforehand.
I doubt I'll ever care about esports nearly as much as I used to back in the BW days.
Seemed like his PL was shit. There wasnt even a thread talking about where the finals would be held at. No hype thread or anything. Khan got rolled. Seemed like they really only practice for SC2 and tried to win where it really matter.
Kespa should have killed BW last season and gone straight sc2 if they wanted to phase out BW. SKT vs KT should've been the final BW PL. It was a final that went down till the very end.

I would LOVE to hear what the legions of blizzealots have to say about this. Do you clown realize that if that was an SC2 event all the seats would have been empty? Even if Kespa decides to finally tell Blizzard to go fuck themselves, as they should have firmly done from the very beginning, how many BW players would still be active by that time? And even more importantly, how are they gonna recover from not practicing BW for such a long time?
Yeah. No more Kespa LR threads in this section anymore

No one even pointed out that Bisu didn't even play in the semi finals round against CJ. We didn't get to see Stork even play a BW game in the last 2 months. And with Jaedong and Flash losing their last games it ended about as disgracefully as possible. I've been working hard on supporting SC2 just because I knew these guys would end up playing it. Now I don't think I care anymore. I just hope one day I can have kimchi with Bisu. Even if he is 30,40, older....
