With today's win, Soo ended another perfect last round 6-0.
Q: So Soo, "the winner of the last round", you've been winning everything in the last rounds, both in this season and last season, what are your thoughts with today's win? A: It was a really important game so I'm happy to win in the last game.
Q: Any special hints or things you do differently to have such good results in the last round? Do you eat anything? A: Well the last round is what really puts money in your pockets, so i think I just get better with the situation.
Q: So you get a money-buff in the last rounds... What do you think'll happen if SKT started to give you incentives if you won in the first couple rounds? A: I think i'll have to think about it ^^
Q: You can take the lead with this game, any last words? A: Well it's crucial we win, so I think the team will all play well.
Q: You must have felt panicked when Jaehoon rushed in, froze a lot of your army and pushed all the way to your front expansion. A: Yeah I almost lost because I had so many vultures die before the engagement. So his zealots rolled over my tanks.
Q: You were really in a sticky situation but you somehow pulled out. A: Yeah, I think it was because of the tanks at 1 that destroyed the Nexus while Jaehoon was pushing out.
Q: The response to your two tanks are viral online. People are saying it was the crucial point that won you the game. A: Actually I had forgotten about them when Jaehoon pushed out. I think I might have won a whole lot less stressfully if I remembered them and pulled them out to defend [T/N really?] but it led to a better game that I left them there.
Q: 2nd round you have such a good record but you've never gotten the daily MVP this round yet. What are you thoughts? A: Yeah I felt really sad when i never won, but when I won, a different player would win or the team would lose
Q: Anything you want to say about your MVP... Do you think you'll win it today? A: I felt bad not winning it ever this season, I hope I'll get it today and bring the win for the home.
T8 already knocked Samsung out of #1 with a 3-0 sweep (while fielding ryul2) and 3-0'ed SKT last round. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see another clean sweep.

All SKT has to do is 3-0 to lock down first place. But no matter which team ends up first, they'll have one of the least dominant first place records ever in terms of W-L ratio.
Oh, and I want to see Fantasy TvP. Either Jaehoon or Tyson would be good.
I don't want a Jaedong vs Bisu game... They're my two favorite players and right now, honestly they both need a confidence boost... Hopefully Jaedong crushes Fantasy and Bisu wins his game in a long but awesome and good game!!!
What the heck.... SKT always gets sooo good at the end of the season... Soo with a 5W streak, Bisu 2, Best 2, and Fanta at 2 or something... crazy... momentum to carry all the way to gold!!!

Might as well give the rookies some game time. Its the first set as well.

Well, sure, if they don't mind potentially getting 3-0'd and giving SKT first place. But after their performance vs. Khan, I thought they wanted to finish the season with some awesome matches.
Well whatever, what are you going to do? Soo was doing a great job of denying scouting. All that Sang got to see was that his 3rd hatch was at a 3rd base. Going robo before stargate basically was the nail in the coffin since his corsair didnt' get out in time to see what was happening.

Pull Probes before the cannons die is one possibility.

Waaah? Why's Bisu getting the Weekly MVP title?! I love the guy, but his performence has been shaky recently, whereas players like Soo had a really good record, and might need the boost of confidence more.
Soo : I Work so hard in killing scouting probes with my lings, and I made hydra's It's really easy actually to win versus a Protoss . Please look forward in the future in me making more hydras for an easy win . Thank you :D

now that T8 is definitely out, levelling up the players makes sense. they are no longer on this season, but looking forward to the next. who knows once again they may find a gem like ryul2? the problem with t8 this season is their lineup is so predictable. with more rookies gaining experience, they will be a stronger team next season.

I know he was focusing exclusively on tvp before he moved to ace and got a little better at it.
But it wasn't amazing, he's still pretty bad at it.
i started watching a little late - can someone describe to me what was special about jaehoon's build? i saw he had multiple shuttles, waited a while to get zeals... anything else?
Tank above Jaehoon's re-warping 4th sieges up - now mass vultures moving out - goons clear out that drop but once again Jaehoon transfers his probes into a vulture pack...
still, all vultures lost to the goons nearby
but more vultures finishing off the remnants of the probes lolz
Taking out the fourth saved Fantasy this game. Jaehoon would have been in an almost unloseable position if he had kept the fourth while expanded to his 5th.
Oh wow, 9 kill zealot on 6th, DT and zealot going rampage on 9th. Fantasy now gathering with 3 SCV but Jaehoon also only have 1rd up, which is being attacked by Terran deathball!
Such an epic game!!!! So happy I wathed it... On the end of my chair the whole time... I love BW... Only in BW can a game this back and forth happen... YES SKT!!!!
That was sad Jaehoon, with cleaner execution, you should have won the game easily. Those reavers fail were really bad, and you shouldn't lose an expo to two tanks. Good crisis management by Fanta though.
On March 10 2012 12:56 c3rberUs wrote: jaehoon almost had it there, but his macro faltered after fantasy's push.
Still, good game!
He didn't have resources actually he was only running on one base with saturated probes while the top right didn't have many probes in the first place . So he can't macro when he doesn't have enough resources ....

Agreed, but Jaehoon vs Fantasy a VERY close second....Jaehoon sloppy plays aside, you'd be lying if you said that wasn't an exciting TvP for a majority of the game
On March 10 2012 12:53 friendbg wrote: how did fantasy get back from this
He had so many mines which not only look bits of Jaehoons armry but also gave him time to move around the map, catching a ton of probes helped too
Jaehoon's critical mistake was pressing into Fantasy's natural when he successfully broke the huge tank line. If he sent the rest of his army to kill the CC at Fantasy's 3rd there is no way for Fantasy to come back. By going into his natural he traded the rest of his army for a few more tanks.
The game was so close because fantasy didn't scan to adapt his army composition. Jaehoon made a lots of zealots, while fanta was massing tanks. Had he produced 5 vultures instead of 3 tanks he would have rolled much faster because he did a lot of damage with vultures prior to first encounter.
I wondered if Jaehoon opted for a recall at the third would it have leaded to a better advantage for hoon ? Or Fanta would take it as an opportunity to roll in to jaehoon natural and lock it down . That game was really close.....

Although being a Zerg fan and have little to no interested in the warfare of other races, I have to admit that I am starting to fall in love with the Protoss vs Terran matchup. Unlike the bloody Zerg vs Terran or the tech battle of Protoss vs Zerg, PvT is all all about grinding armies together until one comes out victorious.

It was not Best macro, it was Tyson stupid positionating. His zeas were back, his reavers were out of the shuttle in front, his goons were versus the zeas, no a single storm was done. He fucked everything. Too bad for T8 :c
Holy shit, what a fight! Equal armies, with Best having no Templars. A few seconds of chaos, and then all of Best's Zealots connect with Tyson's Dragoons! From 160-160 to 130 vs 65 population within the span of 15 seconds... breath-taking.

lol more like Tyson lost the game with horrible reaver control and not researching storms.

It's hard to tell whether you're serious. Did you not see the reavers getting gang-banged by zealots and Tyson moving his army back without attacking?
Yeah I honestly though tyson's templars were going to murder there, but blahh

That happens when you look like you're purposefully dropping reavers on top of zealots. Tyson's positioning was hilariously bad, Best's macro still as good as ever though.

Well after every grand finals there's boxes of "We're the champion" shirts and caps that have to disappear without a trace as the other team breaks out THEIR shirts and caps.
Macro was not the issue here. Tyson was going for a faster tech, so he cut units in comparison to Best. The problem was forgetting storm (which he clearly intended to use), and pretty much epicly fucking up his positioning and micro

That's pretty much a general final's tradition for any sport though.
The only units doing damage for Tyson during the battle were his goons. He forgot his zealots in the back. Then when he realized that he moved-commanded them into scarabs and archons. His reavers didnt fire a single scarab and his ht's didn't storm.

Sure. It was just a comment on your comment about having to take that prepared banner home if they didn't win 3-0.
Congrats to SKT (and fans) on the first place. It was well deserved. CJ, KT and Khan all looked strong for brief periods of the season, but SKT came out looking most solid and consistent in the end.

Best is good at picking moments like that to attack, though.

Agreed. It was his decision to finally move over to the other side of the map even though he wanted to a few times prior to that final attack. He caught Tyson with his pants down.

Weird season for SKT, but I guess we came right when it mattered. Now we just need to hold our form for the GF.
My pleasure!
Once again, thank you everyone for posting and joining me in the celebrations! I always bring good karma to live matches it seems (viewing or threading)..
Come to think of it, it would actually have been more exciting if SKT had lost exactly one game. First, because we'd probably have gotten Bisu vs Jaedong, but more importantly because it would have forced KT to go 3-0 twice in order to steal the first spot.
Oh wow that 3-0 ! I just got up, read the PL recap and saw :
Good news for the fans of SKT in the form of a guaranteed playoff spot, and if they can best Team 8 three zero this week they will be ensured the coveted first place that they managed to achieve last season.
Then I jumped on the results here... fuck yeah ! See you on April 7th SKT T1 !

Even worse to come back home and realize that the KT vs ACE game was something I SHOULD have watched.
Sad day
;;
Some people don't appreciate what they have...
Oh I do. But I've gotten used quite hard to it so. And especially since I was forced to go back home, missing out on ACE.
(+ being a T8 fan kind of breaks your heart to see them lose so hard).
On another notice, I met the players when I was searching for a restaurant with my friend. We sadly just stood and pointed and couldn't bring up the courage to ask for a pic.
Especially Sea. He downright stared at me when he walked by.
That's still not 1½. In fact, it can go quite faster than 1 hour if there's only a few people on the subway (which it was). And its not exactly wasted either so...
holy shit how did fanta won that 2nd game !!! wow..
Honestly Jaehoon helped him a lot to win. But the more awful game was the third, wth reavers doing nothing and high templars without storms are lets say not so effective -.- should at least make an archon out of them.
Bad luck... Soo just no skilled his way to another zvp win. I hate Soo more and more for every game. Jaehoon droped the ball against Fanta when he had the game won, twice. You have to be more lucky to win against SKT. I'm not even mad.
Hmm not a good idea to thank Bisu-fan for the translation.. it's kind of obvious who won. Like when I saw Okum or Blind-rawr being super happy about the KT vods being up fast, thanking the guy who loaded them up.. I just know who won before seing the game. I know how hard it is to avoid those kinds of spolers though.
Nice way to spoil my mood after glancing that KT lost to ace, and having SKT secure 1st place. I hope to hell that SKT gets schooled by any team that enters the finals, preferably not KT

He was going to do all the translations regardless, and I made an entire MS Paint banner for it, kinda indicates that it was pre-planned no? Therefore I think no cognizance of results can be justifiably asserted.

You are right.. It's just my head playing tricks on me then
So, KT lost to ace (bonus Flash lost to reaver again) and SKT won 3-0. Must be happiest day of my life! I actually stopped watching these games live due having paranoid of SKT losing everytime I do that, and going to keep it. This is just too good to be true
On March 10 2012 17:07 Lucumo wrote: Seriously, what was up with that line-up. Coach is biased, wanted SKT to win :<
He didn't seem biased at all when his team 3-0ed SKT in round 2, with Jaehoon and Tyson winning their games.
He probably didn't expect them to win.
Seeing as how Team 8 had no chance to qualify anymore, I don't think it's a bad decision to let a rookie, Sang, play his first match of the season. Also, Tyson won Bisu in thier last encounter, so sending him out when both Best and Bisu were still to come is not a bad decision; it's not the fault of the coach that Tyson engaged horribly.
