Did we just witness a revolution? If so, somewhere, sAviOr must be smiling that a CJ zerg may have dethroned the Tyrant in his best matchup and sent him into a deep slump.

Not really a revolution since he just played standard against Jaedong and it was ZvZ, if it was PvZ or something, then NOW we would be talking. I'd say its mostly Jaedong is getting old and Hydra is fresh blood. On the OTHER hand Great will make the so-called revolution!

ZvZ is a very crazy matchup. JD was ahead in everything in game 2 until an unfortunate overlord placement caused him to be supply blocked and lose. Game 1, similar unfortunate play cost him the game. JD fought hard in games 3 and 4, but ultimately in 5, just barely lost, again trying to squeeze a few too many drones because he didn't see the hatch.

I feel like this was mostly Hydra knowing JD's playstyle and the tricks that JD uses that make him so dominant, and Hydra exploited the hell out of them. I'd say that this means Hydra is an incredibly solid player who knows how to win, but I don't think this means JD is going to savior-slump.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ There are three kinds of people in the world: those who can count and those who can't.

So many upsets, including my upset stomach at JD losing. Something is going on and I'm going to go ahead and say it's voodoo.
Do an arranged marriage if she's not completely minging, and don't worry about dancing, get a go-kart, cheers.

Not true at all, if he kept up the pressure with lings (which he did) he could prevent hydra from taking his 2nd gas too quickly and so even if hydra defended the lings, JD would still be in the game for a while even after mutas are out. Mass lings -> few drones -> not enough minerals/drones for a 2nd gas. Obviously the build was cheesy, for the 12hatch vs 9pool scenario, I'm just saying that the 12hatch vs 12hatch scenario which happened (where one player tries to squeeze in a few too many drones) was pretty standard.

The reason he "tried to squeeze in a few too many drones" was because he couldn't see the hatch. That's where the hatch being hidden helps. That's the cheesy part.

Do you watch a PvT with proxy robo->reaver and say "Oh sure that was just a standard PvT, the Terran just got greedy and got his turrets late"?

- Did you sense the hidden hatchery in Game 3?
▲ I saw his base with the Overlord, but I didn't see a Hatchery at his natural, so I suspected it. But I think I lost because I tried to make too many Drones. I thought I had almost won, but unfortunately I lost.

Sorry, it's kinda dirty to come back and reply hours later, but I saw that in the interview thread and I couldn't help but say "I told you so."

Yeah, Hydra did go and build a sunken, he thought something like that might be up and tried to counter it. He didn't do enough. So in that sense you were right, he built too many drones and mistimed his sunken (or realised too late, same difference).

Doesn't change the fact that JD's build is cheesy and cannot be called standard.

edit: Indeed if it was standard play, there wouldn't have been an interview question about it.

I have to say like many others, that that series was one of the best ZvZ's I've ever seen. My heart was pumping so hard throughout the whole match, and there were way too many nail-biting intense moments last night. Thanks to those games, I think I can truly appreciate ZvZ matchups more instead of me thinking that ZvZ's are snorefests from now on.

And I know that it's a douche move to quote yourself, but I totally called it:

From what I saw of the games, Hydra had one thing on Jaedong: mutalisk micro. It looked like they had basically even numbers of mutas in games 1, 2 and 5.

The battles happened too fast for me to see the exact tactics, but Hydra's mutas seemed to just keep firing and hitting while Jaedong's would weave and not fire. The result was that Jaedong seemed to keep taking extra damage.

So obviously, I don't think this is the end of Jaedong. It's just that one player got a really good read on Jaedong's style of mutalisk micro, and used it in a Bo5 repeatedly to pound Jaedong.

Jaedong should be able to adjust and become his dominant self in ZvZ again.

only a Lee can beat a Lee, oh wait...

Nada`s accomplishment`, thou they are one tittle away from both Flash and Jaedong , is trully a pain in the ass to get.

Perhaps Nada cant be surpassed.

Hydra could use some emotion or personality.

Remember when Calm beat JD in the semifinals and started crying? That was very touching

Hydra did very well, but it makes me sad to see JD lose. Hope he can regain his mojo and that there's some explanation in the write-up why he lost those muta battles - ZvZ is still confusing
"Bisu is just too good." - Jaedong (http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=218995) "Bisu hyung's play is just too good" - Flash (http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=225861)

It's fairly likely atleast one of them will win a title next season. This season was a nice break from that, but the semifinals all kind of blew this season without lee-ssang.
