Jangbi used to lose PvZ like that all the time: 2 corsair -> scourged -> fail DT -> epic storms that just don't dent a massively ahead zerg army. (Of course, now PvZ is all he's good at, so w/e). I'd say its the change in the fundamental strategy of PvZ. Before, it was 4 Gate 2 Archon, which was powerful, but hit at too late of a timing (in today's timings at least) and was susceptible to Hydra busts. With 4 Gate 2 Archon, you didn't really have the money to spare for the 6 sairs. Now that the fundamental strat of PvZ is the 2 Gate +1 Speedlot rush, it hits at a faster timing (which sometimes ends up killing zergs outright if they don't have enough defense up in time) and it gets the 6 sairs (because it is necessary for defense agianst Muta openings). Also a lot of weird offbeat strats are being invented in PvZ, like the ones Jaehoon is using. I'm just surprised Zergs have not changed up play already. Just in the past few weeks it's clear going for fast 4base doesn't work against any decent opponent even with a good simcity. I think they need to go back to basics and good old fashion aggressive ZvP (not hydra busts though). Muta's are being made to look as bad as trying to use wraiths against P in recent games except the odd really bad P player. They should take the normal 3rd for a change instead of another nat so they can reinforce quicker and put an end to these easy early-mid game wins for P. 3 Base Hydra/Lurker/Muta is risky as hell though, the most successful game of this recently I'd say was Action vs Bisu, but that's only because Bisu was sloppy with his early sairs and totally completely lost all air-control. In the crucial battle, if Bisu didn't get his HT sniped he would've steamrolled through Action. 4 Base turtle works, its just that progamers are getting TOO greedy w/ the strategy and attempt to cut way too many corners (that smart protosses abuse) | ||
