Hi, and welcome to the third Player Spotlight. What is Player Spotlight? An alternative to Q&A, which lets me slack off writing questions, and which is supposed to give you a short overview about players you might not know so well. Due to that limitation, I'm trying to include mostly less highlighted, and non-Ace players here, and I think I've made two good picks here. Brave's enormous winstreak in PL has made Jangbi's fall far easier for Samsung to stomach, but he is rarely hyped as much as his Big Dinobrother or even fellow Rookie. Hyuk, on the other hand, is the archetypal SKT Zerg, whose fans riddicule him as often as they cheer for him. While SKT fans are often quick to notice whether Fantasy or Bisu have played, the poor captain is usually shunned. And he looks appropriately sad about it. I hope you enjoy these writeups, and appreciate the players at least a bit more.
There's often an underlying image or characteristic that is associated with each race in Starcraft. I'm not sure what the other two races are supposed to be, but for Protoss (which is the best race, after all), the associated characteristics are masculinity, bravery, and strength. In live broadcasts, both MBC and OGN broadcasters often use phrases like “growing strength of the Protoss army ball,” “brave zealot push at Zerg’s 3rd base,” “what a masculine looking Protoss player,” and so on.
However, this player spotlight is NOT about the Mantoss. It’s about a brave player who’s got brave looks and has shown bravery in his brave matches so far. Can you (bravely) guess who?
Brave is so HOT
Brave (Korean name: Lim Tae Gyu) is a 19-year old Protoss rookie player in Samsung Khan. His debut match was back in 2009 when he faced Really in SPL. He made 7 more appearances in SPL 09-10, finishing with a respectable record of 4-4. In the ensuing summer, Brave defeated Light 2-1 in the 1st set of Ro36 of Korean Air OSL Season 2 but lost 0-2 to Fantasy in the 2nd set. Back then, broadcasters/commentators noticed that this new Protoss certainly showed potential in terms of fundamental skills and gameplay, but lacked overall decision making and multitasking.
Samsung Khan is traditionally a Protoss fortress, led by the flawless commander Stork and the not-so-flawless Jangbi. For those that kept an eye on Brave, they predicted that Brave’s appearance in SPL 10-11 may be limited despite the change in the format. Coach January thought otherwise, and gave Brave an ample number of appearances to prove himself – and Brave did just that. In SPL 10-11 so far, Brave has a record of 8-1. Brave didn’t bravestomp through a bunch of scrubs either; he has defeated (this year) top-class players like Stats, Kal, and Action.
Both players start the same: first gate – cybernetics core – goon range upgrade – second gate. When Kal’s scout leaves his base, Brave goes citadel – templar archive. This is a great move that shows Brave’s thought process is one level above Kal’s. Because the Kal saw the 2nd gateway and range upgrade, Brave knew that Kal would have assumed that Brave was going standard 2gate into robotics facility, so he decided to go the other tech route. Taking advantage of having two gates, Brave produced two dark templars, one of which he used to defend against Kal’s 3-gate push and the other which he rushed to Kal’s base to get 9 probe kills. Knowing that he’s at a great advantage, Brave expanded to his natural while acquiring high templars. Kal, as Brave anticipated, went for a 3-gate all-in push with 2 reavers. With excellent storms and probe blocking, Brave defended the push successfully and proceeded to crush Kal with superior economy.
In the past interviews, Brave said the following: - PvP is his most confident match-up - He prefers playing against the upper-class players rather than other rookies - His playing style is 20% Stork, 20% Jangbi, and 60% lack of apm - He wants to gain one additional fan for every win, but so far the fans haven’t been coming =( - Despite the success in SPL so far, he knows that he must also achieve good results in individual leagues in order to become a top-class player
In today’s match against SKT1, it is very possible that January will use Brave as a sniping card against Bisu or Best. As mentioned above, Brave is most confident in PvP, and he has not lost a PvP so far this season. Since Khan does not have a reliable Zerg card other than Great, January must use at least one non-Zerg card to take out SKT’s Protoss lineup. Can Brave continue his hot streak in SPL and earn his 9th win of the season? We shall see!
Who is this progamer? As I'm sure you've guessed, it is the lovable 박재혁 (Park Jae Hyuk), probably better known as Hyuk.
Hyuk's role in the team
I'm sure most of you are aware of who he is. He is the captain of SK Telecom T1 and the most famous of the characters known as the SKTZergs. The SKTZergs, once thought to be downright awful, have shown that they indeed to have the power to play well, albeit sporadically and often end up being rather unreliable. Yet they did save SKT in Round 4 of the 09-10 Proleague with a number of 3-0s that no one could have expected. While they still show signs of brilliance, these zergs also demonstrate a large degree of failure. Hyuk himself is known for his Hyuk-style, the ability to lose a won game. Nevertheless, he has had many notable accomplishments.
Hyuk was a part of this round 4 sweep, but possibly his most notable achievement is the all-kill of STX in the STX Master Cup. At this time, it was quite accepted that Hyuk was a mediocre, or perhaps even awful, player despite his apparent success in practice. Yet he managed to knock out Bogus, by.hero, Hwasin, and Kal despite his rather awful winrate, winning SKT the STX Masters Cup. To be fair, it is basically a showmatch, but an all-kill is impressive regardless. But his most important contribution was likely in the Proleague Playoffs Grand Final in 2009(SKT vs OZ), where he managed to defeat Jaedong, infamous for his invincible ZvZ play, in a crucial series(which ended 4-3 in SKT's favor) to avoid a match which very well could have cost SKT the 2009 Proleague gold. Despite his inadequacies, Hyuk is an integral part of SKT and they couldn't do without his aid, whether given through his play or through his amazing spirit.
Hyuk's current form
Where is Hyuk now? Pretty much, only in the OSL Ro16, placed in Flash's group as an SKT insurance player(because Flash loves hating on weak SKT players). He isn't successful enough in the proleague to even be fielded, and he didn't qualify for the MSL. But with luck on his side, he may yet be able to prove that he is not just insurance but a player that belongs in the OSL Ro8. But to do this, he will have to face his greatest challenge: overcoming the wretched Flash. He was placed there as insurance. He is expected to simply roll over and die against Flash, and he may do so, but if there is yet a chance for him to show that his ZvT record is flawed and that he truly can amount to greatness, his chance has come. He will either become the hero of all players(exception: Flash fans), or else he will continue to be mediocre forever. Which will it be? Most likely, Hyukstyle will kick in and he will be mediocre. But never lose hope, or else you can never be disappointed.
Did you know? ...Despite his mediocre record against terran, Hyuk is 3-2 against TvZ master Hwasin?(before you say it, none of these games were fixed btw, I know that for a fact.) ...Hyuk is 4-0 against up-and-coming protoss Snow? ...he made dual Ro16's last season despite how often he is regarded as mediocre? ...he has produced some awesome games in practice against Bisu(check out the replays section)? ...he was made captain because of his previous history with Kwanro when Kwanro joined SKT?
Hopefully SKT will get back on track and get a win. Lost several of the past matches, squandering a lot of the round 1 lead. Best being sick obviously hasn't helped, either.
Last two times Hyuk played in this PL season he Hyuked! himself. I'm still puzzled about his OSL sucess when in PL he can't figure how to beat ANY terran opponent and loose most times against Zergs. And who cares about Fantasy when we have Ssak lol SoO vs soO could be a the battle for the nickname

Nice to see each teams big 3 in the banner. Shame only Stork and Bisu are atm living up to their status. (before anyone disparages great about being mediocre, i'd like to mention that last season during the protoss slump he was a reliable ace candidate for the team with a solid .60 ....end rant)
The player spotlights are indeed pretty cool, thanks for writing that guys! ^__^
After reading the end of the Hyuk part I realized that I had completely forgotten about Hwasins existance. Why did he have to be a dirty fucking cheater, I miss his super sexy TvZ.
Disappointing as it's been to see SKT dropping matches recently, a team can't be at their peak intensity all the time. Better to dip in form now and revive for the Winner's League format in the next two rounds than struggle later and lose momentum for finals. It does highlight SKT's worrying reliance on FBB, however; even with two of those three winning there's no confidence one of the second-stringers can pull out another win to take it to ace. Step it up SKT non-aces...and what the hell has happened to Kwanro?
Bisu wins and Khan wins. Hopefully SKT's coach continues his experiments and sends S2, Canata and Kwanro so that Khan can get a better result (and more points). ^_^
...on second thought, this is actually pretty close because everyone besides Fanta/Bisu/Best pretty much sucks on SKT1....I'm definitely a Khan fan, but my LB might be about to take a big hit.

If you are TRULY a Khan's fan, then you would believe in them ANYTIME ANYWHERE.

2 weeks ago, I'd agree and say easy SKT win, but fantasy has been looking shaky lately and Best hasn't been appearing a decent amount of the time. We'll see what happens.
Also, your list is missing Sun, he's probably better than everyone else in those parentheses, especially against protoss-heavy Khan.
:O SKT is slumping a little and the amount of people cheering for them (according to the poll) dropped drastically. There are so many imposters among us!! >.<
Heres for Beesuit's revolution ripping apart the Supreme Commander's army~ ( i love Stork though )
Rooting for Khan here, even though SKT is my #2 favorite team. I would really like to see Stork vs Fantasy if Fantasy decides to start playing good again (Jangbi vs Fantasy used be so good back when they both made Starleauge finals). Bisu vs Stork and Best vs Stork would laso be good (all three of SKT's top players have a history of good games vs Stork).
So pumped for this match, been looking forward to it since I saw it on the calender a week ago. Surprised that SKT isn't winning a "who are you rooting for" pool. Guess Stork love is on the rise. I was going to comment after reading the player spotlights, but they look indepth, so I probaly am going to spend some time on them. great banner as always. Prediction: n.Die_soO < Aztec >Reality s2< Circuit Breaker >Stork Fantasy< Icarus >great BeSt< Fortress >Sharp Bisu< Bloody Ridge >JangBi ssak< Empire of the Sun >Brave Bisu< Benzene > Stork

That's what would have been the thought process for Airforce ACE, but look what happened there. :o
This should be a good match. I didn't plan on staying up for it, but it so turns out I just fucked my sleep schedule up even more than I thought possible. Go Starcraft!

Thanks for the early thread and player spotlight. Thanks in advance for the stream as well.
After missing the last couple of SKT games I'm finally able to watch this one live again.
SKT's poor Rd 2 seems so wasteful after some really hard fought wins in Rd 1, but sickness and slumps happen, and other teams always lift. I have to admit it's made for one hell of a PL season so far.
As a Toss fan SKT-Khan is always something I look forward to. I just hope SKT can get a result and stop the horror run.
2 AM here and just gotwoken up by the un-fucking-believable event of my girlfriend getting stung by a scorpion while we slept. Now we have to wait out the venom to take effect (sleeping is a no-no in case of heavy but slow reaction)
I guess ill see the match. I hope this at least means magnificent games.

Alas, fairweather fandom strikes once more. Or else a lot of SKT fans are more Khan than SKT fans. Probably both. Oh and all non-SKT fans would rather Khan win.

So, either your house (or the house that you are in) is infested with scorpions, or you are camping, and you found the need to bring your laptop with you? Not sure which is odder.

Scorpions are generally scared of the sound of people talking though.

Perks of living in central america. The house is right by a forested area. Actually my family has been pretty lucky to never have been stung since they (scorpions) do come about at times of the year. But we get other furry critters too though! Racoons and the like. A few months ago an owl made a tree above my room its living space.

I'm leaning slightly more to SKT because I'm still pissed off with the Hite management for rehiring that coach involved in the match-fixing. So I'd rather SKT remain top of the league.
..he was made captain because of his previous history with Kwanro when Kwanro joined SKT?
could yoiu explain?
Hyuk and Kwanro don't really like each other, and they made Hyuk captain so he could be Kwanro's superior. Why they don't like each other, I don't remember.

Uh, that seems like a horrible coaching decision
I think its a good decision. Hyuk is also popular among his teammates because of his outgoing personality.
Hyuk goes overpool into expo while Stork goes for forge fast expand. Stork lets Hyuk put down the nat hatch without a hitch. Stork goes nexus before cannons.
If SKT is going to be successful this season they need to get some wins from their Zerg line. Atm it feels like Coach Park is just giving them all a chance hoping that one of them will put his hand up and say "you must pick me each week".
In round 1 that Zerg was Kwanro initially and then SoO. This round they've all pretty much failed to attain any sort of consistency, tho tbh I think Kwanro and Hyuk have been given fewer opportunities than SoO and s2.
Gateway goes down to finish that wall at Stork's nat Hyuk placing his third hatch at 11 Zerglings out chasing that probe, Hyuk morphing in that lair, meanwhile stork gets his core
Stargate warping in as stork's forge spins. Probe still being chased by zerglings. Lair finishes and Hyuk makes a spire. Adun warping in for Stork, he's also adding another gate.
2 more gates added, sunken placed at the nat. There's zerglings there too
Speed kicks in, speed lots heading towards Hyuk's third, they back away after seeing the sunken Robo warping in. Meanwhile in the middle of the map zerglings run into zealots, a few zerglings die
Sair flying around Hyuk's bases to get some info. Hyuk has a few hydras out. Stork preparing to take his third.
Lurker ling army didnt really do that much damage I think.... but it did pull presure away from Hyuk's bases. Hyuk's army moving into the middle of the map.
Hyuk has all his overlords bunched up near his third. Nex warping in at 6 Lurkers are out with lings, they head towards stork's nat, deflected though by zealots and cannons they move to 6 where Stork is expanding. Zealots arrive with observer, lings attacking the nex, lurkers dying and the expo is safe.
Hyuk taking his fourth at 10, Hyuk engages, storms! Hyuk still has a lot of units though, more storms! Hydras dying left and right, still some lurkers left though, wow stork is storming the heck out of hyuk's army
Lings trying to deny that 7 expo, meanwhile stork is killing Hyuk's 10 10 goes down, Storks 7 goes down too
Stork heading for the nat, storms going off while zealots charge in. Lurkers and hydras attack from the back. HTs still storming, goons arriving at the back. Hyuk is rebuilding his force very quickly though
A lot of lings on the field, Stork unable to break the nat
Stork taking another expo after his 7 went down, he has a large protoss ball roaming around near Hyuk's nat. Stork trying Hyuk's nat once more, this time his zealots get right in there, Hatch goes down! Hyuk brings in his lings and lurkers, goons killing lurkers and zealots/archons take care of the lings. Stork's force has been greatly reduced to a few units though. More reinforcements coming for Stork! Shuttle too!
Shuttle drops 2 dts in the main. Meanwhile stork's army is atacking the nat Lot of drones dead. This looks very bad for hyuk
The way I see it it's not as if any other players from the Zerg line are saying "you must pick me". I don't blame Coach Park for trying Hyuk, particularly as he's shown some recent form in the OSL.

Second gate warping in for grape, his core starts spinning for that range upgrade machine shops being added to both factories. Marine/wall still denying that scout. Robo warping in for grape Meanwhile ssak has his first tank out.
both machineshops spinning, third gate added for grape. goons spot ssak moving out with his force, he has three tanks three marines and one vult
Grape going robo and Ssak going double machine shop upgrades. He has to do massive damage with this timing or else he is going to be ridicilously behind.
adun and observatory warping in, one goon dies to tank fire, second goon dies to mines.
ssak right outside grapes nat, pylon wall created to narrow the entrance More ssak units arriving. Mines hit some goons, none die. seige is finished, goons backing away to the nex pylon wall down, vultures move up. Observer out. vultures move behind mineral line to net some kills, probes run
Scv brought in to built a bunker, meanwhile ssak takes his nat
Errrm, Ssak please have made an eng bay.... Well if mines can hold it off Ssak is at a pretty good position. Toss is on one base, but DTs might do some damage
Nexus getting shelled, it goes down. Shuttle brought out but it's unsuccessful in getting any bomb drops. Starport up. DT dropped on tanks, one en route to ssak's base
Ssak withdrawing his forces as a dt kills a tank. grape regaining control of his nat. 1 dt dies to a mine. Nex being rebuilt at the nat, grape also taking that 12.5 expo
grape microing that dt, shuttle goes down to turret and the dt later dies to mines. grape getting his stargate up
Ehh at least those DTs gave him the map control to take that fast third to catch up. Grapes 3rd finished just as Ssaks started, so it seems pretty even now.
Probes being transfered now, ssak expanding to his 6.5, observer sees everything comsat being added as well as an armory. dropship out and loads up some tanks. arbiter tech incoming
dropship move up left side of the map, grape taking 12. DS drops between one of grapes expo and main
dragoons attacking ssak's third, tanks forced to run, buildings lifted. CC is on fire. meanwhile ssak's drop gets cleaned up. CC blows up midair, ssak losing his third
Dragoons advance into the main where there isn't much defense. Single tank defending, tank goes down! SCVs forced to fight.
fresh tanks arrive and seige up, forcing those goons to retreat. sci facility in the making goons roaming around the map. First arbiter out. grape preparing to take 11 grapes 12 is hit by a few vults, cannon goes down to vults and the probes run to the safety of another nearby expo
arbiter with some goons clear those vults and grape regains 12 Grape building a cannon at 5, ssak spots it though with his two vultures. ssak has retaken his third, he has a few tanks seiged around there
I don't think Ssak was ever really ahead. Take into account that Grape opened 12 Nex and got a decent amount of mining done/decent amount of probes built and remade the expo quite quickly vs a 2 Fac opening.

I just want to know how grape pulled himself in. I see tanks shelling his nat, go to finish some things, and come back 5 minutes later to see 1.5 control groups of goons in ssak's third taking down the CC? what happened in the middle?
Why doesnt ssak move up onto the plateau near the third? He could plant mines in front of the double bridge, maybe even put like a sci facility and rax there to make the bridge area an even smaller choke.

I think there were 2 tanks unsieged during that attack..
first vessel out, he has also made some goliaths. Vultures running around the map laying mines while dragoons are running around clearning them. Vults hit 12 yet again, probes run away, vultures hitting 12.5, probes run from there too ssak has some upgrades, 1-1 I think Stasis over the vessel! Massive stasis over tanks! wow grape moving in on ssak's third, overwhelming force!
beautiful stasis hahaha. Other than being too greedy and not cutting probes to get units for that 2fact, Grape actually played quite well. Well maybe sloppy defending vulture harass, but I've seen worse.
Honestly, Ssak just made a mistake in taking a third and deciding to drop when he was ahead. That's a pretty mediocre mistake, but he didn't really play THAT badly.

Yeah, agreed. I could've done with him winning, but this round is what being a fan is all about - rough times only make the good times that much sweeter.
Was their last game that rly epic one where Great was pressuring Bisu for large parts of the game before he pushed out and took down the 10'oclock? I can't remember the map, I can just remember the game being really back-and-forth and err great to watch.

Bisu once said losing your 12-nex wasn't bad if you managed to keep your probes alive since the Terran had to put a lot of resources into making units rather than pumping SCVs. If you can hold the attack and regain your nat afterward, you're pretty much still on equal footing with the Terran economic wise.

it was the same map they're playing on now, and Great was doing a lot of drops, Bisu made no goons

great harassed bisu like crazy last time they met. bisu defended everything calmly and managed to build up a large army and won it. it was hella intense thoughhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Those lurkers on the high ground must have been so frustrating for Bisu.
Nexus placed along with a cannon gateway goes down too, overlord finally reaches Bisu's nat Great takes his nat
Zerglings still chasing that probe around. Great morphing in that lair, meanwhile Bisu puts down his core.
Zerglings unable to catch that scouting probe. Stargate warping in at Bisu's nat Great is making more zergings, he also puts down a spire as soon as his lair is done. Bisu still with only one cannon, he has zealots out though Core is spinning
Second stargate placed at the main, Great lays down a hatch and a hydra den at his nat to create a wall
Robo warping in. First sair out and about doing it's scouting round. Another hatch added to Great's third. Forge is spinning Scourge out to deter any more sair harassment Bisu has 5 sairs out Cannon warping in at the main just in case
Bisu kills two ovies and Great's speed is done. He gets a third one and is scouting around for more while he starts his citadel.
shuttle out for bisu and a couple gates being added as well plus a bunch of cannons in the front, looks like great is saccing the air battle and going straight hydras.
bisu flies his shuttle over a ling which draws an attempted hydra bust but bisu pulled back scarab gets 4-5 drones bisu getting a lot of overlord kills
Reaver scarab deters hydras from attacking Bisu, meanwhile his sairs kill three overlords Shuttle has speed, its on it's way to Great's main, dud scarab fails to kill drones
Second scarab scores some drones! Hydras rushing back to base
Great has quite the large force of hydras, bisu is careful not to let his shuttle run into any Shuttle drops again at Great's third, kills some hydras
Lurkers dropped at Bisu's nat, lurkers preventing any mining there. Shuttle drops some lots there to clear out the lurkers. Looks like lurkers have upgrades, +1 weaps I think, too blurry No observer there, so Bisu's zealots are just getting hit by that one lurker.
Stream is back up, thanks Grobyc Bisu expanding to 4 Meanwhile Great still has a large force of hydras and he's morphing in more lurkers. Bisu has amassed his own force. Observers are scourged just as lurkers pop STORM! Lurkers are dying left and right, reavers are killing Hydras Bisu is rolling
I'm going to guess while the stream froze, Great attempted a drop and it got intercepted by the sairs. That's the only explanation I have for taht bigass army disappearing and Bisu's base looking relatively fine..
i found it very exceptional of bisu to be constantly in control with his corsairs. this really helped him so much. he opened corsair reaver, didn't lose the shuttle, negated the mutalisks threat and forced a lurker tech that he easily controlled with his reavers.

4 cannons+reavers+zlots I don't think so haha
Ah, but he had 2 cannon and 1 zealot and a new reaver in a shuttle when the first hydras arrived. He waiting but he should have at least pressed! Or at least made scourge-muta to weaken the sair mass
On December 21 2010 19:24 MountainDewJunkie wrote: Great might might might have had a chance had he chosen to bust the natural with his first two control groups of hydras.
Seemed to me like Bisu remembered their last game well - by dominating the air he ensured that Great couldn't harass him (almost) to death like he did last time.

I wondered when Canata was going to get wheeled out again in PL....
Coach Park you are almost predictable in your unpredictability! I've agreed with your desire to increase SKT's depth, but sometimes I think you take the piss.
lol epic fail by skt coach he expected turn so he sent canata to snipe turn but instead juni shows up, canata realizes juni is not a terran and ofcourse cant play standard cause he will fail so he proxy racks

But they do rely on their star players... hence the losing streak. Like the fallen Woongjin stars.
Relying on their stars would have meant sending out their very best players out each game. That is precisely what they're not doing. We're not seeing FBB + whoever is performing decently at the moment, in every match-up. They're giving all of their players a bit of the spotlight, results be damned.

Lings are finished, they wait at the nat, more lings pop Lings run in and surround the bunker, marines die and the scv legs it Factory finished, sunken placed at the nat. Vulture is out and is seen by the overlord
Vulture sits outside Juni's nat just out of the sunken's range
Overlord venturing into Canata's main, marines shooting it down, don't know if Juni got any useful info out of that
wraith kills an overlord, flies to the nat where it kills another Hatch and hydra den placed in the main, mutas and scourge pop and chase the wraith back Canata's main. Canata doing the muta dance around the base. Valk out, OH scourge almost nab the valk but it gets away. Mutas still dancing around the main.
Wraith heads back out to kill more overlords, pair of scourge crash into it though DS out for Canata, Juni adds 2 more sunkens at the nat

Yeah I was right, Canata fed his whole army for like two lurkers. Didn't even have anything at home, presumably because he wasn't macroing while doing that drop.
Canata's last Proleague appearance: December 1, 2010. He lost to Bogus. Canata is on 4 game losing streak versus Zerg: Great and Hyun provided it... + Show Spoiler +
...and kicked him from MSL and OSL respectively
He never played Juni before.
Juni has jaw-dropping 19.05% winning percentage against Terran. ZvZ and ZvP improve this record even more, to insane 37.50% ratio. At the moment, he is on the worst streak in his outrageous career. His last win: October 28, 2010 against Sun in MSL prelims.
I really wonder what the hell is wrong with SKT's coaching staff... You are 2-1 down and you send out frikking Canata? Paralyze is still a rookie, he started off strong, but is on a losing streak currently--don't want to wreck hopeful talent. s2 is slumping like no tomorrow ever since the pl playoffs, Fantasy has been so awful lately, Best is sick/playing poor, Kwanro has stopped in slumpville in round1 after a few good games and isn't moving out soon.

Best opting for observer tech Brave just starting his robo
Brave's nat is up and running, reaver tech added for Best Brace getting both observer and reaver tech at the same time, he adds a shield battery at his nat
Best's observer moving out, his forces not too far behind the obs
Best taking his nat now. His observer reachs brave's main Reaver finished for best and it's sitting at the nat Adun warping in for Brave. Best adding his third gate. Brave getting his adun also.
Temp archive and a few more gates added for Brave
Best has some units sitting in the middle of the map, best is able to fly his observer right through Brave's main
Best adding more gateways. No third yet for Brave, his probe just sits there
Both armies close by to each other, sitting on opposite ends of the ridge Brave sending a zealot in for info, then a HT, no storm, reaver gets off a shot but it's a dud
Armies engage Storms everywhere! Best with high ground, he also gets a reaver! Brave retreating slightly, brave loses his shuttle, reaver is stranded and killed off
Great play by Best - getting a total BO loss, not going for a suicide push, taking a later nexus, having balls to take 3rd earlier with leass army, abusing positional advantage of defending there and having great storms...his opponent just got really nervous and wanted to finish it fast, instead of double expanding or smth.

I think Brave hesitated too much with that attack ... also, what happened to the shuttle harass? I saw him load up stuff at some point, but I think it didn't really do damage. With BeSt out to defend his third, his natural would have been open I think.

Oh man, how big was that moment in the first battle when BeSt just saved his 2 reavers in his shuttle? He was caught out of position with those reavers and almost paid the price.
Good to see BeSt getting back to winning ways against a PvP sniper.

I agree mate. Fantasy has delivered too many times in Ace matches to be labelled a choker. His 25% randomness is just part of his make-up it would seem - shame really as he'd be a really consistently strong player w/o those moments.
nice play, I guess the map was quite Best-favored?
I mean you can hide behind the ridges and just macro up assumed you are the one controlling them with your main army thats what Best did, combined with Brave's bad attack/overreaction it won him the game

I vaguely expect proxy factory into valkonic into bio-backtech for a 6-rax timing push or something
Fantasy building his own rax in his main. turn training some marines. Meanwhile Fantasy takes his nat. Turn finds fantasy.
Marines on the move! Marines at the nat, snipe the scv building the cc.
Unfinished CC is under fire now. Fantasy pulling a lot of scvs! Fantasy losing quite a few scvs Bunker is up but the marine can't get in, Turn is killing more scvs, fantasy's marines fall back!
He loses his marines, turn is in control for now AHHHHHHHHH Marine tries a run by but is killed off Factory coming up for Turn
marines finally cleared out the of the nat, but a vulture arrives now. Vult kills the scv building the CC, Cc finishes just in time. Main is blocked off by a rax Fantasy getting his own factory. another vult comes by to harass the nat mineral line. Meanwhile Turn has taken his own nat. Vulture snipes a marine
Fantasy gets his own vulture and destroys turn's Turn has added another factory. Tank is on it's way to Fanta's nat, Turn is really putting the pressure on
Fanta adding his second fact just now, his vult out to get some scouting info but it denied by tanks
Fantasy with 1 tank, vs 4 of Turn's, tank sniped! Fantasy in a really bad position
Wraith out for Turn, Scvs pulled to defend against tanks as the bunker falls Seige done for fanta, but it's no good, turn has too many tanks, second tank falls for fanta

Lol, how quickly a 12-game win streak gets forgotten. He just took a risk today and ran into some cheese. It happens.

anyways I am starting to love TurN more and more. I seriously love the aggressiveness he had throughout the game...he outplayed fantasy in every aspect. It sort of reminds me again of the TurN who went 7-0 during Round 1 :D (he wasn't looking good during his loss streak)
SKT has strongest Protoss line this season and coach keeps sending players like slumping Fanta, Hyuk, Canata or any slumping Zerg but Kwanro. Cheez and now he wonders how his team turned from BEST to WORST?

They need to stop sending Hyuk and Canata and actually use some of the solid players in their lineup. Fantasy will probably get the blame for this loss, but it's really the coaches who fucked this one up. Sending ssak/Hyuk/Canata in the first 4 games is asking for trouble. And where the hell is Kwanro?

I know you really like Fantasy and all, but his play as of late has been unacceptable. ESPECIALLY that horrid game vs Xellos. I don't know whats going on in Fantasy's head, but he just really needs to get it in order or undergo some special training, just like Bisu

i dont see why not.
There really wasn't much Fantasy could do given the initial build-orders. Turn had to fuck up his micro to lose it, which he didn't do. Perhaps you could call that outplaying, ,but I dunno

when your proxy rax secures you the modest advantage of having 5 tanks out before your opponent has their first quality of play doesn't really come into it.
fantasy was pushing uphill the whole game, turn transitioned and played well to walk his advantage home.

Meh...not sure. The loss vs Modesty was partially due to map/position imbalance. Todays loss was largely due to BO's. I agree the games vs Violet/Movie/Xellos were garbage, but Fantasy can be a streaky player in general and epic fuckups are part of his game.
Perhaps he should take a week off or something though. Couldn't hurt
fantasy you need to stop losing in the first 4 minutes*
in the 3 games out of the 5 i've seen of this losing streak he's been on the brink of death before even getting his expo up this last one being a bo loss though i guess.

Oh you shush, it's not nearly THAT bleak. I mean, Oz can't even win 2 games in any given match. You're still at the top of the standings. Or... tied with Hite if they beat Woongjin tonight and they will Now is not the time for panicking.

Why is that? He hasn't been doing great, but he is still 4-6 in his last 10PL games with losses coming from good competition. Hyuk on the other hand has been losing 90%+ recently, yet he still gets played and appearantly doesn't need 'special training'

Dunno, they stated it in some past interview, I'll see if I can find it. And Hyuk's ZvP seems decent at the very least, whereas I thought Kwanro had some major problems in his play (ala game gets past 8 minutes he loses lol)

Fantasy wasnt outplayed, he just went against a very tough BO disadvantage. The fact that he was able to put a bunker up meant he had a chance to stabilize; it was only that Turn made successful use of vultures to harass and then tanks to end the game. I dont see why he should be considered in a slump, when he's been tearing up shit lately and his misfortunes come from his team trolling in their lineups.
But yeah, good to see Khan win! With Stork showing strong results in his "bad" matchup. KHAN fighting! ^^

Oh why SKT had to lose this. I haven't seen the games yet but Canata probably sucked all the way when he got beaten by Juni and Fantasy probably pulled another bullshit card out his sleeve. No need to be sarcastic. Fantasy's GG timing has never been as bad as it is vs. Xellos. It's a good thing that you don't type out when you still have a chance. But that game against Xellos was just plain denial. "lol my main gets destroyed, my opponent has complete control of the game, but since he hasn't played any starcraft for months I'm going to camp in my isolated hidden expansions and build starports to win" @Phillippines guy: If you're too blind to see, Flash's gg timing is among the best. That game was irredeemable, because he lost (almost) all his SCVs, and his main was mined out soon to be followed by his nat. He also lost all means to contest in air superiority.

Let me put it like this; I can easily think of several occasions where Fantasy has been BM'd because he has horrible gg timing (CC's by Xellos, Ultra consume by Soulkey, Scout recall by Free).
I don't get it either, KT players are typically pretty reasonable with their GGs. Fantasy is the worst player about not GGing when the game is obviously over, plain and simple. Not an SKT thing, though. Best Bisu Hyuk et all tend to GG. Fantasy just seems to be in complete shock whenever what he was trying to do doesn't work.

Fantasy went for a greedy build despite technically being the superior player. He gambled for early game advantage rather than going for solid mid-game play. Plus, when he saw the marines, he did not try to turtle up and accept a slight but noticeable BO disadvantage. Which one knows that in TvTs, aren't always fatal given the nature of the matchup. Instead he tried to compete in marine micro and failed horribly.
The stupidest thing is that Fantasy did the above two things despite knowing that his marine control sucks ass. While his mid-late game TvT is much better. Hence his BO loss is mostly on him and not luck.

And why are you kids bringing up Flash/KT or whatever? Quickly, mention three examples of Flash getting BM'd with an in-game ceremony due to gg timing!
Listen to Free's interview after playing Fantasy:
''At first, I had no intention of doing anything like that but he went too far not typing in "GG".''
This has nothing to do with me being a fan of another player/team, Fantasy is objectively speaking one of the absolutely worst when it comes to this.

To be fair, Free uses scouts to BM in most of his games. But yes, Fantasy does have bad gg timing. Although perhaps it's because he often thinks he can still pull off a come back despite being badly behind.

To be honest, I'm not sure whether Bisu or Stork belongs at #3. I suppose time will tell, but they are really close and a fair(but not insurmountable) distance from all the others. Fantasy fell down to #7 under TBLS(redverse order) Shine and Light. Also, I wouldn't mention Flash gg timing because in most games he's gonna lose, I think, "is he gonna turtle his way back into this?" And about 20% of the time the answer is yes. And in all honesty, he often ggs when he has nothing left to do rather than when he's about to get destroyed. He gg'd vs ssak while he had a tank line because he had no means of reinforcing his 3rd and he was starved out, while Ssak could pretty much do anything. If he had waited another 5-10 minutes for Ssak to break his tank line, that would be both BM-worthy and bad gg timing.
Fantasy has been slumping pretty hard, and it's been bad decision-making costing him a lot of his games =( at this rate I think he'll fall to Hydra in the OSL today
1. Bisu 2. Best 3. Bisu's hair 4. Best's abs 7. 1, 3, and 4 will win no matter what, so SKT can just Hyuk the next three and have Bisu play the ace match if it comes to that.
Stork and KHAN make me happy :D. Although damn my liquibet has been taking a hit lately because I keep thinking SKT will pull out of it ... But I can't be sad for long because of STORKUUU!!!!!!!

not to mention jaedong fantasy semi finals where fantasy got 4pooled. fantasy lost scvs, no marines and only 194~ minerals, does he think he can still win?
