Why so early? Didn't tuesdays' matches use to be 18.00 KST? I was so looking forward to this, but 6.00 in the morning is too steep for me. Darn At least I'll be watching STX vs Ace.
Obviously OZ doesn't stand a chance, but at least make KT fight for it.
Stats > Lomo Action < Jaedong fOrGG > Hiya Violet > Killer Flash < Backho Hoejja < some random Oz player that nobody's heard of Flash < Jaedong via 4 pool
Is somewhat reliant on set 5 going to plan, but it can happen
Man, people have been ragging on jaedong-oz for a while. But with this new format, combined with all the moving of player, oz has fallen really far in the totem pole. Friggin hite and cj merging and woojin getting really and flying. The quality of the average pl team has skyrocketed. Even kt and skt got action and kwanro. while oz's notoriously swallow team has stayed the same...i'm just so sad for oz. At least there's winners league..right? right? oh well. mbc and wemade-two teams that i thought were pretty strong are also going to be hurting.
Trying to think of a way for oz to win... sky<flash lomo<stats Jaedong>action hiya>violet Backho>forgg killer>hoejja
And even with that the bottom three games are by no means locks. Oz needs a combination of lucky placement of players and a team playing above their adverage ability.

Oz and Khan are in the bottom since they are both lacking a lot in depth. I think Khan might actually be worse off than Oz due to this change. MBC and WeMade at least have some decent performers (usually) and while the bo7 change does hurt them, over the course of the rounds they should still end in the middle somewhere.
On the bright side, since the bo7 change requires teams to bring out their lesser frequent players, its very likely that those players will show good improvement over the course of the year, as opposed to mainly helping the main players practice in the team houses. It will be good to have some new blood (as far as the spectators are concerned) over the more expected lineups we have gotten used to. Additionally, this also makes it harder for teams to purposely try to 'snipe' a player on the opposing team since now the map/player pool has expanded.
Oz is really really hurting after the new Bo7 format.
Jaedong should be able to take a game (unless Flash comes out and then it's anyones guess. Likely would end up being a really good game regardless), but after that the only player I can see taking a game is HiyA.
It's a shame that Oz wasn't able to pick up any (good) players from the draft. :/

It's bad publicity for the company to have a team that is as bad as Oz is right now, comparatively. Leta was a free agent this contracting season, why the hell didn't they recruit him? Would've made a world of difference for the team. . . (Thankfully Leta is chillin in the CJ barracks next to Skyhigh, working on a hundred ways to roll Flash when Hite Entus meets KT). Either Oz gets its stuff back together or Jaedong should switch to whoever wants him. He's been a free agent two seasons in a row now. Wonder why he never makes the switch.
also whoa this is like 5 hours before the MBC streamed match (ace vs stx)... darn bw is getting pushed out of prime time when it's not a marquee matchup
I think kespa was smart to have KT play SKT and Oz this first week :O

I imagine the fact they weren't able to go after Leta is attributed to money. JD has a pretty hefty contract, and then you add in the other players' contracts, there's probably not much room to add a player of Leta's caliber since he would want a decent contract as well.
OZ will take this. Im not sure how, but i dont doubt some hilarity will be part of it.
Edit: Actually, beside the given wins of Flash and Jaedong (who could drop a zvz, but neither action or hoejja have what it takes), I think its quite likely that Hiya wins his game unless he gets action, whom he might tackle down with some early agression. Lomo has a fair chance against Hoejja and might be able to out perform Stats with something unexpected.
4-1 or 4-2 for KT with JD and maybe Hiya winning as well depending on who he gets matched up with.
hmm if JD got matched with Flash i'd predict Flash to win..
anyway, i was a fan of Oz when Anytime was still there ruling the proleague.. god anyone remember LECAF vs samsung..... and anytime edging out stork on katrina i think

I don't know about that. BW seems more alive than ever in some aspects. The games are superb, the new format livens stuff up for new players, and the new maps seem awesome. We can do what fans can do best: cheer and infect others with our enthusiasm. That's what got BW truly great in the first place. Also, we have quality on our side. Even the most epic and awesome games of the GSL can't yet hold a candle to the games we have seen so far. A lot of people are simply missing out from where I stand.

WOW nice timing by killer. Ultras out, eats the rest of the mnm that weren't plagued and owned by the sunkens. Holy shit. ultra guardian raping ass. Scourge just owned all the vessels too.
Killer getting outplayed now. His swarms are too late for ultras, though he's managing to keep forgg down in units enough that he can't win out right, but he's not able to muster a large enough ultra/ling force to completely take map control.
wow lol. oz will struggle to place above ace with this new format. the bad thing is.... killer is like their 3rd or 4th best player, and they need to field 6 each game.
That game made no sense. ForGG sat around with his army past any conceivable timing window, then Killer took four gas uncontested and...sat around too. I was waiting for the lurker/swarm bust into the natural, but then he let ForGG take three more bases, and then ultraling with no swarm and guardians blowing up and battlecruisers....
For people who can't watch the stream and only read the thread, this game has been filled with wtf moments every single minute. wtf devourers ?! wtf plague himself ?! ee han timing for ultras that rapes forgg's ball, 4 bases Z vs 2 bases T few minutes later, 5 bases T vs 3 bases zerg battlecruisers ?!
I'll definitely watch this game when back from work, just for the lulz. And thanks guys for reporting !
It's more that Action can't control his units. That's the problem with action, he tries really complicated strategies that have super delicate timings and then loses to a lot of stuff. I love his builds but he can't really execute them.
Sky ggs. Still pretty disappointed in Action's play. He lost so many units due to sloppy play, and never really micro'd his army, took so many unnecessary losses.
lol pretty good game, action did well to get back into the game after losing a billion ovies and drones but hyo or whatever his name is also got too many goons and could've been a bit more defensive maybe.
I'm a huge, huge fan of stats but he's up against the best ZvPer in the world. Stats does have a chance if he plays his absolute best though, his PvZ can be jawdroppingly good.

I actually hope Flash doesn't play today; he looked exhausted in the series against SKT. I hope Anyppi/Tempest can have some game time, KT still has Violet to wrap things up.
Stats is getting there. Remember his first series against JD? He practically embarrassed himself. Compare it to this game where it was pretty close. If BW continues for another year I can't see Stats letting up unless he pulls a Baby on everyone.

There are no Starleagues or anything going on, I don't see why he would be so tired that he couldn't play in PL.

Agreed. Could have harassed better too. 2 drone kills is a bad return on 2 dts. Faster reaction time on defending will also help his game a lot. Though that was some top notch corsair control defense against the mutas.

While there isn't a lot going on, it's still possible he's tired. Hell, even if he weren't tired I'd say to let everyone else on KT have a go; Oz is practically the one team this season that they shouldn't have any problem with, even if they send their B-teamers for all 6 matches. And while he may prefer to feel that he won it for his team, I'm sure he'd also love to see that "hey, my team isn't so worthless without me" unlike poor Jaedong is probably feeling right about now.

Well he looked out of sorts and his play against Best was... sub par. Perhaps burnout from his previous exertions?

Flash tired? Come on, he only played best. And Violet rapping things up?! Violet should be tired! He was the one that played Canata, not Flash. Come on. =.=
TvT is such a hard matchup to understand but whenever I see flash play my mind is blown. Perfect positioning, mass expos and at the same time producing just enough units to hold then just outmacro outmicro outeverything.

yeah...I know.
a company can't scrape together 50k US? get flying/classic. Oz's got all rags
Doesn't work that way. The company has money but their allocation to the proteam is very limited. Most of the money goes to maintaining the progaming house and paying their ace players.

at least we were serviceable last season in r2 and r3 and only needed 1 non-jaedong win to bring it to ace usually. and having hite sparkyz around to beat up on every round was helpful.
Another nice recall in Lomo's main, doing good econ damage.
Lomo attempts to push out with tanks, but gets pushed back by lots of goon/zealots. The tanks all get stormed as they are huddled together on the bridge.
Violet took 5 bases without as much as a vulture harass. Hard to say the win could've gone any other way. Unless the patented Destroy-three-bases-and-contain-the-natural-like-Flash is being used. That one rarely fails.

Actually, a failed vulture harass (Lomo lost a dozen vultures for a half-dozen probes) is the reason Violet had such an easy time taking 5 bases.

Good thing abt Oz being so bad is fewer ace matches for JD to play, more time to rest.
I'm sure he'd rather play ace matches than lose 2-4 or 1-4 every time...
He probably didn't enjoy Killer's ace match streak at all. Jaedong hates losing too, he probably is pretty annoyed about this, especially when Oz could've taken 2 of those games that they lost.

That match was the worst execution of three gate expand I've ever seen, countered and dominated by 2 gate goon --> DT. Perfectman defeated Tempest's army at Tempest's natural, before his DTs arrived.

?? PvT has always favored Terran. Even with the Terran bonjwas, their TvZ was always far stronger than their TvP. People seem to forget how underwhelming Boxer's TvP was. That and the 2007-2008 season was a horrendous for Terran players vs Protoss, more than ZvP imba season or last year's TvZ imba
Unplayed games will be given a random rating to avoid spoiling how many sets were played.
This is very confusing, so how do we know which ratings referred to the real games?
Well, presumably the played games are the ones where the ratings are real. If there were five games played then ratings for 1 2 3 4 5 are real and 6 and 7 are not. This is about as straightforward as it gets, how do you find it confusing?

... I can't stand statements like this. The new players are improving and the experience they are getting is invaluable. And from what we saw this game, Oz is still competitive. It's been a bloody week. Give it a rest.
Firstly Killer's decision making is very strange, he had a tendancy to only go for small engagements and attack at inappropriate times. I realize guards make sense on that map defensively but if he waited and macro'd up enough ultra/ling he could have won fairly quickly. Then he slowly got further and further behind with small engagements he couldn't win. On the plus side his swarm/plague usage seems amazing and i love his use of just small groups to go out and cast spells on the T ball with. That and his vessel sniping looked JD esque at times. Definitely potential there for sure.
Sky[Kal] I was also impressed with despite his loss, through midgame he was constantly using some clever ideas that a lesser zerg would have fallen apart immediately too... the DT drop in main to make Action maynard into storm at natural was genius. Pulled off some great storms just when needed, good army control. Unfortunately protoss immobility really messed him up. I think maybe sair/reaver would be more suited to him so he could ignore his expos more and focus on his clever harassment. Real shame he had Action but seeing a toss PvZ like that gives me some hope at least.
Jaedong well, was Jaedong. After a bad early game muta/scourge attack on the main underestimating the number of sairs, he remained on the defensive for a long time. Yet still Stats never even looked close to controlling the game. His map awareness, crazy drop defense, insane defiler usage (how many plagues went off this game?) and huge amount of lings looked like he was just playing with Stats until he eventually decided to build a control group of ultras and win. Normally a Protoss ball macroing from so many bases is supposed to be feared, here it didn't even look close to scary. Also of note is the same tactic as killer of using small ling/defiler groups solely to pull off good plagues. After early game i thought he might be getting a bit sloppy but he's looking sharper than ever imo.

To be honest, eSTRO is the one team that really looked like it would be disbanded eventually(until hite was gutted). They never really made it far, ever, mostly because of awful management. But Oz has suffered through worse, and then they got Jaedong. There's no reason they can't raise another ace, Hiya looks like he's improving and Lomo might still have his skill from before somewhere. Wut?? Game 4: Hiya pulled his scv's from gas to build mass vultures, then he attacked into Flash's strongest position, and didnt plant a single mine near flash's tanks... It was very bad play from Hiya in my opinion but w/e... I wouldn't recommend that game-.-
It was more of brilliant play from Flash IMO, he secured the position on the ridge first and by the time Hiya's vultures got there they were funneled and took massive damage from the sieged tanks which long had sight of Hiya's forces due to marines/floating rax (IIRC). By the time the vultures got to the tanks Flash had already reinforced and Flash would have held the position anyway. Flash was one step ahead the whole time.
Masterful display in my opinion, though it was quite one-sided. Nonetheless, I found it entertaining and the duration of the game just right. If people don't mind one-sided games I don't see why game 4 shouldn't be recommended.
