No, MBC's not being dumb. Rather, they are respecting the players. so if any other player would request their games not being shown, whether they were some scrub or an unpopular player, would mbc respect their request? i don't think so. as much as people love boxer this is clear favoritism that doesn't deserve to be in e-sports.
