It all goes to the context of the game- In hindsight we might say that the call to give the the game to Jaedong was a bit more reasonable, but at the moment I, (and probably most people) were completely sure they were going to replay the set after such a back-and-forth game ended so suddenly in the middle of the most important battle. If the blackout occurred a few minutes earlier you mongoloids would have probably been fine with kespa giving the game free to Flash
If you seriously think that it would have been unfair to replay the game then you obviously weren't there to see how unbelievably completely unfair it was to all the viewers to see jaedong given a game on a technicality because of a studio fuck up, and how completely unfair it was to delay the next game for fucking hours
At the end of the night there were only 3 games completed and all of them were short, utterly forgettable, one-sided slaughters. It was a shitty night to stay up and watch starcraft, and should be remembered as the worst finals ever
I watched it live.
I remember thinking, "Oh damn Jaedong just held 7 oclock. He just won the game! I wonder how long it will take for Flash to gg." Then shortly after, black screen.

The chance of JD losing "in a better position" is still there. I think any argument other than facts (# of working bases, worker saturation, specific unit counts, positioning of units, tech, even map statistics) sucks.

Come on, exaggeration doesn't help prove your point.

Is there a video on youtube showing the commotion caused after the disconnect? I want to see what the KT team does and how everyone reacts and stuff. The vod just shows that lady announcing JD's win.

I would wager the scene happened backstage where TV/VODs wouldn't be able to broadcast it. Maybe the news of the scuffle was reported rather than shown. However, since I watched the VODs rather than watched it live, I couldn't really say.

3base 2gas vs 5base 6gas. Taking out depleted bases, 2base 1gas vs 5base 5gas. Take out almost depleted bases, 1base 0gas vs 3/4base 4gas.
Pretty much no way Flash can win.

a rematch is unfair to jeadong, a win is unfair to flash. the call was made, the game was epic. flash lost the first game, barly won the 2nd, lost the 4th count it 2-1 if u want. jaedong won

+ Show Spoiler + Watch the game... Their graphic timer stops at 6:00... MBC fails so much...

Just watched the vods.............most depressing shit ever. I love Jaedong, but this was really fucked up T_T MBC really dropped the ball hard on this. First with the shitty studio and crappy arena, then the virtual studio, then the black out. Wow....................I don't even know what to do right now. I want to rage but I'm sad.
Fuck.

Whoever organized this MSL has failed in my opinion on several counts.
1) The space station. Where is the booth in front of a live audience? I love the booth and the live audience. That stupid space station studio brought back memories of Grrr vs HOT-Forever in what I believe was the OSL 2000 finals... pretty stupid in my opinion. I don't give a damn about a space station... I give a damn about fierce competition, passionate fans, great commentary, and high energy atmosphere.
2) The performance before the match. Kara at OSL 2009 was great. Now I don't mean to bash the lady and her group of performers but it was not really the right type of performance for before such an epic starcraft finals.
3) Audience members must be from the fanclub. I don't know if this is a rumor but this I thought this was kind of dumb too. Can you imagine a big finals in wimbledon (or perhaps a smaller venue for fair comparison) and say to the fans, "sorry you must be part of the fan club". If e-sports is about entertainment and delivering the competitive energy to the audience then the seats should be given to people who manage to buy tickets. This is an e-sporting event not a cult. Maybe some people are busy with other things in life and don't happen to be on the fan club. Do these people care less? Not necessarily. They just don't happen to be a part of the fan club. I don't think it's fair to restrict them from attendance.
4) Power outage. This one is short and simple. Some said they should have used batteries. Not a bad idea. Whatever they use, it's so pathetic that they hadn't a backup plan for a power outage. This to me is the equivalent of having a wimbledon match getting rained on but no tarps are on hand so the rest of the match is played out on a soggy grass court. So much is riding on the electrical signals in the computer game... surely they must know to have a failsafe backup system.
edit: No matter the decision on game 3, the experience was screwed as soon as the game was lost. In my opinion the show is as much a show of competition and entertainment as it is showing who the better player is. That's why chess is not a great sport.
I actually feel embarassed for whoever organized this MSL because as some other people here have said, they had the chance to host one of the most epic finals in starcraft history and they could not deliver a good show. Not even close in my opinion. Supposing the blackout didn't happen, the other points still detract from the experience. Only because the two players were so strong would some awe inspiring experience have been salvaged.

Pretty much no way Flash can win. You say it as if JD already had 5 bases and 6 gas 100% operational and fully secured.
Flash was not at 0 gas. -_-

Everyone is overlooking the fact that JD completely outdid flash as far as builds go and won the mind-fuck battle by having the BO win in ALL FOUR GAMES. His preperation for this game clearly showed, and proved again he is the best bo5 player ever.

I'm not a flash fan, so I'm not devastated by this outcome. But I am so disappointed. The first three games were so incredible and because of poor preparation now the whole event is diminished. Game four sucked and in my opinion Flash was shaken by everything that happened and the fans were cheated out of an awesome game four and maybe game five.
|
Hugely disappointing, obviously. Power Outage for bonjwa.
That said, I don't think Kespa's decision was right. Oh, it was fair - Jaedong was clearly at a pretty insurmountable advantage, barring some terrible play he'd shown no indication of being capable of - but that doesn't make it the right decision. To award a win in the grand finals for any reason makes little sense, and to do it without talking to the players first is pure stupidity. I would stand by nearly any decision from Kespa if they'd asked Flash and Jaedong what they thought and come to an agreement with them, with or without coaches present (but no parents please). But what they did was a horribly thought out decision that can only have some pretty terrible consequences. I'm honestly pretty surprised that Flash stayed for the fourth game.
|
flash doesn't get shaken. you don't get to his position and 8rax because your mad. he wanted early pressure and paid the price when jaedong 9pooled. jaedong played it safe. he played it safe the 1st game 12pooling too. don't try and take away jaedongs preparation/smart play and say, kespa made flash lose game4.
|
so we have an agreement?? after the clearing the 3 rd set can we agree jaedong in rage is the best player in the world?? yes u cant catch him off guard but when in rage he'll win anyone and anything i bet his rage aura took out the power as well lol anyway great games too bad the power cut will be the memory for most guys for me it wont

you want to elaborate on that or...
talking to the players and coaches? like a flag is thrown in the nfl and the refs huddle up with both teams and try to come to an agreement? the whole concept is the refs are impartial. draw is unfair to jaedong, win is unfair to flash..so we'll go with the most fairest of them all and bite the bullet. hence their job

I think its hilarious that there are 10 threads at least discussing the same thing.
I counted more than 10 anyway.

it's not really kespa's fault. I think they made the best decision possible. If it has to be SOMEONEs fault I would have to say it's MBC's for doing the magic studio thing and not being adequately prepared for such an event. But ultimately I don't think ANYONE could of POSSIBLY seen this coming. It's just an utter shame and disappointment but there really wasnt much that could of been done. We just all have to pray that the two will meet again soon in a Bo5.
