NSL #1 Qualifier Round Rules/Date/Format:
+ Show Spoiler +
Date: January 21, 2010 OR January 22, 2010 (determined by preferred dates from application)
Time: Starting at 8:00 PM EST (5:00 PM PST)
Where: Iccup channel "op NSL"
Total Number of Players: 72 Players
Total Number Advancing to Ro36: Exactly 36 Players
Maps:
First Phase (Bo1): Match Point
Second Phase (3 way Round Robin): Destination
Third Phase (optional 3 way FFA - Bo1): Neomedusa
Fourth Phase (optional #2 vs #3 on top 3 - Bo1): Lost Temple (dead serious)
Final Phase (#3 from top 3 vs #1 from bottom 3 - Bo1): Heartbreak Ridge
Format (now the big guns!):
In order to create a fair and fun environment from the very start of the league within this bloody qualifiers, my staff team and I was able to formulate an unique system in order to advance into the Round of 36 which is the next round. First off, as this is the first NSL ever, the overall format for NSL is the OSL style where in the Ro36, you end up with "12 seeds" of Ro36 which are fought off in Ro24. Therefore, after a few hours of trial and error, combining equations and using engineering skills, I present to you the answer to all questions regarding the format:
In an assumption of 72 players, there will be 12 groups of 6 players. Each group will have 6 players where the first step will be a Bo1 separating the top 3 from the bottom 3. Then the fun starts there...
[Note: ONLY 3 PLAYERS WILL ADVANCE FROM EACH GROUP NO MATTER WHAT!!]
The top 3 AND the bottom 3 will then go into a 3 way "round robin" battle. Starting from the top 3, the first place or #1 of the top 3 in this second phase will automatically ascend and advance to the Ro36 along with the RO36 SEED. They will obtain this automatically by showing superiority over all the other 5 players in their group by advancing first.
The second place or #2 of the top 3 will also automatically advance to the Ro36 but without the Seed given, meaning that they will have to fight off an opponent before the Ro36 Seed player in order to make it to the next step; which is the Group Selections/Ro16. They advance but they will have to play an extra opponent during the Ro36 stage.
The third place or the #3 of the top 3 will be dropped down and await for his/her second and final chance to advance out of the group as the bottom 3 that lost in the initial Bo1 match at the start will have a round robin battle as mentioned. The winner of this "bottom round robin" will then advance up to face in the final battle against the third place player of the top 3. So thus, the initial losing player may have a second chance to advance out of this qualifier round alive. Both players will start face will in one final epic Bo1 battle to decide final candidate. Winner of this last battle will advance to the final spot of Ro36 stage.
[FAQ: What if the round robin results into a 3 way tie?!?]
In an event like this (as we have also put this into our plans), an optional Bo1 special 3-way FFA tie-breaker match will occur that will take place on either the top 3 or the bottom 3 round robin. In the case of the bottom 3, only the winner of these 3 players will advance to the final battle against the #3 player of the top 3.
However, in the case of the top 3 players tie, the winner of the FFA will announce itself as #1 of the top 3 and follows the rules above by advancing to the Ro36 with a seed. The 2 remaining players of the top 3 will have a special Bo1 match to settle things of who is #2 and #3 of their small group to respectively part ways as according to the rules above; where #2 advances with no seed, #3 faces off the winner of bottom 3.

QuickStriker's NSL #1 Qualifier Round Recommendation Analysis:
O-ops' NSL #1 Qualifier Round Recommendation Analysis:
On the Qualifier Round map pool, the third and fourth phase is OPTIONAL and only happens if certain conditions occurs.... so basically I'd say everyone should be focusing on practicing on the 2 maps as their TOP priority:
1. Match Point (VERY important since this will determine if you have a big chance shot to be a seed or easier chance to move on Ro36 while losers have to struggle very heavily!!!
2. Destination (Definitely important since you're playing a total of 2 games on this map and it determines your standing of survival on these games as well.)
Then afterwards, I would recommend practicing for Heartbreak Ridge as that is if you fail during the top 3 or succeed in the bottom 3 and it's the final thing that prevents you from advancing...
Neomedusa and Lost Temple isn't really important especially to the winner side but if you're on the loser side.... it's a definite win to make. But I wouldn't spend much time at all on these maps, but rather focus on the 2 maps and maybe HBR as well.
If I have to give a percentage of how a "recommended" practice of maps for the QR, it would be as follows:
Match Point - 40%
Destination - 40%
HBR - 18%
Neomedusa - 1.999%
LT - 0.001%
That's my recommendation for everyone! So gl and hope you find your suitable practice and focus on the maps for next week!

Yeah, that's why I said select replays - if people have an interesting/good game, maybe you could put a notice in the OP that they can PM the replay to me? That would be cool, as I'm sure most of these games won't be notable or interesting.

Also, be sure to e-mail all the reps of your games to the following e-mail address noted on first post. You don't need to e-mail multiple copies or like the same one between the match of 2 players. Just one from either of you is good enough for example. Or in round robin, there should be 3 reps (b/c it's 3 games altogether). Etc.
