If they're going to lock half the pool of players into place they might as well go all the way, eliminate the group selection ceremonies, and do the groups entirely by previous MSL appearances/success. This ceremony is pointless if there's no drama of the big names exchanging smack talk when they move each other into & out of their groups.

Right now who is the most controversial character that isn't locked in a group? Hyuk? He's done a bit of smack talk. But seriously I don't see how anything interesting will come of the steal draft unless someone comes out of nowhere like (Z)maGma did.

Anyways, I'm sure this will probably make for more interesting tournaments as a whole, instead of having the one or two all T, all Z or mostly P groups, there should be a fairly even mix and late round play will be more interesting in general.

Only a quarter of the pool is "locked" - seeds 1-8. 9-16 are placed in groups, but not locked into them. For instance, Bisu is stuck in Group F (can't move himself out of it, but he can trade two people out of it), but sAviOr is NOT stuck in Group F in that he can trade himself out of it.

So we are guaranteed a (Z)sAviOr v. (P)Bisu and (Z)EffOrt v. (P)JangBi? I kind of like the new format, though there is less meaningful Freedom. As a (Z)July fan, yes he has to play Jaedong, but of the remaining 16 players there aren't many I fear him playing.

Well, we are still practically guaranteed savior vs bisu, considering both are in decent enough form that they can be expected to win.

so MBC just ignored the whole 1-8, then 9-16 in reverse group order (1 + 16, 2 + 15, 3 + 14, etc)?

This is what I'm wondering too, how were the 9-16 players' groups determined?
It's supposed to be automatic but actually you have to press this button.

And it'd be pretty one sided atm anyway.
MSL, 2003-2011, RIP. OSL, 2000-2012, RIP. Proleague, 2003-2012, RIP. And then there was none... Even good things must come to an end.

I'm looking forward to the matchups in the MSL moreso than the OSL right now. Then again there are only 16 people in the OSL at the moment, so.........

Movie v Hyuk finals?

It should be that you can move someone from 9-16 rank, but only with another player in that range. would at least make the selection a little more interesting.

Nah, Bisu would unleash the Bisu Build #2.

...where the "2" stands for 2-gate, and then pray.
May the BeSt man win.
