I've experimented with making Zerg inspired music. WTH is Zerg music? Not music from zerg sounds but music with particular beats or sounds every x seconds consistant with larva spawn times. So say approximately every 15seconds for a few seconds the music would change to denote its time to macro with my hatcheries. Enough time to 5s?,6s?,7s?,8s?,9s?,0s? and then the music goes back to normal. The beats between those time would be in tune with what APM i'm trying to achieve next. I.e. after removing the macro actions per minute I can get a figure of how many beats to have in the inbetween macro periods. Pros can do 400+ apm. I'm only a 50->150 apm player so I don't need many beats to make a piece of 100apm music. But it doesn't sound very interesting at all. But it might be useful for teaching the mind to remember to macro and do more actions. Jury is out though as I also feel any music with tonnes of different changing notes is good too like fast trance or something. Music can surely have an effect, I think when you get to Jaedong levels your apm and stuff is ingrained in your system and then music is more of a distraction then anything else.

Black metal (e.g. Darkthrone, Burzum) is good because you play in time with the inordinately fast drumming and the grim atmosphere works well as a Zerg player. I also use southern hip-hop (e.g. UGK, Three 6 Mafia) because of the attitude adjustment it provides.

Just que up your favorite albums and artists and then listen to it for a while.or, what u can do is just use pandora or last.fm to help u out and create a playlist.

my apm is actually higher without music, which feels kinda strange, but playing with music is still more fun.
