DAUM PotPlayer English Translations
+ Show Spoiler [reasoning/disclaimer] +
Someone PMed me a week ago requesting English translations for DAUM PotPlayer, so I decided to give it a try. Because of our limited text formating, I couldn't make the text files look good, and realizing I was almost at 1500 posts, I spent a few extra days making images of most of the PotPlayer menus in English. I don't understand Korean, so I apologize for any inaccuracies, but using online translators, dictionaries, and just messing around with the options I think I got it 99% accurate. If you have any corrections please feel free to post them here or PM them to me, as I still have the Korean and English text files I made as well as each English line as a Photoshop layer, so I can easily correct anything.
Also feel free to let me know if you'll actually use this, or if it's just for the one person who requested it. I personally never used PotPlayer because it is too laggy for live games through my ISP and takes too long to load files, but now I may use it for my default player now that I know all the settings and like how it handles files. Also feel free to insult me for wasting a week of my free time if you won't use it or if there already was an English translation somewhere.
I didn't finish everything yet, because in some cases submenus lead to submenus lead to submenus, and because of the redundancies between the right-click and preferences menus, but I will do the rest as I get time. If there's something particular you have a question on, make a request and I'll get to that first.

These translations are for the version I downloaded last week, Version 1.4 build 19837. Older and newer versions will obviously have slight differences. This is what my version looks like:

I translated two sets of menus: the tabs in the "Preferences" menus (which are accessed by pressing F5), and the right-click menus (accessed by clicking on "DAUM PotPlayer" in the upper left, or right-clicking anywhere on the screen). I will spoiler all the images to keep things neat. I'll also include some notes for drop-down menu options that won't show in the images, as well as any things I am uncertain on or I think need explanation.

I'm not sure on "최소화시 비디오창 위치 고정하기" which I translated "Fixed location to minimize video window." It appears to be something for use with TV output to fix minimizing issues, but I couldn't test it. It affects how my shell reads PotPlayer as a task, but this probably won't affect normal Windows users.

Obviously the question-marked items I have no clue on. I would just use the settings tagged "recommended" unless your system is having issues with chopping, etc.
The Korean "꽉찬" I chose to translate as "saturate." "Saturate screen" is the same as fullscreen, but it will fill the smallest dimension of the screen first, either clipping off the other dimension so that there are no letter-boxes, or distorting the dimensions to squeeze it in, depending on your settings elsewhere. For example, saturating a 4:3 monitor with a 16 : 9 video will clip off the left and the right side of the video so that the horizontal dimension fills the screen. If you don't have the "maintain ratio" selected from other menus, instead of clipping off the sides, it will squish the video down to 4:3 full screen. It's the same way with "saturate window," which will come up later, except it always crops for "saturate window."

I didn't get to this yet. You can do almost anything with the right-click Subtitle sub-menu, which I translated below.

I didn't get to this yet. As you can see by the image, the top section is repeated from the Audio right-click sub-menu, the second section is the equalizer, and the third section is the processing sliders, also from the Audio right-click sub-menu.

Hopefully someone who speaks Korean can clear this up. I'm not sure exactly what the slider is. It's either how much time of a live clip to save on your computer so you can rewind, or how long it saves live clips either in RAM or on your hard drive. DAUM lags too much for live broadcasts for me, so I couldn't test it. I do know that it won't prevent the skipping of sections when the stream lags then jumps ahead to catch up, because I've tried that.
Tab 7: 연결 (File Associations)
+ Show Spoiler [Korean] +
![[image loading]](http://img179.imageshack.us/img179/9389/preferencestab7.jpg)
I translated this, but haven't made the image. It's just what files DAUM can handle, and the scroll on the left is what you want DAUM to be the default player for. The bottom section, "자동 실행(XP 전용)" translates to "Autoplay (XP Only)" and is just what media types you want to utilize Autoplay (video/audio/dvd/cd audio). The check-box below (폴더에 메뉴 연결하기) adds 2 context menu options in Windows Explorer for when you right-click on a folder. They are 팟플레이어의 재생목록에 추가 (Add to PotPlayer playlist) and 팟플레이어에서 재생하기 (Play with PotPlayer). Neither one seems to do anything on my system though, but it may be because I need to reboot.
DAUM PotPlayer/Rightclick menu (DAUM 팟플레이어)
I put the Korean and English images side-by-side in one spoiler for easy comparison. The Preferences menus were too wide to do this.

The option "환경 관리/기타 설정" translated more literally to "Environmental Management/Other Settings," but it's basically for customizing configuration settings and saving the configuration, which is basically a scheme. I used the word "scheme" every time this came up, even though it's not 100% accurate.
Thirteen (13) of the menu options expand into sub-menus, as indicated by a right arrow on the right edge of the menu. I translated these as well. Here are images of them numbered off:+ Show Spoiler [image] +

The Chapter/Marker/Bookmark has a sub-menu which lets you add markers in time that you can jump to in a file. The sub-menu will add a line for each one you add, so you can jump to it. It probably also lets you access DVD chapters, but I couldn't get DAUM to work well with most of my DVDs, so I didn't test it.
For "Play Speed," use C to speed up play, X to slow down play, and Z to return to 1x speed. "Play Skip" lets you define the amount of time the hotkeys in this menu skip ahead/behind in a file. "Section Repeat" lets you define a start point with [ and an end point with ] that it will then loop through. Clear it with \.
"Move by Key Frames" I would imagine just forces it to only seek to key frames so that it doesn't take a couple seconds to reform the image when you jump ahead or back in time in a video.

"Channel Selection" has the options all channels/left channel/right channel. The next three are numerical or English. Volume Settings lets you chose to control PotPlayer, System .WAV or System Master volume, and the fourth option opens up the balance sliders. "Saturate window maintaining ratio" I explained before. It will expand the smallest dimension of the video to fit the application window, and crop off any excess of the other dimension.

"Minimum Size" shrinks the video portion of the screen to 0 pixels by 0 pixels (or maybe 1x1), so that all that displays is the top-, bottom-, and side-bars.
As I explained in a preferences tab, "Saturate Screen" will fill the smallest dimension to the screen size, and then clip the other (if you choose maintain ratio) or shrink the other dimension to fit (if you didn't choose maintain ratio). This differs from Fullscreen, which fills the largest dimension to the screen, and puts letterboxes on the other dimension.

The "Pan Left" option shifts the displayed portion of the video to the right, as if the camera is panning left. Similarly the directions may seem backwards with the other "Pan" options, depending on how you think about it (display perspective vs cinematic perspective). These are useful for when you are using "Fixed Video Size" options or "Saturate" options, because part of the video may be cropped off.
The "Move Window" sub-menu options allow you to nudge the application window left, right, up, or down, or have it jump to the center of the screen, top-left corner, top-right corner, bottom-left corner, or bottom-right corner.

"Resize Fullscreen For Menus" makes the video shrink (maintaining ratio if selected) to make room for the auto-hide menus when you move your mouse to them. Without this option, the menu just pops up over part of the video.
I have no idea what "다음 실행시 비디오 스킨으로 시작" means or what it does, but I translated it to "Daum Runs Skins At Video Start."
The "Select Logo" and "Color Scheme" sub-menus are pretty obvious. Just try the different options.

That's what I've got so far. PM me any requests, corrections, or questions if you don't want to post them here. Please do not post here if the images aren't loading for you, as I am working on finding a better host. Hopefully someone will get something out of this. Otherwise, at the very least, I improved my Korean typing.

Also, 1500th post.
