Thezerg, "This is just the beginning"
Coach MuMyung really went through a lot

What are your feelings on the team rising to 3rd place after 4 consecutive wins?
- To win 3:0 is very difficult even if you really want it. I believe it is the end result of the team working extremely hard during the off season. I believe we’ve worked hard enough even to surpass Hwaseung’s Spartan-like training. Last week I was arranged to play in the 4th set but after the team won 3:0 I didn’t get a chance to play. Because I was arranged to play in the 1st set today, I practiced even harder than I did last week.

You lost a great number of guardians due to cloaked wraiths.
- I usually upgrade overlord speed early. If I had upgraded overlord speed to my usual timing, the game would have ended right then and there. Terran in that situation should have defended with siege tanks and bunkers and while science vessels are made in 2 starports, stepped out of defense. However after spotting his science facility I predicted he would make the best decisions and cancelled my speed upgrade. If I had lost all my guardians it would’ve been difficult but although it was a small number, I saved them, and while terran was focusing on wraiths the danger on my part disappeared and I even got an expo and was able to secure the win.

After the game, you happily high-fived Coach MuMyung.
- Coach MuMyung really goes through a lot. He continually watches my games and offers fitting strategies for me. Coach MuMyung always stays up into the a.m. with me and suffers a lot. He said that players must not suffer alone and that coaches must share the difficulty, and so he stays up with us really late into the night and drives us early in the morning.

Because the zerg line wasn’t doing so well, you must have suffered a lot.
- It was a really difficult time and I felt a lot of pressure. It was so hard to mentally control myself to get over the pressure of being a ‘T1 zerg’. So I tried very hard to change my image to a more positive one. Although we have suffered up until now, because we practiced incredibly hard I believe that not just me, but whoever goes out will be ready with the skills to win.

In the next match, you are playing Jangbi.
- I think it will be a very entertaining match. In God’s Garden, because the 1 gate double nexus is very effective, in the first half of the match protoss are at the advantage. So most zergs try to use hydras to inflict some damage. I’ve been reflecting over that fact, and because I’m confident in my management against protoss, I believe I will be able to show an entertaining match that I will win.

After your transfer, you haven’t really shown impressive results.
- With today’s victory, after my transfer, with stats of 4-4 I’ve leveled out at a 50% win rate. I believe this is just the beginning. Up until now, I overdid things and tried too hard to adjust to the team’s atmosphere. However, now instead of focusing things outside of the game, I plan on focusing on only the game to show results.

Anything particular you want to say.
- Our team has founded a Special Force team and today is their first match. I hope that we can both have victories and have a dinner together afterwards.

Original Korean Interview:
+ Show Spoiler +

Bisu, "I'm feeling this feeling for the first time"
I'm in a stage where I'm playing well and my skills are improving

Your feelings on the team rising to 3rd place after 4 consecutive wins?
- It’s a feeling I’m feeling for the first time. We also had all-win last time but it didn’t feel like this. However this time with an all-win against a very strong team, I felt the value and felt very happy. Also, because I also helped out in the all-win, I’m happy.

In the early game because of harass you started with a heavy disadvantage.
- My position wasn’t so great. I was hoping I would get any location other than the one I got today so from the beginning I didn’t feel good. I also told my teammates that that location sucked. Up until the manner pylon, it was okay, but after I lost 2 probes because of the zealot-probes, I started with a disadvantage.

With your reavers you bought some time and successfully set up a blockade.
- Before I set up the blockade, when I caught his reaver I thought to myself “because I’m at an advantage I must not lose”. I thought that I would set up the blockade and that even if I lost there, I would be able defend at my nat. However he ended up breaking through my nat as well. After that happened I thought I lost. But my opponent was slow with his own expo and though my expo was gone I still had a secure amount of resources, and because I had the expo in the back of my base I thought to myself I must hold on.

Looking back, what do you think was the main reason you were able to come back and win?
- I was ahead in upgrades and I thought to myself if I could just hold on somehow I would be able to win. I would have to say it was due to my archons and reaver control. In the center battle, I believe it was because of the strength of the archons and reaver control that I was able to do well. In that battle, the archons were very strong and while I had good reaver control, in contrast BackHo lost 2 reavers, and I was able to win.

It was his first match since the starleague wildcard.
- Before the match while chatting, I asked him how his waist was and he replied that it still wasn’t fully healed. I told him that I would definitely buy him dinner next time and to give me a call before the game started.

In the 3rd set, once Fantasy beat Jaedong, with 37 wins you are tied at 2nd place for all time wins.
- Firstly, I’m happy that I have a large number of wins. However as of now, I just want to contribute toward team victories. Leading all time wins still feels far away for me. Although I am tied for 2nd place right now, because I don’t know what will happen in the 5th round, I believe that if I just play carefully it will happen naturally.

It's been said that in team rankings your win rate exceeds 70%.
- It’s an exaggerated story. There’s no reason I would have a win rate that high. I still believe I lack a lot. There are days I do well and days I don’t do well and because I play ranking games everyday I’m not even sure what my win rate is right now. Nowadays, I’m just in a phase where games are playing out well and my skills are improving.

Any particular you want to say?
- I’m happy that our team is winning like this. In our next match against Samsung Khan we will use this momentum and definitely win.

Fantasy, "I am strengthened by the consecutive wins and I want to be in the center of it"
"In the 4th round I want to continue riding this momentum until the end"

Your feelings on rising to 3rd place after 4 consecutive victories?
- I didn’t know that we would have 4 consecutive wins until I saw the records. I didn’t realize our team was doing this well but after I realized we had those consecutive wins I felt strengthened. The beginning of the 4th round is starting well with 2 all-wins and I feel with this same spirit and momentum we can win all our games 3:0. I feel strength from the consecutive wins and I want to be in the center of that.

This was your first match against Jaedong since the Batoo OSL.
- I feel good that I was able to win in a match that received a lot of attention. Also, when I played Jaedong in the finals I didn’t think he was that great. So I was able to play confidently today and if I play him again next time I feel I will be able to win again.

You lost a number of valkryies futilely.
- Today I was unusually nervous. Just as it was before I debuted, I played with a complete absence of ego. I don’t usually get nervous but I think Jaedong has the ability to make me that way.

You probably prepared with the mindset of shaking off your loss in the finals.
- I actually faced the match without those thoughts. I just thought I would play comfortably. Whenever I play I think to myself “just play comfortably as you do in practice” and today was no different. In the future I will continue to win and become ‘Fantasy Trauma’ to Jaedong.

Your performance recently has improved.
- After the finals, I feel that my skills have improved a lot. Within the team as practice for foundation I also gained confidence. However, because I only have 2 wins in the 4th round so far, I won’t lose focus. There’ve been countless number of times where I started off well and under performed in the latter half but in this 4th round I want to continue riding the momentum until the end.

If you were to pick a reason for your rise in performance.
- Lately I want to learn a lot from Boxer hyung and Coach iloveoov. Today’s build is a strategy that Coach iloveoov helped out a lot with. I believe I will be able to show great games in the future as well. Boxer hyung especially compliments me a lot. Also my teammates also compliment me saying that I’m good so I believe my games are running even smoother.

Last words you want to say.
- There’s something I’ve wanted to say since the past month but I haven’t gotten around to saying. Boxer hyung’s girlfriend made me a mouse pad protector (?). Afterwards my games have been running very well. I want to tell her I’m thankful. Also, today our Special Force team is playing for the first time so I ask that you also give them a lot of attention and encouragement.
Lastly, today as I rode the car here I got carsick but Best hyung for some reason went and personally bought me medicine. So I was extremely thankful, and though I was really sick at first, because of him I felt a lot better. I’m very thankful to Best hyung.

Original Korean Interview:
+ Show Spoiler +

He came damn close and lost 2-3, I think he definitely has the right to say this. It's not like he cheesed two wins and then lost straight up the rest either.

I think Fantasy just meant that Jaedong wasn't THAT great. Many people(including Korean progamers) are in awe when speaking of Jaedong. I think Fantasy was just trying to say he felt like Jaedong was "just another opponent" instead of a monster.

well he is a monster

As I see it, there is no game (okey might be some) this year or two aside from the one vs Free where Jaedong get outplayed, he trips on his own when he losses.

What? You've never felt like this before? I find that odd.

There have been plenty of times where I didn't feel that my opponent in whatever wasn't that good. That's just simply admitting that neither me nor my opponent did well. What's wrong with that?

Today’s build is a strategy that Coach iloveoov helped out a lot with.

Some people in the thread were saying he came up with that one his own. Good to have hard evidence that they're wrong.

I think what he means is that Jaedong isn't super invincible because he doesn't have the magic ability (that nobody has btw) to comes up with intricate counters to oov's strategies on the fly, and he actually needs to play against those strategies once or twice before he can't beat them.

</jaedong fan>

(eventually oov will run out of new builds and Jaedong will start to beat Fantasy every time)

He came damn close and lost 2-3, I think he definitely has the right to say this. It's not like he cheesed two wins and then lost straight up the rest either.

Fantasy will always prepare slightly-off brilliant builds against his opponents. That's always been his strength. He's bound to take some games here and there just due to the highly optimized nature of his specific builds. It's impossible for Jaedong to beat them all. But in the long run, I'm sure Jaedong will come out on top. Fantasy's letting this win get to his head.

Thanks for the translation.

That match was really nice - TheZerg's game showed some unorthodox play, Bisu's game was a nice come back and Fantasy versus Jaedong was a really intense game.

The spooked-wheel map (Heartbreak ridge) has had some really, really exciting TvZs on it.

skt1 has always been my favorite team. They are full of heroes. I mean come on, Fantasy, Bisu, oov, BOXER!

Thats good that The-Zerg won his matches. Its got to be tough being in the sk house when you are the only zerg there who is holding the torch to be a representative, and continually fails, and finally pulls through wins. Thats just great.

And theres too much to say about fantasy and bisu. I mean come on.. they are the best.

You could argue that Fantasy is already doing this well while still having noticeable room for improvement in his control (and maybe even macro).

On the other hand, JD appears to be nearly maxed out in terms of his potential. All credit to JD's incredible skill and will for winning that OSL (and he gets credit in the form of an additional OSL...). But he was very close to losing and we'd all be singing a different tune in that case.

The last time we saw a Zerg repeatedly overcome the odds while walking an increasingly fine line in ZvT, it was Savior.

JD's "weakness" (if you can call it that) is his over-reliance on his control, and corresponding over-aggression, which results in him being less innovative (unless you count "build only Mutalisks" as an innovation ... where are the Queens nowadays??). Being innovative is one of those skills that seems to be pretty hard to learn, some progamers seem have it (Fantasy, UpMagic, and believe it or not, Flash even though people don't give him credit for it) and others don't.

It's not inconceivable that Fantasy's mechanics will improve a lot over the next six months. In what way can JD match this improvement?

Great interviews! Thanks as always for translating them.

I hope this really is just the beginning for TheZerg. I find him fun to watch and he plays unorthodox builds which is always my Achilles' heel when it comes to liking players.

Hmm..Fantasy doesn't seem to be affected-or at least, not showing any disastrous mental setback-from his two 3-2 OSL Grand Final losses. That's a sign of a strong mentality there.

4-4 SKT Zerg? That's a huge accomplishment. Typically it is 0-8.

Also, when I played Jaedong in the finals I didn’t think he was that great.

If Jaedong didn't screw up with suiciding his mutalisks, Fantasy would face another rape. Jaedong was ahead the majority of the game with 4-5 gas! Fantasy, get off your high horse. You're starting to remind me of FBH.

Jaedong loses -> He's not that great. Yes, that's a good philosophy, no one that plays the game is great.
I don't think there is anyway that a reasonable impartial person will not think that Fantasy is a little arrogant.

1) it's a translation
2) Jaedong was not ahead, since he had no tech switch options, and really needed fantasy to not roll out, so he had to apply muta pressure to pin him in. Jaedong never 'suicided' his mutalisks

Any way if you read back to an iloveoov interview, iloveoov once said that he intentionally sounds arrogant in his interviews to put psychological pressure on all his opponents in future matches.

Probably something he taught SKT1 members to do.

Shut up you have no idea about TvZ. 5 gas and 15 drones mining minerals is useless, especially with no hive tech (which would enable guardian use, at least, for ALL THAT GOSU GAS). Also he was suciding his mutalisk because he knew that if Fantasy is allowed to step out of his base, JD would lose (BECAUSE OF HIS LACK OF DRONES/OTHER ARMY). He was not ahead. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Also, if this would have been the first time I'd seen JD play, I wouldn't think he was "that great" either (and I'm a JD fan, don't get me wrong). The man just spoke of what he experienced. Looking forward for the rematch.

I think he meant that, BEFORE the finals, he didn't think Jaedong was that good, not after.
I'm probably wrong.

JD screwed up, so Fantasy doesn't think he's that great. Seems reasonable to me.

Jaedong loses -> He's not that great.

Welcome to every Protoss anti-fan's opinion of Bisu.

Any way if you read back to an iloveoov interview, iloveoov once said that he intentionally sounds arrogant in his interviews to put psychological pressure on all his opponents in future matches.

Probably something he taught SKT1 members to do.

Doesn't make it right. This isn't even comparable since no one in the pro scene says Bisu's "not that great".

he already stated that he will become jaedong's nemesis in the future, so why not make things even more interesting with some personal insults?

It was his first match since the starleague wildcard.
- Before the match while chatting, I asked him how his waist was and he replied that it still wasn’t fully healed. I told him that I would definitely buy him dinner next time and to give me a call before the game started.

Damn you Bisu for having giving a heartwarming, humble interview. It makes it very hard to nurse a fanboy grudge. That quote is seriously 'awww'-worthy.

Fantasy, thankfully, is a prick.

Don't really think fantasy was saying jaedong is less, he's probably saying he's beatable and people talk about jaedong on some godlike level that he is not the end all opponent. Probably overestimation and intimidates the challanger into a bad spot kinda thing. Though if you're reading this you should check JD's recent games played, I think you'll be pleasently suprised. All these excuses about jaedong faulting himself and revealing chinks in the armor are his own just as any other top player has done, JD is no exception.

i thought he was just saying that Jaedong is not as good as he's hyped up to be
of course every terran player is going to blow a load all over their monitor and say:

"LOLFAG FANTASY>JAEDONG EZ U ALL RETARD"

and every zerg player is going to say:
"OMFG BM JAEDONG IS TEH BEST"

but obviously Fantasy doesn't mean Jaedong is "not that great" in general, as in, below himself.

edit:
